# 1- Jab We Met Again, Two Years After Breakup

They say life is a cycle. It indeed is; a cycle of joy and pain, a cycle of love and hatred, a cycle of union and separation; all tied in to one thread. Faces you see today aren't seen tomorrow and then after ages when you literally forget them, they come back in to your life. How strange right? Or call it awkward!

Roli Dwivedi wants to flee; run away from the sight of everyone who's in front of her and hide herself in some godforsaken place where no one would find her. She wishes to be forgotten for eternity but looks like that's impossible. She's out in the large spacious hall of her palatial house 'The Dwivedi mansion' surrounded by a bunch of people; some known and some unknown to her, so running away isn't a good idea at all.

Come to talk of it; her marriage is fixed. Well; a decision that was solely made by her father, Anand Dwivedi; one of the most powerful businessmen in Jaipur. Her dad has always been like that; he was the unquestioned authority of her family always. He took decisions for everyone and much like a tradition, everyone obeyed it. The convention was followed even when her sister, Ragini was married off to Laksh Maheshwari, a young businessman from Jaipur. They had never met before but were hitched by their families and quite surprisingly, their marriage worked really well. Ragini and Laksh are so much in love today even after two years of marriage and are expecting their first child in two months. The boost that the success story of his elder daughter's marriage gave to Anand wasn't small and maybe that's the reason he decided to be the captain of Roli's marriage as well.

Imagine, one fine day your dad tells you that your marriage is fixed; with a guy you never saw or heard of. Your world crumbles. Especially when you're carrying the pain of a failed love story deep inside you unknown to everyone. Same is Roli's state. She had had a bitter breakup two years back and it left her with no trust in love. She could probably never keep faith in a male again! All the while, she just tried to forget that dark page of her life and focus on her studies and career. She could even say she was has been successful but only until this marriage proposal came along. She has been told that it's from the family of one of her Papa's business partners, for their son, a young business man, who had already started to build his vast empire in Mumbai. It shocked her; for she herself didn't have a clue if she was over her past relationship and its miserable end. She never knew if she could give her heart to a different person forgetting her past. So she had tried denying it, stating the excuse that she had to study and grow up in her career. But despite being a successful businessman, her Papa is like most fathers in India; he wants to his see his daughter settled, with a good husband and family rather than choosing an independent career. So her excuses didn't work and he decided to proceed with the marriage as a first step of which the groom and his family had come to meet her.

Until this morning, she has been in her tries to stop this somehow. She had tried convincing her mother, Anamika hoping at least she could understand her. But nothing worked. Her mother is an obedient wife, a typical Rajasthani woman whose world lies in her husband. So she just asked her daughter to obey her dad like her sister did. Seeing all doors close before her, she even thought of confessing the real reason behind her denial to her sister, who is nothing less than a best friend to her. But there she had to rethink; her sister is in the happiest phase of her life, with a loving husband around and the joy of motherhood approaching. She didn't want to tense her up saying her story. So she had to give in, letting her family take charge of her life.

It was just few minutes before when her cousins had brought her down where the family had already been present to meet her. Well dressed and ready for the occasion, she felt like nothing but a glass doll whose control was in someone else's hand. She didn't want to see the groom and kept her down all the while, but it worked only until someone from his family asked her to look up at him. She was obliged to do it as her papa too insisted it and when she did, she regretted it.

The face that she sees is the same face she never wanted to lay her eyes upon in this life. It's the same face that's the reason for her agony and disappointment for the past two years. It's the same face that has given her nothing but pain. It's the face of her ex lover Siddhant Bhardwaj.

All she tries to bring in to her mind as he meets her eyes with hers is disgust. She cringes as he smiles at her as if nothing has ever happened, as if he never knew her! How can he behave so, she thinks with a heavy heart. He's still having that super cool expression in his face though she could register few changes in it. He has grown a patch of beard over his formerly clean-shaven face and his hair is now neatly combed contrary to the messy style in the past. Even his dressing style has changed significantly. He's now in a set of crisply ironed formal black shirt and trousers coupled with a cream blazer unlike the past when he used to freak out in cool t-shirts. In fact everything in him has changed expect...except the fact that he's still mouthwateringly handsome. He's still that Greek god with his perfect features and flawless physique. As she thinks all these, her mind unleashes a thick protest. How can you shamelessly admire him Roli? However good looking he's, he's actually a jerk. Someone with nothing called heart. He had broken you; he had used and thrown you! Adrenaline pumps in to her veins with increasing anger and stress until a question strikes her mind. But what's he doing here? After two years why is he back to my life? Could it be that, she thinks with horror. Though she's sure of the answer , she just hopes it's not that. He's not the one. The next moment, her Papa speaks up making her fears come true.

"Roli beta, meet Siddhant. my choice for you.'

Roli's eyes are as large as gooseberries as she looks shockingly at her father and then at Siddhant. So my guess was right; he's my fiance , she thinks as her heart sinks. Is it my father's choice for me? Is it the hands that my father found to safely infest my hands to? This jerk? Does he even know what this cruel soul had done to his daughter? She thinks as her eyes begin to get moist. Meanwhile Siddhant looks intently at Roli with his eyes that seemed to be capable to go deep in to infinity. All the overwhelming emotions in it doesn't go unnoticed by him. I know the reasons behind this Roli, he thinks quietly.

"And Siddhant beta, so this is my princess; my Roli.' Anand 'introduces' Roli to Siddhant breaking his reverie.

He smiles and looks at Roli who's literally burning him down with her gaze. His lips curl in to a short, mischievous smirk which sends a wave of unexplainable anger inside Roli. Look how he's smiling messing up my life! Heartless jerk! thinks Roli with flaring nostrils just trying to keep her emotions in check. Siddhant smiles yet again confusing Roli and says

"Well...I know her...like, really well!'

This shocks Roli to the bone. What does he mean by 'know her'? Is he going to spill the beans over their relationship? Is he going to tell my family that I've been in love with him? Oh God, what's he going to say, thinks Roli with bated breath. Meanwhile Roli's and Siddhant's families are surprised alike.

"How's that beta?' asks Sunitha, Siddhant's mom curiously.

"I can tell you Ma!' Siddhant says shooting a glance at Roli and thereby making her anxious about what's he gonna speak.
