After the controversy surrounding her fledgling Bollywood career following hot kissing scenes in film Nazar, and the subsequent death threats from religious fundamentalists from her home country, Pakistani film actress Meera has finally decided to settle in Mumbai.

She says by settling in Mumbai, she would be able to focus more on her career. "I'm so happy with Bollywood that I want to focus on Bollywood projects more and more.....Bollywood films have more of an international market," The News quoted her as saying over telephone from Dubai.

Meera said her parents had been worried about her move. But, she added, "I convinced them that I'm a working woman and I'd be fine."

The starlet's decision has evoked different reactions from among the Indian and Pakistani societies. According to the London-based newspaper The Independent, while some in India hailed her move as "evidence of the thaw in relations" between India and Pakistan, in Pakistan it would not be seen that way.

The paper added that the ordinary Pakistanis have not reacted well to scenes of some of their biggest stars living the high life in India's entertainment-cum-financial capital, with cricketer Shoaib Akhtar, in particular, attracting opprobrium for spending much time in the city.
