My heart's a stereo
It beats for you, so listen close
Hear my thoughts in every note
Make me your radio [Yeah]
And turn me up when you feel low [Turn it up a little bit]
This melody was meant for you [Right there]
Just sing along to my stereo [Gym Class Heroes, baby!]
She said Yes! He couldn't believe it! He'd held onto the hope that dinner would be the turning point in his life and as he slipped the ring on her finger he knew what he could only hope for had come true.
If I was just another dusty record on the shelf
Would you blow me off and play me like everybody else?
If I asked you to scratch my back, could you manage that?
Like it, check it, Travie, I can handle that
Furthermore, I apologize for any skipping tracks
It's just the last girl to play me left a couple cracks
I used to, used to, used to, used to, now I'm over that
'Cause holding grudges over love is ancient artifacts
It had been 3 months and it was time to move on, he was famous so conventional ways of meeting someone were closed off to him. His dadi had given a matchmaker his details, requesting that she not tell anyone that he was a famous, popular and rich rockstar..no THE ROCKSTAR!, but he knew that it would be hard to find a girl who would genuinely care. It was the name that everyone wanted. No one spent any time trying to understand the person he was on the inside.
He decided to take matters in his own hands. He was after all a capable person, knowledgeable as well and could definitely avoid all the hassles that he would have to go through if the matchmaker did find him someone.
That night he sat on his laptop and did what he had sworn he would never do. He created an online dating profile. It seemed quite sad to him, that a popular guy such as himself having to go to such extents to find his perfect match. She wasn't the one and that was why he had nursed a broken heart for 3 months.
If I could only find a note to make you understand
I'd sing it softly in your ear and grab you by the hands
Keep me stuck inside your head like your favorite tune
And know my heart's a stereo that only plays for you
Having had enough of moping and feeling pity for himself, he posted the profile online and waited for the software to work its magic. Logically it was the same as if the matchmaker had found him someone, but he'd gone down the path of human conclusion once and was more than happy to leave it to analytic algorithms to find him his perfect match.
My heart's a stereo
It beats for you, so listen close
Hear my thoughts in every note [Yeah, yeah, yeah, come on!]
Make me your radio [Uh huh]
And turn me up when you feel low [Turn it up]
This melody was meant for you
Just sing along to my stereo
Oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh-oh-oh
To my stereo
Oh, oh-oh-oh
So sing along to my stereo [Let's go!]
Two profiles matched, both were on limited view and not wanting to take any chances he messaged both. One responded straight away, giving him access to view her profile. He saw that she was exactly the same. Not wanting to go through the heartache again, he messaged her again and told her that he wasn't too sure about the match and he was sorry to have wasted her time.
He didn't hear from the other match for two days. He'd almost given up on the whole idea consoling himself that it wasn't a good one anyways when he got the message. She had allowed for him to view her profile. He looked through skimming through the basic details to make sure that it was actually a female and she wasn't his dadi's age. She didn't have any photos of herself up so he had no idea what she looked like, but then again neither did he so he couldn't complain about that.
If I was an old school, fifty pound boombox
(Remember them?)
Would you hold me on your shoulder wherever you walk?
Would you turn my volume up in front of the cops?
(Turn it up)
And crank it higher every time they told you to stop
He started composing meaningful music again, not wanting to admit even to himself that it was to impress this unknown girl, instead saying it over in his mind it was because he wanted a change. It had become enjoyable, composing music that he liked, not worrying if it would sell, just music to soothe the inner restlessness. He sent her some of his scratches, knowing that he would never record them. They meant too much to sell. And she loved them, she always had something to say about them.
And all I ask is that you don't get mad at me (mad at me)
When you have to purchase mad D batteries (batteries)
Appreciate every mixed tape your friends make (friends make)
You never know, we come and go like we're on the interstate
(Never know)
Dadi noticed the change in him. Her grandson had always been a sweet boy and had grown up to be a responsible man and with those responsibilities and quick climb up to riches, he had forgotten how to live his life freely. She thought she'd lost him completely after the heartbreak, but the old Abhi was coming back, slowly, but he was getting there and although she wanted to ask the reason why, she knew that if she did, he would take a hundred steps back and that was a loss she was not willing to accept.
I think finally found a note to make you understand
If you can hear it, sing along and take me by the hands
Keep me stuck inside your head like your favorite tune
You know my heart's a stereo that only plays for you
After four months of chatting and exchanging emails, she finally gave him her number. He still didn't know what she looked like and for the time being didn't really care. He had finally found someone with whom he didn't have to pretend; to be a rockstar; to be a jerk; to have attitude. Instead he could be himself say whatever was on his mind without having to worry about the repercussions.
My heart's a stereo [Yeah!]
It beats for you, so listen close [Listen]
Hear my thoughts in every note [Oh, oh]
Make me your radio [Come on]
And turn me up when you feel low [Turn it up]
This melody was meant for you
Just sing along to my stereo [Just sing along all night]
Oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh-oh-oh
To my stereo
Oh, oh-oh-oh
So sing along to my stereo [Sing along, sing along]
He loved listening to her talk. She had a sweet melodious voice and the lilt had a soothing tranquil quality to it. She told him how her mother had hired a matchmaker to find her the perfect boy, even though she had told her that she'd put up her profile on the dating website. She laughed when he told her that he had only had two matches for his profile and then told him that she hadn't had better luck, in fact maybe worse since his was the only profile that had matched. Why she didn't know as they were completely different.
I only pray you'll never leave me behind
Never leave me
Because good music can be so hard to find
So hard to find
I take your hand and pull it closer to mine
Yeah
Thought love was dead, but now you're changing my mind
Yeah, yeah, come on
Phone calls became coffee dates, movie and dinner dates and then spending whole days together. She was surprised to see him at their first coffee date. How was she to know that she'd been speaking to the famous rockstar, but she soon overcame that uneasiness once she realised she knew the true Abhi. He was pleasantly surprised, she was quite pretty, although not in the obvious way. Eleven months after they first spoke on the website, he told Dadi about her. How they'd met and how he'd gotten to know her and how slowly he had fallen in love with her. And now he wanted to propose to her but he wanted to take Dadi's blessing first.
He went to meet her mother and asked for her daughter's hand in marriage. He told her everything exactly how he had told dadi and requested that she agree so he could start a new chapter with the love of his life. She agreed on the condition that her daughter said yes.

Yeah!
He set out to woo her completely. There was candles, soft music, flowers and the two of them. He got down to one knee and nervously asked her the simple question, no frills,
"Pragya, will you marry me?"
