Part 12

Madhu smiled seeing him and shook her head at him. She hugged him tightly and RK was taken off guard. He closed his eyes savouring the feeling of Madhu so close to him as he took in a deep breath of her scent.

"Better luck next time.." she said still smiling as she left him almost brushing her cheek with his.

RK looked at her confused not able to understand what she meant but Madhu didmt wait much and walked off happily.

Madhu was going to the kitchen to wash her face as she didn't want to take anymore chances with RK being in the same room.

"Madhu.." came Dipali's voice from a side.

"Hey.." she replied back.

"What's this?" She said making a face as she pointed at the black marks.

"Nah.. just a prank.." Madhu brushed it off and walked to the kitchen.

RK was in the room as he looked around at the mess Madhu had created. "Patil." He called out.

Patil came in quickly. "Yes chief" he said but suddenly his face had a frown seeing the mess on the floor.

"Yes.. Clean that up.." RK said non chalantly.

Patil looked at him and a smile crept over his face as he tried to curb it.

"What.." RK said irritated. "Just clean.it up.. call.others if you feel.like.." he said with a frowm and walked off.

The other attendants of his house too looked at him wierdly. Some smiled amd some gave a comfused look. RK rolled his eyes and went to the living room to sit on the sofa.

"Biwi... l will have lunch before going back to office.." he called to Madhu.

Dipali entered the living room as she walked towards him. She wanted to have a conversation with RK. Madhu had given her hopes and also now she knew that RK can chat normally and was not just a workaholic who was too formal to have casual talks as she had noticed him with Madhu. RK barely noticed her coming there until she stood right beside the sofa.

"You need something?" He asked without even looking at her as he changed the channels on the television.

"How are you?" She asked hesitantly.

RK turned to her with a wierd face. "How do I look?" He asked irritated at her silly question.

Thats when Dipali noticed polish marks on his left cheek. She remembered Madhu having a similar mark on her right cheek and it wasnt long that she added two on two.

"Amm.. Your cheek.." Dipali said uncomfortably as she realized that they both might have shared an intimate moment.

RK looked at her confused as he touched his face.

"No.. the other side.." Dipali said.

He touched the other side and found black stain on his fingers. A smile crept on his face as he remembered the tight hug Madhu gave him and moreover now he understood what she meant by wishing him luck for the next time. In the end she had won her little war. He shook his head at her sillyness.

Dipali forwarded him a tissue paper. RK took it from her. "Thanks... Where is biwi?" He asked.

"She went to wash her face..." she said uncomfortably.

RK realised that she was thinking a lot more than what had actually happened. He nodded his head and hoped that Madhu wont clear her doubts about it and let her think whatever she was thinking.

Madhu came in happily as she gave RK a victorious smile. RK smiled back at her trying not to initiate any discussion that could clarify the events that took place.

"That settles the egg prank.." Madhu notified him that she had equalled her loss that she faced yesterday.

"Ohh sure... Fox!" RK replied back.

"You know Dipz..." Madhu turned to her excitedly wanting to share her success story.

"Biwi I want to have lunch before going back.." RK interrupted suddenly.

"What.. but I didnt get anything ready.. i was busy with the shoes.." Madhu said getting sidetracked.

"I have prepared lunch.." Dipali interrupted.

"You are such a Darling.. thanks a lot!" Madhu said delighted.

"we will eat from out.." RK said uninterested. Dipali's smile dropped hearing him.

"Why? We will eat here.." Madhu insisted.

"I want to go out." RK said firmly.

" But Rishu.." before Madhu could argue further RK came up and dragged her out.

They were now sitting in a restaurant and Madhu royally ignored RK.

"Come on biwi.. is this tge way you behave on a date?" RK asked teasingly.

"Date!! Are we on a date?" Madhu asked surprised.

"Of course..." RK said casually

Madhu laughed hearing him. "Why are you laughing?" RK asked her.

"Just that.. I never thought of going on a date with my dumbo.." Madhu said

RK smiled hearing her. "Why do you call me dumbo?" He asked amused.

Madhu thought for a while "I dont know... I like it..." she replied back.

"Do you know its actually the other way round.." RK said to her.

Madhu looked at him with a frown narrowing her eyes at him. "I was thinking to tell you but now I wont" she said faking anger.

"What?" He asked back.

Madhu took in a deep breath. "Fine.. its been too long.. i must tell you.. people are looking at us.."

RK looked at her even more confused.

" You still have that mark on your face.." Madhu said and then burst out laughing.

RK touched his cheek in shock and saw the black mark on his fingers. He quickly took the tissue and rubbed it clean.. he shook his head at Madhu in disbelief but then smiled seeing her laughing so heartily...

"Didnt you notice everyone looking at you wierdly?" Madhu said controlling herself..

"I don't see anyone else when you are around.." RK replied casually but then closed his eyes in disbelief that he actually uttered that.

"God! You are such a flirt... I wonder why you never had any girlfriends.." Madhu said with widened eyes.

"Whats with the Dipz?" RK asked trying to avert the topic.

"Oh... i liked it that way.. " Madhu said shrugging.

"No need... let her be what she is.." RK said in a tone of displeasure.

"ooh.. possessive?" Madhu asked teasingly.

"I mean.. can you be anymore dumb?" RK asked irritated and Madhu laughed hearing him.

"Rishu... you don't need to think too much.. i know you are trying to kill your love because you think that we have married so its unfair to think of anyone else.. but i know.. i am not some outsider who wont understand. I am your friend.. You dont need to do sacrifice for me.. I know whatever happened between us was in a fit of rage and I would never complain about it.. but yes if you hide your feelings from your best friend then I would complain." Madhu said to him with conviction in her eyes.

RK looked at her straight in the eyes as pain reflected through them. How could he make her realize that its her whom he wanted.

RK was sitting in his office as he thought about Madhu. He had his eyes closed as he tried to think what he wants. He married Madhu for revenge but he had always loved her. He would have played this revenge game with her but then this Dipali entered from somewhere and whatever he does, Madhu thinks its because he is guilty for doing wrong with Dipali or compromising for the marriage. How peaceful everything was going, he was having the time of his life with Madhu around him. He could punish her, love her, play with her and hate her, all at the same time. But now with Dipali around all his focus had shifted to somehow keep Madhu with himself and make her realize that in drunk or in sense, he regards this marriage and his love.

"Chief.." came in Bittuji with a file in his hand.

"Hmm" RK sounded while still leaning in hus chair.

"We have the audit reports here.. I thought you should check it.." Bittuji said.

"You do it Bittuji.. anyways you know how to do it all better.." he said.

"But chief.. you should check it yourself.." he tried to reason.

"I trust you Bittuji.." RK said firmly.

"Ok Chief.." he agreed. "Are you upset?" He asked hesitantly.

"No.. whats wrong that I need to b upset?" RK said with a slight laugh.

"I dont know.. Is something about Bhabhiji worrying you?" Bittuji asked though almost scared to have touched that topic.

RK took in a deep breath. "May be.." he said slightly not wanting to acknowledge it openly.
Bittuji was taken aback that RK didnt burst on him. He had mostly expected an outburst from him for talking about Madhu.

"I dont know..."

"Are you concerned about Dipali?" Bittuji asked confused.

"Hell no! why is everybody trying to remind me of her.. she is not in my priority list.. hell she is not in my any list.." RK almost screamed at him irritated.

"Yes chief" bittuji responded. "Bhabhiji believes that you love her. " he said.

"Her? Madhu?" RK asked delighted.

"No... Dipali.. she believes you love Dipali."

"Hmm.. i know that.. she has always been dumb.. wait.. how do you know that?" He asked suddenly.

"She was asking me about..." he hesitated.

"About what?"

"About some good times that you and Dipali might have spent.. like your anniversary and all.. so she can recreate it for both of you.." Bittuji said it all hesitantly.

"God! She is so dumb.. what did you say?" RK asked restlessly running his hand in his hair while frustration built in him.

"I said that you keep your personal life out of anybody's reach so i dont know much..."

"Bittuji you should have said that there hasnt been any such thing between me and Dipali.. it was a formal courtship.. I hadnt even thought of marriage with her.. in fact i had never thought of marriage with anybody other than Madhu.." RK blurted out all without realizing in the heat of his frustration.

Bittuji smiled hearing him. "Sorry chief. I would tell her next time.." he said.

RK took in a deep breath trying to calm.himself. "Dont say the last part.." he said acting casual as he realized what he had said infront of Bittuji.

"Ok chief.." bittuuji bit his lip to prevent himself from laughing.

"Chief... Dont you think there should be a formal party or something.." Bittuji said.

"Party? And why?" RK asked back.

"Chief.. your marriage.. there have been rounds about your sudden marriage.. press has been asking questions that I had kept at bay until now.. but still people need to be answered.."

"Hmm" RK sounded uninterested.

"And chief.. being introduced as your wife infront of everybody can make bhabhiji realize that she is actually your wife now and not just a friend.." Bittuji came up with the real reason.

RK's eyes suddenly sparkled hearing it. "Yes.. you are right.. prepare for a party bittuji.." RK said smiling to himself.

"Yes Chief.." Bittuji said and went away while RK smiled at himself confidentally.
