Chapter 15

Taani walked in her washroom. She splashed some water on her face. As she closed her eyes all she could think was of how many times Rey was being rude to her. Each time she went near him, he pushed her away. All she could hear was Rey blaming her, telling her that she is partially responsible for what happened. She was giving up on Rey now, she lost hope that he will ever trust her again.

Khu: (yelling) Taani!! Tumne abhi tak apna saaman nai bandha! Chalo koi nai, hum apki madadt karte hai!

Taani rushes out from the washroom,

Taa: Nai Khushi, iski koi zaroorat nai hai.

Khu: (as shez packing) Kya matlab?

Taa: Matlab (pauses for a few minutes) matlab ki main waha nai aa rahi. (see's Khushi's confused expression)Khushi main kyu jau waha? Kis k liye? Rey toh mujpe yakeen hi nai karna chahta. Wo toh bus yahi bolta rehta hai ki meri galti hai! Gussa hai, pareshan hai, main samjati hu, par..par main aur kitna samjhu usse. Jitna main usko manane ki koshish karti hu utna hi wo mujse aur gussa hote hai. Aaj bhi main unse baat karne gai par nahi, 2 min meri baat tak nai sunni.

Khushi tries to convince her, but Taani already made up her mind.

Taa: Shayad hum ek dusre k liye banne hi nahi hai. Chalo koi nahi, main nahi par kum se kam tum toh Anjali di k paas rahogi. (with faint tears) Unse keh dena ki.. ki main unko bohot zyada yaad karti hu.

Khushi hugs Taani as Taani started weeping now as she was feeling bad coz she couldn't come back home.

Next Day morning,

Arnav was sitting in his car for the past 5 minutes waiting for Khushi to come out with her luggage. Anjali di convinced him to go and pick her up. He glanced at his wrist watch for the 50^th time already. It was 7.10 am. Restless Arnav storms out of his car and walks into her house. The door was unlocked, so he walked in. He looked around but found no one to be there, he could hear Khushi's voice, she was humming some song, he walks towards the direction of the voice, now he could hear her voice more clear,

Khushi who was not aware that Arnav was waiting for her, was in her bedroom trying to cheer up Taani who was packing Khushi's remaining stuff. She climbed on her bed,

Khu: (full on Amitabh Bacchan mode) Are o jumma meri janeman bahar nikal, Aaj jumma hai, aaj ka wada hai,Dekh mai aa gaya tu bhi jaldi aa, Mujhe mat aur tadpa (jumps down from her bed and goes near Taani and hits Taani's shoulders with her shoulders) Are tu boli thi pichhle jumme ko Chumma dungi agle jumme ko, (She stood up and now was walking backwards facing Taani,she didn't realize that Arnav walked in her room , she was yelling and singing in full swing)Aaj jumma hai to aaja aaja, Aaja aaja aaja aaja heeeyyy!!! ( She starts doing Mithun Da's disco step )

Khu: Chumma chumma de de jumma chumma de de chummaJumme ke din kiya jumme ka wada,Jumme ko tod diya jumme ka wada,Le aa gaya re phir jumma jumma...

Smiling and happily she turns to do another step, but her voice got stuck to her throat when she saw Arnav standing right next to her. She kept moving her lips continuing the song with a straight blank face but her voice wasn't coming out.

Arn: What the... Main pichle 5 min se bahar tumhara wait kar raha hu aur tum ho ki ye... ye Shanivaar ki raat Amitabh k sath wala programme chalu kar rakha hai andhar.

Taani quickly closes the zip of Khushi's suitcase.Khushi clears her throat and replies back,

Khu: Toh hume batana chaiye tha na ki aap humara intezar kar rahe hai, hum jaldi bahar aa jate.

Arna: Anjali di ne tumhe inform kia tha na? Wo kaafi nahi tha?

Khu: Anjali di? Nahi toh, unhone hume phone hi nahi kia.

Arn: (paused for a few min) Shayad number nai mila unhe. (Looks at both the girls) Anyways, bohot time waste kar dia mera, now lets leave. (Khushi takes her luggage and walks out. She hugged Taani)

Khu: Aap chinta mat kijiye Taani, hum kuch na kuch upai zaroor sochenge ki uss akdu Rey ka dimag kaise sahi thikane pe lana hai wo.

Taani just smiled back "Uski fikar tum mat karo Khushi, main Rey ko handle kar lungi." Khushi just smiled back and enters in the car. Arnav looked at Taani as he was expecting her to walk in too,

Khu: (to Arnav) Taani aaj humare saath nahi aa rahi.

Arnav takes a deep breath out of frustration and starts his car engine and drives away as he had no more patience for any drama.

Scene Shifts

St.theresa School,

Taani walked in the rehersal hall. It was her duty to pass on Arnav's message to Rey that if he wants then he can come back home. He was sitting on the floor and tying his shoe lace. Taani walks in.

Taa: Wo apko ek message dena tha.

Rey looks at the ground and at his shoe again, not saying a word. Taani now folds her hand out of frustration,

Taa: Dekhiye, muje pata hai ki apko mujse koi baat nai karni, and trust me ab main bhi apse maafi mangne ya phir apne aap ko defend karne nahi ayi hu. I'm done with that.

Rey was shocked with her response. He stands up puts his hands in his pocket and stares at her,

Rey: (attitude) Oh! I hope ye kuch important nai hai, Because (glances at his watch) 2 min mein mere students ane wale hai. Toh jo bhi tum kehne ayi ho na, usse wapus leke jao becoz I'm busy.

Saying this he turns his back towardsTaani, Taani shuts her eyes for few seconds and then walks towards him and makes him face her and pushes him towards the wall with her hand on his chest (LLHH ,imagine one arm distance pose, Rey keeps looking at her hand and then at her face)

Taa: Baat toh apko sunni padegi Rey. Wo bhi kaan khol ke sunni padegi. (Removes hand, Rey was shocked so he silently looks at her, she looks around as she didn't know how to put her words together) Wo... Khushi ji k office mein.. (pauses for few minutes,finaly takes a deep breath) Khushi Anjali di ko mili thi aur Arnav ji ne yeh kaha tha unse ki unko apke ghar ane mein koi problem nahi hai. Infact Anjali di toh bass usi din ka wait kar rahi hai jab aap wapus ayenge.

Rey was even more shocked now, there was a turmoil of emotions within him, he was confused, happy, curious, excited.

Rey: (smiling with tears)Kya?? Kya kaha tumne? Arnav bhai ne.. main.. unhone muje maaf kia aur Anjali di...Anjali di bhi chahti hai ki main wapus aau. Wo dono sachme chahte hai ki main.. main wapus se aau.. they miss me? Wo dono abhi bhi meri parwah karte hai?

He holds Taani's arms out of excitement

Rey: kaho na Taani?? Aur kya kaha unhone? Mere bare mein pooch rahe the wo? Kya kaha Khushi ne unse?

Tani had tears in her eyes watching Rey's reaction. She quickly controls herself.

Taani: (Shaky voice) Bass.. yahi ki agar aap chahe toh aap ghar laut sakte hai.

Rey was breathing heavily out of joy, knowing Arnav;s anger he had almost given up that they will ever take him back. He leaves Taani's arms and covers his face and then rubes his hair. He was the happiest person in the world right now. There was a burden on his chest, but now he felt light, he was dying to meet his Anjali di and his protective Arnav Bhai. He missed them a lot, he couldn't wait to see them back. He turns to say something to Taani but realized that Taani wasn't there anymore. She already left the class and he was about to go out of the class when students rush inside.

Scene Shift

Raizada Mansion

Khushi walks in the house, Anjali di and Nani ji rush and hug to her,

Anj: (happy) Chaliye Khushi ji, apke kamre tak chod k aate hai apko.

Nani ji: Aare Khushi beta, Taani kaha hai?

Khushi looks at both of them and explains to them why Taani didn't come. Anjali felt bad for Taani and sympathy for Rey as he was suffering and blaming himself and Taani for no reason. She just hoped that atleast one of them would come back so that she will try to mend what damage her ex-husband had caused.

Same day evening

Rey reached outside Raizada mansion, he was seeing this place after a year. Memories rushed through his mind, his childhood memories, Arnav protecting him from Nani's scoldings, Anjali di forcing him to eat, his and Taani's memories. That's it, He stops there. He didn't want to think of her.

With loads of guts he push opens the door and walks in. He gets stuck when he watches anjali di. The moment their eyes met and Anjali di couldn't stop the tears from her eyes, It was her baby cousin bro Rey standing right in front of her. Both of them take one step at a time towards each other. Anjali was smiling in between her tears. Rey's heart beat was at its highest peak seeing his sister, the moment they reached near each other, Anjali cupped his face and then moves her hand over his shoulders and arms. She couldn't believe that what she hoped for all this years was finally being fulfilled by God.
