Be careful who you make memories with. Those things can last a lifetime. -Ugo Eze.
The dazzling sunlight from the window woke me up and took me back in the normal world. I opened my eyes and I realized with little surprise that this time I had slept badly in my office, sitting on a chair and using the desk as for a pillow.
Certainly that was not really the best woke up that you could hope for.
I leaned back in my chair. After a few moments to relax, so if you could define it, I realized that I still had to finish my work, so I turned on my laptop and re-checked the work.
I put in print and when the sheets came out, still warm from the printer,I was finally satisfied.
Of course, I was tired, but it was definitely worth for the effort. The article came out very well. Today, fortunately, I had a day off and I was convinced that I deserve it as my manager was reluctant to give me days like this.
She was the classic woman who was too diligent in her work and everyone thought she was mad, and after two years working here I began to understand that that title was not so wrong.
- Oops, sorry Miss Gupta, I thought there was no one - said my secretary.
- Do not worry, Radhika I had to be home by now - I explained.
- Today, if I remember correctly it's your day off - she remarked.
- Exactly, and I'm about to leave - I told her.
I saw her watching me for a few seconds, then she shook her head almost resigned.
- Do not tell me yesterday night you stayed in office? - she asked even she knew the answer.
- I had to finish an article. Indeed, here, give it to the boss. You never know she changes her mind and makes me work even today. Ah, another thing, call me a taxi please - I said smiling.
- Well, I'll do it. See you tomorrow - she said and took the sheet with the article and left the office.
I gathered my things and slipped all in the bag and then I left the office heading straight to the elevator that took me a few minutes on the ground floor.
I went out and left behind the large building, whose had given me work since last two years: Vogue India, the most influential fashion magazine in India.
I took the taxi and after giving the address of my apartment, I began to look out the window. After 15 minutes, we arrived at the destination and after paying I entered in the hallway of the home where Mr. Raina, the doorman, greeted me warmly.
I took the elevator and walked to my apartment and entering, I looked around. As expected there was no one, but there was note attached to the refrigerator. I run to read it.
Work, work and more work. When are you going to take a few days off? You're incredible. However if you are looking us, we're at my home. A kiss . Avinash.
A smile came naturally to my lips. He told me to be incredible to me when he was the only one to be so, without whom I would not be able to move forward in recent years.
I was lucky to have him and sometimes I wondered what I had done good in life to deserve someone like him.
I took back the bag resting on the couch and I went out on my way to the coffee shop. I bought coffee, chocolate and biscuits, then took the lift again stopping in the apartment, however, in the apartment of Avinash.
I took the key from bag and went in.
What I saw left me incredulous: there was a hell of a mess, but after all there was to be expected. It was still the home of Avinash.
I saw him sleeping peacefully on the couch surrounded by two beautiful children, and among them he looked like him, a kid a bit too grown up.
I opened the curtain slightly by bringing a bit of light and then left a gentle kiss on the forehead of children and Avinash woke up immediately.
- Khushi already here? But what time is it? - he asked yawning
- It's half past nine - I answered as he rose from the couch trying not to wake the children.
- May I ask why did you sleep last night at the office? - he asked curious.
- Last night when I was about to close the office the boss came and asked me to write a new article, so I stayed and worked there with no distractions - I answered sincerely.
- When you had to deliver it? - he asked.
I clearly remember the words in my head.
At nine o'clock tomorrow I want to find the article on my desk at nine, not a minute later.
- This morning at nine o'clock - I replied.
- I'm saying again your boss is absurd and crazy - he remarked, smiling and making me smile even.
- To make me forgive, I brought the breakfast - I said showing him the bag.
- Well, then you're forgiven - he told me smacking me a kiss on the cheek and stealing the bag heading into the kitchen.
-Leave something to the children - I said following him.
I did not want to wake them, at least not yet.
- Oh, Khushi, yesterday I got a letter for you. The doorman called me and I talked to the postman, who made me put a signature. He said he had to deliver it personally, he could not leave it in the hole and saw that you were not there, Mr. Raina decided to call me - he told me, pointing to an envelope on the kitchen table.
- What's that? - I asked.
- I do not know. I did not open as my name is Avinash Malhotra and not Khushi Kumari Gupta - he answered and ate the biscuit. .
- Funny. Who is the sender? - I asked him.
- Lavanya Singh Raizada - he answered me taking a serious expression.
I knew what he meant, but perhaps he did not know how I'll react.
I had always tried to not think about that painful past which were the Raizada's, but La was always my little sister, my best friend, best friend of many events, so many jokes and games, lots of laughter and tears, my best friend ...who was once my everything, my world.
I did not know whether open or not, but I knew that if she had sent me a letter it had to be something important.
She knew why I wanted to keep myself away from the past and she respected my decision even if it had gone to the expense of our friendship, but now something had pushed her to send me that letter and I had to check what it was.
I opened it and took out the paper and see everything was a note of the ivory color, very refined and elegant writing:
On July 23 Lavanya Singh Raizada and Arjun Saxena begin a new life full of dreams, happiness and love.
We want to share with you this wonderful moment that reflects the joy of our union.
The wedding will be held at Raizada's Mansion at 11.30
To say that I did not expect was to lie.
I knew both of them loved each other and had always been convinced that one day they would get married. Well, that day had arrived and I couldn't be not happy for this couple.
- What? - Avinash asked me after giving me the time to read.
- La is going to marry, with Arjun, of course - I replied right away.
- It's a wedding invitation? - he asked curious.
- Yes, July 23 - I answered.
- Are you going? - he asked seriously.
Would I go there? Good question.
Go meant one thing: to come to terms with the past, a past that has a name. Arnav Singh Raizada. Was I ready?
- Mom, you're back - Surbhi yelled, running towards me and embraced me.
- Yes darling, I'm sorry for last night, but I had to work. - I said, hugging her and another little brat jumped on me, embracing and filling me with kisses before looking at Avinash who was eating another biscuits.
- Mom I also want the biscuits - Nannav said looking at me with puppy eyes.
- Do not worry love, there is also for you. I've got the one you like - I told him taking his biscuit out from the box.
My life was changed.
The Raizada's were part of the past.
Was I ready to relive that past?

So, Subhi and Nannav Khushi's biological kids..? who is the father ? Arnav ? What is the past...? Will Khushi gather the strength to face it head on for the sake of partaking in Lavanya's happiness and for herself too ?
