| Big B on the family concert, his third National Award and Sarkar 2
 | | Standing tall: Amitabh Bachchan | What's happening to your proposed family concert next year?
Things are still being finalised. Akshay Kumar, Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, Riteish and Shiamak Davar will probably be with me. You won the National Award for Black after a year's delay. Comment.
The delay was due to certain legal circumstances. I am deeply grateful to the government and the jury for considering me, and more importantly, for considering Black. You sound really pleased.
I'm happy for the film and Sanjay Bhansali, but sad for Rani who did not get an award for her performance. When she called me to express her joy about my award, her temperament was exactly like when we saw the first copy of the film. But we must respect the decision of the jury and acknowledge Sarika for her performance. There were controversies surrounding the award. A jury member claimed they were being pressurised to give you the award.
The jury must have reasons for their claims and decisions. I think what became awkward was that the deliberations of the jury became public because of the court procedure.
The body of distinguished people, chosen by state authorities to represent a committee, is able and works within their own creative and artistic capabilities.
They are guided by a set rules and regulations. They know their job. We are no one to question them. If there were some differences within them, it would have been better if they had not made that public. It is for them and the state to deal with. People feel Black is your finest work. Do you agree?
Black rates very highly in my repertoire. I cannot say if it is the finest. I hope the finest is yet to come. It's always a challenge to better what you have done before. Lately, you've been shooting with Abhishek and Aishwarya in Hyderabad. How's the experience?
It's been wonderful. On the sets, is it difficult to switch from a real life father to a complete professional?
Not really. As actors, we go through such experiences often. One has to be thoroughly professional even when he is working with his close friends and colleagues. What changes do you notice in Abhishek after marriage?
Nothing much. Except the new phrase 'meet my wife' in his dictionary. How's Sarkar Raj shaping up?
I think it's going well and is as intense as the first one. Sholay now has new title and a new name for your character. Is it still Sholay?
It's RGV's take on the film. In that respect, I believe there is a deep inspiration. |
