the spell is intrinsically effective and powerful to gift one an added advantage in a duel, however by making his signature spell Harry added more feathers to it.

always remaining loyal to fight his quarry.

it was Harry's signature spell and it worked for him.

Instrumental in wiping out the darkest dark,

used in the final duel against Voldemort(darkest dark) to finally end him.

unfortunately a part too in nox-ing the brightest spark.

but it also served a part in putting out(nox) the brightest spark(Dumbledore) when Draco dis-armed him.

I sadly unfurled a trap,

when a beloved was killed in a zap.

Its inadvertent use by Harry revealed him in the "7 Potters" trap and the trap in which Hedwig got killed by the killing curse in a zap(in an instant/suddenly).

I did knock out the pretentious,

by the unsung hero, undoubtedly audacious!

haha well it did knock out Lockhart(the pretentious) in his duel class by Snape(the unsung audacious(meaning bold..brave..) hero)

meaning of pretentious:

1. Claiming or demanding a position of distinction or merit, especially when unjustified.

2. Making or marked by an extravagant outward show; ostentatious.
