Unlike poles just don't attract, but make a magnet.
Opposites just don't love, but Complete each other. - Nikitha(me)
*Flashback*
It was the most awaited day. The 1st day of 9th standard. New classroom, new teachers, new benches, new books. I entered with a fresh feeling around me until I saw that old MCP and it was all gone. MCP... It says Male Chauvinist Pig. I read this in a blog in my vaccation and the 1st word that came out of my mouth was Randhir. It suited him well. He doesn't know yet taht I named him as a MCP. Only Aksahy and I do. I enterd the class groping for un-occupied benches with my eyes. I was very selective about my bench. I was searching for one and halted as I spotted one that suited and satisfied me. I was about to put my bag on it and someone suddenly pushed me aside.
" Hey! Watch out! I was gonna..." I said not looking at that person.
" I don't care if you were about fall. The bench is mine. " said Randhir Singh Shekawath.
" Oh! You! Good. Did you bring this bench from your house? " I said.
" Not exactly but I came here 1st so its mine."
" No I came 1st and you pushed me aside. "
" No arguments Agarwal, Its mine. "
" Is it written in the constitution that who ever comes 1st will get the bench ? "
" My life, my rules. And my rules say that first come first get is right. "
" And you cheated so you are wrong! Now get lost from here its mine. "
" Mine. "
" No, its mine. "
" Agarwal, its mine. "
" Listen Randhir, this is my... "
" What is all this noise for? Settlle down fast. " said the new teacher.
I glared at him for the last time and turned away looking at his oh so annoying smirk. I found an un-occupied seat in the front row so I settled down there. Little did I know that Keerti was gonna sit beside me! Shit I said as she came and sat down with an idiotic smile. Arggghhh!
Randhir's benchmate was his bestie since 8th, Varun. They greeted each other and sat down quietly. They never talked much during the class hours.
Akshay entered the room then. He was late by 10 minutes. The teacher scolded him for being late on the 1st day. He formally apologised and walked in to take his seat. his benchmate continued to be the same one too. How lucky I thought as I mumbled looking at Keerti's face. I kept looking at Akshay for himt o turn at me and say hii. I waved a hello as he looked back and waved one too with a smile.
The class started with our new teacher taking attendance. Then she introduced herself. Mrs. Malhotra. Everybody was keenly listening to her not wanting to create a bad impression about themselves right away. But Keerti, she kept turning back periodically to look at Randhir. She smiled at him every time he looked at her. Which spevcies would feel like smiling at an MCP I thought. He smiled back at her and she blushed as she turned away. She looked so stupid! Anybody would puke at that sight! She was not at all paying heed to Mrs. Malhotra until something hit her.
" Hey you! " said Mrs. Malhotra aiming a chalk at her.
" Umm.. Ye..ye..yess..ss Maa..mm " said Keerti as she stood up.
" Mind your own business will you? " siad Mrs. Malhotra.
" Uh.. Yess... Maa..mm " said Keerti sheepishly.
" And please spare us with your blush " mocked Mrs. Malhotra.
Everybody started giggling at this. She sat down in shame. I was adistically happy for the rest of my day. Today was a intro class on the whole. Some teachers continues from 8th while some were new. It wasn't hectic. The bell rung and we packed our bags and started towards our houses. I was walking past the place which was under construction 3 months ago. It seems to be developed now. I halted there for few minutes. There wern't any pit holes but I remeber the exact place where it happened. I was immediately transported to a reverie as I reminisced those moments. I still can't find out why he affected me so much. His proximity abates my breath. A sudden horn dragged me out of my reverie. I could fight with him till the apocalypse and I could as well fight for him even after apocalypse. Strange I thought as I continued walking.
Days passed and so did months. We finished our half-term examinations and were preparing for our 9th finals. Time and Tide waits for none. I felt it to be true. 9th was a tough competition. Randhir was a tougher one. I knew he was intelligent but I didn't know he could always take the cake. It was either him or me in the 1st position. I missed it once due to ill health. I did beat him twice though! He made me study more to compete him. He go the maximum marks and 1st positiond this time. What irked me was his I-am-the-one-and-only-invicible attitude! I did defeat him too... twice! But I never showed off my head strong attitude.
It was the 2nd week of december and we were to host a farewell in the 1st week of Jan. It is the first and last chance you will ever get to host a farewell in your school life so the teachers compelled everyone to participate in it. We had no other choice but to accept. I wasn't willing to perform on stage so I decided to choreograph a dance form. Contemporary. I took training in my 6th and 7th so it was easier I thought.
But no one could compell Randhir. Volunteers were appointed to chevk if everyone were present in their right places cuz we enrolled our names in different programmes. Randhir cunningly took up volunteering! He rounded the campus just once and then sat down with his books. But one fortunate day, a teacher spotted him and hence forced him to take part. He had to. So he decided to accompany his best friend Varun. To my bad luck I was choreographing Varun and his dance partner, Jenny.
That day, Randhir came in and leaned across a bench watching us dance. His gaze was disturbong my flow. I wasn't exactly looking at him but I knew I was his only focus. I could see his lips turn into a smirk and I was losing my concentration. I stammered and staggered. I did everything but dance. I was supposed be the choreograpger and Jenny was reminding me of my own steps. I figured, I couldn't continue so I called it a day and barged out of the school.
The next day I decide I would not let him affect me. I did the exact same. It was a bit difficult but later I picked it up right. He didn't affect me any more. Me, my so called students, the music and my dance. I succesfully continued this for 3 days. And the fourth day, Randhir frowned at my behaviour. I acted as if he didn't exist. It irked him to peeks. I didn't acknowledge any of it until he strode towards me and snaked his arm around my wrist. It was startling. He positioned my hands in different angles and turned me around.
" I think this would make a better step Agarwal " whispered Randhir in my ears.
"Umm.. Ah?.. Yeah.. Okay.. " I said pulling myself away from him.
He smiled at me devilishly and took his bag to leave the room. Done. I was done with my rehearsals too. I could see nothing but him. A differnt sense of Completeness took over me and I left with my bag in a daze not even telling Varun and Jenny that I was leaving.
Farewell party. The most awaited function for both 9th and 10th classes. Dim lights and dj music... Whats next?
