Abhi's on the bed, his phone to his ear, trying to manao an annoyed Tanu because she didn't like some moment of nokjhok she saw between AbhiGya, or because he had to take Dadi/Daasi's side against her, or whatever it is that's got her upset today - and Pragya walks out of the closet, carrying her folded bedding, shaking her head and laughing to herself a little that he's stuck on a call like that, but inside she also feels a little bad for him...

Another party, another occasion where all eyes in the room are on supermodel Tanu in the latest off-the-catwalk couture while Pragya is in a sari that would please Daadi and her Maa and she really doesn't care if Abhi doesn't look at her once, of course she doesn't.

Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time.

Pragya's used to sleeping on the balcony after all these weeks. Most nights she has plenty to keep her mind busy until sleep claims her, but on this particular night all she can think about is how that day she had to watch Abhi deal with Tanu embarrassing him by being clingy.

Oh, he's always telling her that they're happy together, that Tanu is his perfect match and all he needs is for her to leave his life and they'd be all set, but Pragya can see that he's not happy with her, really, that Tanu doesn't understand anything about what's important to him and that's why they keep getting into fights on a daily basis.

And she knows it's Abhi's own fault for continuing the relationship but still Pragya feels bad for how Tanu ruins his mood. And her last thought as she drifts off to sleep is that it's too bad he'll never see how much his unhappiness actually bothers her.

Abhi thanks Pragya for taking care of Daadi, and occasionally he'll even compliment how she handles Bunty-Babli or how she manages the cranky Daasis, but he's still convinced that she doesn't belong in his world, that they have nothing in common, that she's not the one for him.

And Pragya tells herself that she takes care of everyone in her sasural because it's her duty and because they're good people and caring comes naturally to her and a hundred thousand other excuses but the truth is that some tiny part of her still just wants his approval, and since he won't accept her care and understanding the best she can do is apply those to the people who matter most to him in the world.

And she doesn't even bother dreaming anymore that she could ever be one of those people, what's the point of dreaming of what will never be?

Abhi's problems with Tanu are getting worse, because ever since Daadi's coma Abhi has stopped talking about how it's only a matter of time until Pragya leaves his life. He expects her to stay as long as Daadi needs her, and Tanu can't stand that because that's a timeline with no obvious end.

Abhi has his hands full balancing Tanu's demands for time with Daadi's expectation that he further his marriage with Pragya, and he also has to worry about Daadi's illness and a sudden problem with the family's finances. He takes his temper out on Pragya by being ruder than ever most days, and at first that upsets her and she answers back to him sharply, but then she starts to understand what's going on in his mind and she handles everything much more calmly.

And he's confused out of his mind that no matter what he says to her he can't seem to push her away. At the end of the day she's always there with some silly little Chashmish joke that sends him to bed with a smile, and every morning his cinnamon coffee is waiting for him even when he wakes up before she has a chance to terrorise his ears with her morning bhajans.

Bulbul and Aaliya gang up to make Pragya dress differently for Abhi's CD launch party. They both have their own reasons for wanting Tanu out of Abhi's life, so they set aside their differences with the goal of making the rockstar see that he has a wife he should be paying attention to.

Pragya flat out refuses to wear the western dresses they bring her so they finally compromise on a sari that is more elegant than her usual style, with a more daring than usual blouse. And Pragya feels ridiculous and not at all like herself in this fancy sari and the tottering high heels Bulbul insisted on. Pragya's not comfortable at the party even though a lot more of Abhi's friends are talking to her than at any of the past parties.

As for Abhi his eyes open wide when he sees her but he doesn't say or do anything out of the ordinary and Pragya is convinced that the whole night is a failure. But then Tanu suddenly leaves mid-way, and Abhi comes to take her arm, and he still doesn't say anything but she spends the rest of the night by his side.

Pragya does have her pride, though it goes into hibernation for awhile.

Eventually she really does stop wishing that Abhi would want her. She starts to treat their marriage like the friendly compromise it's supposed to be, and she backs off from the overly-committed wife act.

It's hard to go against what comes naturally but she's trying to establish distance. She's not quite ready to start making plans for what will happen when they finally get divorced because there's still no definite date for that, but she resolves to go back to being her own person.

She decided long back that she wasn't going to fight for him, and now she's decided that she's not going to just wait for him to notice her either.

Abhi doesn't understand why she suddenly seems to be colder, and he can't get her to talk about it, as any of his questions are met with that determined friendliness that makes him feel bad for expecting more from her. And he really starts to worry about why his Chashmish is growing apart from him, and this sense that he might somehow be losing her is what finally makes him realize that he wants to be her husband.

And within days of that realization it's bye-bye Tanu and hello mission manao Chashmish. And the mission ends up taking rather a long time, much longer than Abhi would have thought, but one day he does finally win her trust, and her heart, and gives his in return. Because by then they both understand that they belong together.

so these are like...drabble songfics? i'd love to write them out fully but i don't know if i ever will but i can't get them out of my head so here, have a drabbly version :p

Okay I was never going to post this . but I made my friend read this . and she challenged me to post this😕 . so here I am with my first song- fic.

So before reading this keep these few things in mind . tanu is nowhere in the picture . aaliya has changed for good . abhi and pragya become good friends and decide to stay together until the health condition of dadi and sarla maa is better . so after sarlaa maa and dadi are well they get divorced .And this whole thing is based on abhi

Beautiful way to explore Abhi...makes sense that he would be so late to realize...he is exactly the type to not know what he has until it's gone...love how you described that he didn't miss her sometimes but everyday...how he found peace with her in his arms...I think you just perfectly described why these two could be so good together, even though you didn't show them together!
