Riddle :
I gave an impression of a melting iced cake,
What I possessed wasn't for anyone to just take.

Like many others, I couldn't help but be charmed,
Before the dreadful tragedy hit me, I was barely even alarmed.
I should have known what awaits me,
For I did see a warning in the greedy red gleam.
But I ignored it & so what followed shouldn't have surprised me,
Finally I became a source of fulfilling not one but two parts of the evil dream.

Do learn a lesson from my life,
Never show-off when your wealth is rife.

Yup..one guess-game over again !..so have fun guessing! ...😊

nope..its not Aunt Putunia's pudding..🤣...sorry couldnt help ROFLing...it was such a funny answer...i suppose u thought of it coz of the "melting iced cake" clue in the riddle...but no thats not it..

"one guess-game over" was a made-up phrase that was frequently used in the riddle thread..it means that anyone could get it right in the first guess since the riddle is so easy..it means, it only takes one guess to put an end to this riddle..😊

ANSWER: "Hepzibah Smith"

I gave an impression of a melting iced cake,
She was a rich, immensely fat old witch who wore a ginger wig &a brilliant pink set of robes that flowed all around her, which according to Harry, gave her the impression of a melting iced cake..
What I possessed wasn't for anyone to just take.
She had many treasured possessions including fer family heirloom Hufflepuff's cup & Salazar Slytherine's locket that she purchased from Borgin & Burke's ...moreover, she guarded her treasured possessions with pride & care...

Like many others, I couldn't help but be charmed,
Tom Riddle was a charming young gentleman who had already charmed his way through Hogwarts & now as a salesman of Borgin & Burke's he was even more charming ..& not so surprisingly Hepzibah too was charmed by him...
Before the dreadful tragedy hit me, I was barely even alarmed.
She had no idea that Tom Riddle was going to kill her..
I should have known what awaits me,
For I did see a warning in the greedy red gleam.
When Hepzibah showed Tom Riddle the slytherines locket & took it away from him, she saw a greedy red gleam in his eyes that momentarily wiped the big smile off her face..
But I ignored it & so what followed shouldn't have surprised me,
But she ignored it & later Tom killed her.
Finally I became a source of fulfilling not one but two parts of the evil dream.
Tom riddle stole the cup & the locket from her ,both of which became his horcruxes..

Do learn a lesson from my life,
Never show-off when your wealth is rife.
Yup..do learn this lesson from her life :)
