Aastha stepped inside her designated room. The Agnihotris were really sweet to her. She felt as though she met her mother after many years when had Anjali caressed her. Sojal treated Aastha no less than her own sister. And Kavya animated the whole house. That kid of five needed just few seconds to capture anybody's heart. Aastha felt like being at a home that she never had. She had many dreams of seeing her kids grow in a big family, but alas, she dreamt only things that were meant to be shattered. She knew she cannot give Rehaan all this. She wanted him to be happy, but with her. After all, he was the only family she had.
The first week in Agnihotri mansion was peaceful. Aastha sometimes would chitchat with Varad or play with Kavya. Occasionally she would help Anjali and Sojal in the kitchen or just sit there gossiping. She shared a pure business relationship with Shlok, but with Niranjan, it was completely different. Though she shared a cordial relationship with everybody, she was very close to Niranjan. He treated her just like his daughter. She shared most of her problems with him. Most, but she was careful not to give away many things. What touched Aastha was each and every Agnihotri was anticipated to meet Rehaan. One day while Aastha was talking to Rehaan, Varad had snatched her phone away and spoke with him, followed by many others. She could tell from 885 miles away from Rehaan that he was very happy.
Shlok had spoken to Rehaan and he felt very happy after that. That kid had a profound tone, which was beyond his age. If he had not known Rehaan's age, he would have thought that he had spoken to an eighth grader, not 2nd. He entered his room and stared at the photograph of a happy couple. Maybe he would have had a kid, preferably a girl, if only...
Shlok was passing Aastha's room and he found her having a heated conversation with someone via phone. As far as Shlok could depict, it had something to do with Rehaan. He knew it was not etiquette to eavesdrop, but he somehow felt that it was the right thing to do. He did not know what to do when Aastha burst into tears. Her state was pathetic, though Shlok wanted to help; he felt that Aastha wouldn't like it. What would have been the reason behind Aastha's despair, Shlok wondered.
The whole of Agnihotris were excited that weekend because of Rehaan's arrival. Aastha laughed at the irony of her life, a family who knew her son was eager to meet him, but her own family did not know whether she existed or not. Did they know about Rehaan? She did not know. She seldom felt this warmth in her chest for years. The whole family wanted to accompany her to the airport, but she gently refused because she did not want Rehaan to freak out. On her way to airport, she remembered the previous day's conversation she had with that person, and she suddenly, wished Rehaan's holidays away...
