This is what you get when you gulp down eight episodes in one go, a post so long...
"This Fab 5 has drive me to this!
Main aisa nai tha.. main aisa nai tha..."
...and the series of tears in Harshad's eyes got me thinking that maybe I have been right about a theory why Harshad might be like he is today. We all know KY2 has had an element of mystery right from day 1, the first one being the Rishabh-Star-Dhruv story. That kind of has a supernatural element to it, loosely related maybe, what with their attacks being connected to comets and stars and what not. Anyhow, the more important one right now is the mysteriousness related to Harshad. I definitely detest him for what he's done to Cabir and the Fab 5 in the episodes we've seen, but I don't think it all began like this.
That being said, I am focusing on Harshad merely because MaNan story is progressing in quite a clichd way, and I could do better than seeing the two cry over each other and act in the most foolish way. Like seriously, I agree Nandu is the sweetest person around and I love her to the core, but can she really not see why Manik is behaving like this? Can she not remember that hug before Musicana, the way he came crashing into her, as if all he was falling and she was his only hope? She may not know why he's doing this, but is she really that blind to not see how much pain he is in? He is suffering way more than her and she just doesn't trust her instincts enough to go hold him by the collar, corner him against the wall and tell him she knows he loves her and he must just quit playing these games. Honestly, I swear I want Nandu to go and confront him bang on, instead of believing what he says. That would have been not a cliche, trust me!
If Nandu doesn't trust their love, Manik is no less. The stupid guy had to go all sacrificial and mahaan, seriously? This is the 21st century where nobody does what Manik is doing, him sacrificing for his best friend is not what is wrong, the actual wrong is hurting Nandu to prove how really great he is. We all know Manik loves his friends more than anything, save for Nandu, but he didn't have to prove it by throwing Nandu off just so that dhruv could catch her. She is a person who has her own choices and should be allowed to make her own decisions. Manik SHOULD'VE told her how Dhruv *supposedly* loves her, and let her decide what she wanted next, or he should've waited for Dhruv to confront her and she could've fixed it all (we know Nandu is smart enough never to let Manik and Dhruv fall apart, and this time by including herself instead of just backing off). The show is about how the youth functions in today's world, which is why its on MTV, so the whole star plus sacrifice story, I found it irrelevant.
I don't mind MaNan not getting together right away, but I'd expected it in just a little better way rather than this. I think there could've been something better. But I don't say the writers are bad, because right next to the tragic MaNan we have other awesome stories going on. A shift from MaNan made me see how really those stories are developing.
The whole Raghav-Cabir track has been put out in an amazing way, I totally love the duo after the recent episodes. I wish they get back together, because if they don't, I really won't be able to tolerate Harshad anymore, even if I've given him the benefit of doubt. Also, I feel Cabir has had a long way since the starting episode till now. He may have been a Fab 5 brat who thought taking torturous videos of people was fun, but after we see him with Raghav, there's a new side to him, the one that shows how vulnerable he actually is and how the other side was just a cover up. Cabir is a better friend to Manik, because despite his own traumas, he's noticed that Nandu means more to Manik than he lets on. In the same world we have a best friend called Dhruv who is apparently in love, and that gives him the right to ignore each and every feeling his best friend has, be it love that is stronger than him, way too strong. Dhruv is an amazing character, and frankly, he and Alya make an amazing pair. They get along better than they know, and they need to know this soon. I say this not because I want MaNan to be together, but Alya really gels up better with Dhruv, and she needs to see it, and show him too.
Going back to the whole Harshad track, we know him and Manik share a secret, which is a secret until yet because when it comes out, it shall affect them both. Also, we've seen Harshad go into a flashback with three boys walking next to each other, with promises of always being together. A similar flashback in Manik's mind tells that two of them were Manik and Harshad, the third one I don't know. Next we've seen how Mukti was ready to give up Fab 5 for Harshad, the two were in love. Things changed when Manik and Alya tell her that Harshad was cheating on her, which I think is the time since when Harshad has been trying to break the Fab 5. Had Harshad really been cheating, I don't think he would've wasted his time on the Fab 5, he could've just moved on with any random chick, but it is his love for Mukti that has brought him face to face with Fab 5 time and again. This leads me into thinking that maybe, just maybe, the Manik that we didn't know, along with Alya, had lied to Mukti about Harshad cheating on her. I would like to believe that they were misinformed too, but I can't be sure. This would basically mean that Harshad still loves her, despite what he lets on people to believe and however indifferent he may act, Mukti affects him as much as he affects her; he's just too smart not to show it like her. In today's episode, Harshad is heartbroken, which is when he realizes he had never been like this. It is Fab 5 that has rendered him to the man he is today, full of spite and hatred. In this moment, all he wants is for someone to hold him and tell him that all shall be fine, which is where Navya comes in. This is Harshad's moment of weakness, and though it shouldn't have happened, it did. I can't decide upon whether I feel it is right or wrong, because Harshad may be weak right now, but using Navya like he did and he is, that's just not right. Navya may be one irritating character at time with her Harshad ji' chant, but she's done nothing to deserve this, she deserves better, she deserves true love, and not a moment of weakness.
Having said all of this, I am loving the way the whole story is progressing. MaNan's story I personally wish had been something else, but that's just personal. The actors are doing a fab job, truly amazing. Niti is amazing, but Parth is the show stealer. The way he just walks effortlessly in every scene and owns it, it's totally commendable. He doesn't stop being the eye-candy that he is, so also not leaving any emotion, lately it's only pain that we see on his face, and the guy does it like no one can. I am so impressed, hail ya Parth Samthaan.
Pooja.
