C H A P T E R - 4

As Khushi wore her bangles and as she looked at herself in the mirror, she gulped finding Dhruv leaning against the door frame, a glass of wine in his hand and he was staring right at her.

Discomfort was all what settled inside her. She looked down at her hands and was surprised finding them shivering.

With her shivering hands, she wore her earrings quickly. She wanted to get out of the room as soon as possible but as Anjali had said her, she has to look magnificent and ethereal, to catch everyone's attention after all she was a Raizada Bahu now.

She sighed and looked up to find Dhruv still gazing at her. Her eyes narrowed but at the same time she was feeling scared and unprotective.

It seemed as if he would come and eat her any minute. The intensity was scaring her. She gulped again and tucked her hair behind her ear before she started combing her hair aware of Dhruv's penetrating gaze.

While combing her hair, she stopped and looked at Dhruv through the mirror. Something did confuse her.

"I know what are you thinking? That why i haven't taken any step towards you yet?" Khushi's eyes went wide a little.

He was right. Looking at his state, the way he drawled seemed as if his wild side would appear any time and Khushi was afraid what if he attacked her and what if she failed to protect herself.

Yesterday, Arnav was her savior but tonight?

"I'll not leave you" his last night's word rang in her mind giving her goosebumps.

How badly she wanted all this to be a nightmare.

"Don't worry. I'll do nothing with you now. I'm just. waiting for the right time and right place" he spoke sipping a sip of the content in his wine glass.

Khushi totally ignored him and looked away. It was better not answer his bull****.

"I didn't know you were so desperate" he smirked and Khushi narrowed her eyes and glared at him.

"Just Shut Up" she gritted angrily and got up turning towards him.

"And i'm telling you, nothing is going to happen between us" Khushi spoke and sat on the bed, wearing her stilettos.

Dhruv rolled his eyes.

"Ye tumhe jald pata chal jaayga"

Khushi inhaled a deep breath and stood up when the door was knocked by Anjali. Khushi opened the door welcoming a smiling Anjali whose smile grew wider seeing Khushi.

"Arrey waah Khushi Ji. Aap to bohat sundar lag rahi hai" Anjali caressed her cheeks and then streaked a kala tikka on her nape.

"Agar Dhruv ki nazar lag gayi to" Anjali giggled and Khushi gave a faint smile.

"Is Dhruv ready?" asked Anjali and Khushi opened and closed her mouth confused of what to answer her.

Anjali poked her head inside and frowned finding Dhruv still in his night casuals.

"Ye Kya baat huyi Dhruv. You aren't ready yet?" she strode inside with hands on hips.

Dhruv kept the wine glass aside and Anjali eyed at it not able to say him anything.

"It's your reception party"

"I know. I'll be ready and down in some time. Why don't you check on Chote?" he answered.

Anjali nodded flashing a suppressed smile.

"Chote is already ready and down"

"Fine. Come soon. The guests have arrived and even Shyam Ji" her smile and the glow on her face enhanced.

"So finally your husband is back?"

"Yes and you come down quickly"

"Till, then i'll introduce Khushi Ji to Shyam Ji" Anjali turned towards Khushi and held her hand.

"Lets go" she whispered leading her out and Khushi smiled.

"Here he is" Anjali muttered and Khushi stared at the man facing her, his back in a George Armani Suit and hands in pockets as he conversed animatedly with some other guests.

Anjali tapped on his shoulders and he tilted to a side, a smile on his face and a glass of soft drink in his hand.

"Khushi Ji. Here is my husband Shyam. Shyam Manohar Jha" Anjali spoke and Khushi smiled at him.

"And here is our beautiful Bhabhi, Khushi Ji" Anjali wrapped an arm around her shoulders. Shyam smiled too and Khushi was sure his gaze softened when he looked at her.

"Finally, i got to meet you" Khushi spoke breaking the ice.

The sympathetic and concerned look which he was showering upon Khushi confused her.

Shyam smiled and ****ed an eyebrow at Anjali.

"Or nahi to kya. I guess i irritated her a lot these two days by..."

"Hamare Gunn Sunaa ke. Raani Saahiba aap ne to hamara naam hi kharab kar diya Khushi Ji ke saamne. What she must be thinking about us now and especially about me?" Khushi giggled and shook her head when Anjali gaped at him dramatically.

"No. It's actually sweet of her. That shows she loves you a lot" Shyam smiled and pulled Anjali closer to himself, wrapping his arm around her waist.

"And i love her too" Shyam whispered the words naughtily in her ear making Anjali punch him.

Khushi smiled at them. They looked very adorable together. A perfect pair made by Devi Maiyya.

She watched as Shyam whispered something and she scolded him in a hushed tone. Something like Shameless...Khushi Ji is here...What are you doing?"

How she wished right at the moment to have a happy life just as Anjali's. But that wasn't possible when a beast like Dhruv comes in your life.

He was making every second of her life painful and miserable.

Anjali craned her neck and nodded at someone before moving away from Shyam.

"I'll be back" She whispered to Khushi, pressing a hand on her shoulders and left.

Shyam and Khushi exchanged some smiles and...then...silence.

"Have heard a lot about you from Anjali" Khushi smiled at Shyam.

Shyam stared at Khushi for some time and then started.

"So, how are you feeling here?" he asked.

"Good" she replied.

"It's been 2 days only" she added and he nodded.

Shyam nodded and tried to observe her.

"Urm...I hope everything is going good?" he asked tilting his head and the question made Khushi suspicious as she narrowed her gaze at him.

Instead of answering, she gave him a questioning look.

"Yes everything is good" Khushi looked beside her and found Dhruv in an Armani Suit too, wrapping his arm around her waist.

Khushi flinched and glared at him, not even able to writhe because of Shyam but she didn't miss the smirk on Dhruv's lips which was specifically for Shyam.

Shyam nodded and glanced at Khushi, giving her a smile.

"That's good. Very good" he said growing Khushi's suspicion.

"Excuse us" he muttered and turned around with Khushi only to be stopped by Anjali.

"Exactly. Excuse us" Anjali grinned pulling Khushi towards herself.

Khushi mentally thanked Anjali. She was suffocating in his arms, the smell of alcohol was making her dizzy.

Dhruv turned back and his gaze clashed with Shyam's.

"A very Happy Birthday Arnav" Lavanya grinned wide forwarding the wrapped gift to Arnav.

"Thanks" Arnav murmured with a smile keeping the wrapped box on his bed and now making his way out of the room.

He raised an eyebrow when Lavanya romantically locked their arms, batting her eyelashes which looked funny to Arnav.

"This is your last birthday..."

"Excuse me" Arnav said in his trademark way unlocking their arms as he gave her an incredulous look.

He looked gorgeous in a black suit, that suited his personality.

"...before marriage. You didn't even let me complete" Arnav coked an eyebrow.

"Really? Last birthday? Are you sure?"

"Obviously. Arnav Singh Raizada tumhaari shaadi sirf mujhse hogi" she spoke animatedly, her brows scrunched cutely.

"I don't plan anything" he shrugged and started walking towards the stairs and then descending down with Lavanya beside him.

"Look it's your birthday and i don't want to have a fight. So you have to behave too" Lavanya suppressed a smile locking their arms again while Arnav shook his head.

"Remember me?"

"Yeah Of course. You are Lavanya's mother" Khushi replied and Lavanya's mother smiled at her.

"Nice. BTW you look gorgeous baby" said her mother; Rekha and Khushi raised her eyebrows before flashing a smile and muttering a thank you.

"Aaph Caarse Aaaph Caarse...Eee ka make upiya se le kar sab kuchh hum hi to kiye rahey. Isi liye to ek dum tip taap dikh rahii" Spoke up Manorma and Khushi's eyes went wide on her blatant and white lie.

Anjali and Deviyani glanced at each other and hid their giggles as Manorma turned towards Khushi and winked at her shocking her more.

Rekha twisted her lips and looked at Khushi from toe to head.

"Yeah but you don't think, the lipstick is a way little dark" she commented and Khushi stared at Anjali and Deviyani who gestured her to keep quiet and watch the show.

Rekha and Manorma has always been competitors whenever it comes to socializing and showing off each other and that's the reason they never get along with each other and end up arguing.

"Apni Bhabhi se to mila humain" Arnav heard Rajveer say him.

"There she is...in that red color saree standing beside Nani" Rajveer pushed his lips out in amazement and turned towards Arnav.

"Wow Man. Your Bhabhi is ****y" he winked.

"Just Shut. Up. Mahn...Bhai ko bulaayun kya?" Arnav spoke folding his arms.

"Boom Man. Hands Up" he upped his hand in surrender and chuckled.

"Okay but yeah but she is beautiful and...i.do.respect.her" he spoke and Arnav shook his head punching in his stomach playfully.

Rajveer was a kind of flirt but Arnav's friend. Arnav never cared him complimenting other woman in his ***** language but when it came to his Bhabhi, that didn't gel with him well.

Arnav stared at Khushi who just walked past their group with Anjali. He smiled. No doubt his Bhabhi was BEAUTIFUL and a gem.

Everyone cheered the moment Arnav sliced the cake and stuffed it in Deviyani's mouth playfully, smearing the little cake on her nose and earning a slap from her.

After Deviyani, it was Manorma's turn and then Anjali.

"Happy Birthday Chote" Anjali hugged him and Arnav smiled hugging her back.

Arnav came to Dhruv and Khushi and was about to put a small piece in Dhruv's mouth when he stopped him as he had to attend an important upcoming call.

"I'll be back" he muttered and Khushi glared at his retreating figure.

So unfeeling he was, his brother's birthday was more important than the Phone call. She smiled at Arnav as he made her eat the cake.

Arnav chuckled at Khushi when he smeared the little cake on her little nose too and she made a face.

"Happy Birthday Arnav" Khushi wished him and handed him, his gift.

"A small gift from me" Khushi wiggled her eyebrows.

"Thank You so much Bhabhi"

As Arnav was about to leave, Rajveer reached there extending his hand for a shake.

"Hi, i am Rajveer. Arnav's friend and you are his Bhabhi right?" Arnav rolled his eyes and glared at him who totally ignored him.

Khushi smiled and nodded, folding her arms instead of a handshake making him, drop his hand down on his side.

"Well, you look beautiful" Arnav and Khushi ****ed their eyebrows.

Arnav glared at Rajveer again. Arnav scratched the back of his neck, shaking his head.

"Thanks" Khushi muttered and smiled at Rajveer.

"Well, you also look..."

"Lets go" Arnav gritted and caught his hand.

"Kya kar raha hai tu. Bhabhi kya sochenge mere baare you. You are embarrassing me man" Arnav whispered while dragging him away from there.

"Bohat smile kar rahi ho" Khushi's smile vanished when she heard Dhruv who was now standing right beside her.

"I'll, see where does the smile go tonight" he gritted stretching her lips to either side of her face and Khushi pushed him away angrily.

"Why are you pushing me away from you? What will people think?" Huhn? We are newly wedded couple. " he said coming closer to her.

"Stop it Dhruv" Khushi gritted.

"You're drunk" she added observing him, stumbling a little.

He smirked and pulled her towards him, his arm going around her waist and that's when the spotlight fell on them and Khushi found Arnav giving them a thumbs up before asking the DJ to put the disc.
