Chapter 51
Tossing on the bed for hours, sid just couldn't fall asleep. From the time jamanlal mentioned about shifting to the new house with roli, sid was feeling restless.
Though he was not fine with roli leaving, he didn't say a word about it. For he knew how much roli had missed her father over this one year she was away from him. If he had asked her to stay and not leave, then it would throw her in to a dilemma. And roli couldn't choose between sid and her father.
Considering all the things thoughtfully, sid remained silent. But, he lost his composure at the thought of staying away from roli.
When he reached the hall in the following morning, he found roli and sujata there. Rajender, mataji and jamanlal had already left to the new house.
Sid's gaze slowly landed on roli. She looked rather calm. Though she got dress up for the house warming occasion, she didn't look as vibrant as she used to. The reason for which, he knew better than anyone.
Roli casually turned her head and her eyes got fixed on sid, who was gazing at her, standing in the stairs. When their eyes met, sid moved near her.
The smile on her lips, which used to enlighten his soul, was now missing. Sid couldn't bear to see her sad face. And he was definitely not going to send her away with the same sad face.
"Are you really roli?" Sid queried to ease her up. She frowned at his question.
"You are so silent without any blabbering. I doubt you're not roli" he chuckled, teasingly.
"Stop teasing her and go start the car. We are being late" sujata slapped on Sid's arm playfully.
"Let's go then" sid walked away while roli followed him with a pout.
About a thirty minutes of drive later, they reached the destination. Jamanlal had invited only a few of his very close friends for the occasion. Roli invited Sid's friends.
After performing the pooja and having lunch, one by one the guests started leaving. And at last only Sid's family was left.
Jamanlal and Rajender started discussing about business deals. While mataji and sujata were chatting among themselves.
Roli felt tired and went to her room. Sid saw her leaving and he silently followed her.
Entering the room, sid found roli standing in the middle of the room and staring at the empty walls.
"Are you planning about how to decorate those walls?" Sid walked in and stood behind her.
Roli turned around to face him. "This room designing was selected by you. And it will always going to remind me of you even if you are not here" she spoke looking straight in to his eyes.
Sid froze at her reply. He glanced at the room again and realized the designing was indeed of his choice.
"from now on I won't be staying with you" Roli said with a lump in her throat.
Sid looked in to her teary eyes and said after a couple of seconds of silence "yeah.. finally, I will get some peace now".
He said so to avoid letting her cry. But, she didn't seem to be in the mood of bickering with him for teasing.
"Won't you miss me?" She asked with a pout.
"Miss?" Sid chuckled. "No. Actually I'm going to join office from tomorrow. So, I would be very busy. I won't even get time to miss you" he continued to piss her off.
"Fine. Don't miss me. I won't disturb your peace from now on" with that tears rolled down her cheeks.
Sid looked startled. He was just teasing her to stop her from being emotional. But, he failed pathetically.
"No crying.." Sid tried to hold her but she shoved off his hands.
"Roli.. stop being a cry baby now" he felt like as if he was comforting a kindergarten kid.
"Enough, Roli" cupping her cheeks he glared at her. Only he knows how much he hates her tears.
Roli stopped shoving him off after receiving his glare. Keeping her gaze to the ground, she sobbed silently.
Sid slowly pulled her in to his arms, wrapping his arms around her. Roli snuggled in to his embrace and hugged him tightly.
They remained in each other's embrace without speaking a word, feeling the other's warmth which they needed to bear with the distance.
"Are you really not going to miss me?" Roli raised her head up to look at him, still being in his embrace.
Sid smiled inside looking at her puppy face but, didn't admit he would miss her. He would admit only if he could express how much he'd miss her, right?
Without answering her question, Sid started moving closer to her face. Roli's cheeks turned red at his piercing gaze. And her blushful face turned on Sid.
Roli's eyes slowly shut down as her grip got tightened around his waist. Sid's lips touched hers' like a soft feather.
Not going any further, Sid moved to her ears. "I will miss teasing you like this".
Roli immediately opened her eyes to find him laughing out loud. It didn't take time for her to realise he was just playing his teasing game with her like always.
"You only know to tease me" Roli started beating him whilst he tried to defend himself.
"I won't miss you anymore" pissed off from Sid, roli stormed out of the room with a huff.
Reaching the hall, Sid controlled his laughter while Roli glared at him.
"I think we should leave before it gets late" mataji reminded.
"Roli beta, take care" Sujata went near Roli and said, concerned. While Roli hugged her.
Mataji, Rajender and Sujata walked out first while jamnalal accompanied them to parking area.
Roli and Sid were at a little distance from them. Sid moved near her but she turned her face away from him.
"Bye" Sid said, nudging her elbow. Roli glared at him. While he Chuckled.
"Don't be so happy. I won't let you live peacefully even if I'm away from you" Roli said in a furry.
"I know" Sid chuckled, making her even more mad. A few minutes later, sid left with his family.
Roli hadn't talked to sid until the next day in night. She was in her bed, prepared to sleep. But, her heart and mind forced her to talk to sid. She took her phone and dialed his number.
"Missing me already?" sid asked, answering the call immediately as if he was waiting for her call.
"No, I'm not missing anyone" roli denied, remembering how he played her the previous day.
"Really?" Leaning back to the headboard of the bed, sid raised his eyebrows.
"I just called to ask how was your first day in office" roli picked up a reason.
"It was good" sid replied in a few words.
"That's it?" Roli queried.
"You just wanted to know how was my day. I said it's good. Now go sleep, bye" sid was about to hung up the call.
"Wait wait.." roli stopped, making him chuckle.
"You want to say something" though he knew what she wanted, he still played dumb to tease her.
"I'm not getting sleep. Can you keep talking, please" roli asked in a puppy voice, finally letting go of her anger.
Sid shook his head like it was her usual drama. Then he started talking about what all he did in the office and all the other things.
They both continued to talk in phone for hours until the sleep consumed them.
