We are back with our Member of the Week #7!

G a o K a C h o r i o f t h e w e e k !

For those who don't know what Member of the Week is, its basically a thread that is created where a member from the forum is chosen to take the hot-seat as a token of appreciation and for a whole week they answer any and every question that the members pose to them, as long as under I-F COC.

Age: Since I learned to meaningfully count, I add a year on my date of birth and deduct a year on my hindu calendar birthday. So, my age is 3

Hobbies: Meditation, writing, music, walking, and volunteering in the community

How you got started with I-F: Reading the posts on Punar Vivah got me started

Your favorite section on I-F: The show I follow (can you guess which one) and Punar Vivah

Why you visit the TP forum: To read the posts and share my views

How you landed on the TP forum: I liked Divyam from PV and followed him here off-and-on. I started following TP more closely with Veer's entry and when the CVs chose to show Pakhi as a widow.

Why do you like TP: Earlier I did not follow the show - as it supported bigamy and promoted the thinking that woman should be docile and accepting of anything and everything that their husband threw at them.

I like it NOW - because they are showing the dilemma that many Indian women who are widowed face when they permit another man to enter their life.

It is doubly hard for a child-bride like Pakhi who has been indoctrinated since childhood that she belongs to her husband only (sirf Anshuman ki Pakhi). The negative comments of the TPians who chose not to follow the serial following Anshuman's death clearly indicate that even today - a majority of woman (young and old, modern and orthodox) shun the idea of giving a widow a second chance at marriage.

I like TP because of the psychological underpinnings confronting Pakhi and Veer. I like TP because it promotes woman empowerment. I like TP because it is using the story media to convey to its viewers that widow-remarriage is acceptable. I like TP because it is providing hope to the many child-brides who are widowed at a young age.

How does it feel to be Chori of the Week: Hard work - got to reply to all these queries.

Favorite Actor: It varies - like anyone who does a good job

Favorite Actress: Same as for fav actor

Pick only One Favorite Character from TP and give reasons why : This varies as the story progresses. Right now it is Pakhi because of the heavy emotional turmoil she is undergoing.

Favorite Shows: Obviously TP now, PV and 24 in the past. I also like occasionally watching Crime Patrol and Satyamev Jayate

One thing you like about TP Forum?

Those who are currently active truly like the show and give an honest opinion of their thoughts and reactions.

One thing you dislike about TP Forum?

I wish we as a group worked harder at hitting the like button, hitting the rating, turning the posts pink, writng comments and creating more topics
