Part 17:

Full of anticipation and excitement shilpa was now getting ready for the sangeet. I should go ahead wth this rite? No shilpa!! What if he doesn't feel the same way about you? But today I don't care… I will tell him… definitely.. don't change your mind shilpa… tell him before its too late!!

Just as she had finished dressing, muskaan entered her room.

"Shilpa can you help—Wow!! You look awesome!! Aaj toh kafi saare ladkon ke hosh khone wale hain " she looked at shilpa and winked.

"Look at yourself first! Rahul toh aaj pakka flat hone wala hai! "

"Haye! Kash… Use ladne se fursat mile toh who mujhe dekhe na!! Anyways can you help me with this dupatta… woh engagement wali raat ko tune jaise liya tha na waise hi kuch karde…"

"Haan.. sure aana…"

In Sid's room:

"Arre yaar! Sid sidha khada reh na!! Why are you fidgeting like kids??" armaan said.

"Because I am feeling ticklish dude… Right now I am very conscious of the fact that ita guy touching me!!" sid replied and atul and rahul started laughing.

"Kya armaan itne jaldi party badal di tune… Ab ridz ka kya hoga?? How could you?? And sid you!!" rahul pulled their leg.

"Rahul!" armaan warned.

"Okay! Chill dude!" rahul said.

"Guys! You all ready??" Billy comes in.

"Dad! Thank god you are here. In dono cartoons ko plz yaha se le jaye!! So that I can help sid here!" armaan said.

"Okay! But you guys hurry up… The sangeet will start in some time but a lot of things need to be taken care of. Rahul, Muskaan is decorating the lights for the function… go make yourself useful and help your fiance!!"

Now that armaan and sid were alone in the room, sid decided to take this opportunity and talk to armaan about shilpa.

"Armaan, tune shilpa se baat ki?"

His question took armaan by surprise. Sid sounded serious.

"Kyun? Aise kyun puch raha hai? Did she tell you something?"

"Arre no… I was just curious. I think you should talk to her soon. Have you atleast made sure she knows how you feel about her? I think you should tell her the truth soon."

"What's with the interrogation? Why the sudden questions?"

The sooner she knows about it the better, armaan. She has no idea that you love her too. And I have first hand experience of how a perfectly simple and beautiful relationship can get soiled because of lack of communication.

"Nothing! I just…" sid said.

Armaan smiled and looked at him.

"Don't worry. I have it all planned out. But thanks… Anyway I wanted to talk to you about something for quite sometime now. Good you reminded me. This is probably not the right time but--"

"Ugh!! Just say it already!!!" Sid interrupted.

Armaan sighed. "Well, when I first told you that shilpa is the girl I like, I lied to you. This whole initially started of as a pretend thing. I thought that if I make you guys believe that I have someone in my life ou guys will stop bothering me and it'll be easy for Ridhhima to move on…"

"What? Armaan!!" Sid was shocked. And that was the understatement of the year.

"Let me finish. Ridhhima already thought that shilpa and I had something going on. So I just went along with it for riddhima. I thought that I could pretend that I like shilpa for a while---"

"--- and then throw her away like she had no feelings of her own." A small voice, barely audible, finished his sentence for him and armaan's blood ran cold. Because he knew that voice, could recognize it anywhere. He turned around to look at shilpa.

Tears strolling down her lovely face, she entered the room, holding a rose in one hand. She looked at him through pain-flooded green eyes as the colour drained from her face. Regret clutched Armaan's chest and coldness seeped over him.

He stood and started toward her. "Shilpa..."

She held up a hand to stop him. "So was I just a means to an end here? Just a way so you could free yourself from the guilt that riddhima couldn't move on because of you?"

The hurt in her voice ripped him right down the middle. "No. listem shilpa let me explain---" armaan pleaded.

"Please don't… I don't think my heart can handle anymore blows. Sid, this is what I feared. I never allowed myself to believe in love for a moment. But you see it doesn't work out for everyone like it did for you and ridz di…"

"Armaan…" her voice broke, and it killed Armaan to see the pain and hurt in her eyes.

"You know what sucks about falling for a guy you know you're not right for… you fall anyway because…." She took a deep breath and continued. "Because you just hope that he might be different. I really was a fool wasn't I??" she gave self-deprecating laugh and ran away from there.

Armaan was stunned. Sid was both outraged on behalf of shilpa and sad for his friend armaan. Although he had no doubt in his mind that armaan truly and completely loved shilpa, he also knew that it was going to be very difficult for armaan to convince her of that fact.

"Armaan…" sid tried to gauge what was going on in his mind.

Armaan shook himself out of his daze. "Did she just say that she had fallen for me?" armaan asked just to be sure.

When sid nodded, armaan took the first breath of relief. Not all was ruined. He could still feel the dread of the moment when she had entered unannounced and misunderstood him. The very thought of losing shilpa before having any real chance with her was something he could never conceive. The pain and agony in her voice had pierced through his heart. But he would fix it, she loved him, and he would convince her of his love too, no matter what the cost.

"Armaan what are you going to do?"

"I am going to convince her… I don't care how long it takes, what it takes…"

"Aren't you going after her??"

"I know her… she wont listen to reason right now. She is much more stubborn than I am. She is hurt and angry and if I talk to her now…" armaan took a deep breath. "Lets go down. The function is about to start."

"Denial! Classic Shock symptom… Please don't go crazy! Sambhalo apne aap ko. Dude! Aren't you worried that she won't turn up??"

"I am not in denial! But if there is anything that I have learnt about shilpa, its that she always puts the needs of others before hers. She would never let riddhima down by not showing up at the sangeet. I am sure she there right now, smiling for the sake of others, hiding her pain in her smile. But let me tell you this…" and he smiled "… not for long…"

"Chalo sab log yaha aa chuke hain. So, welcome everyone to this auspicious evening of Sid and ridz's Sangeet. I am very happy that my two of my best friends are getting married. So, Sid guys ready for some real masti and dhamaka?? Let's see what sid'd bachelor friends have to say about his wedding??

Sid and Ridz were seated on the right side of the stage with shilpa and muskaan next to ridz. Rahul, Atul Shubhankar and the other guys came on stage and started singing and dancing to :

Suddenly a rapper came up on stage and started rapping:

Rahul and Atul went towards their respective partners and pulling them on the stage stared singing:

They were now dancing in two's with anjali atul together and rahul dancing with muskaan. All of them were having a blast.

Suddenly the rapper pulled Anjali towards him and started dancing with her. Atul glared at him. He pulled anjali away from the rapper and pushed him off the stage. Suddenly everybody stated laughing and the gang started singing:

Everybody was enjoying having a blast except Shilpa. She was here just for her di. If not for Ridz, she wouldn't have come out of her room at all. After what she had heard in Sid's room…

Oh even the memory of Armaan telling sid about his stupid plan brought such intense pain!

She was standing in one corner of the stage. She knew Ridz had seen her not participating in the Sangeet until now. She also knew she was going to have to answer a lot of Ridhima's questions. Rahul and Atul walked up to her and dragged her in the middle…

"Your turn Shilpa! Come on, one song!" She smiled and thinking of Armaan started:

Sid looked at her. He hoped armaan won't mess it up. He had felt her pain in her voice when she had run away from his room earlier. Shilpa looked at him and he gave a reassuring nod.

Shilpa looked around but couldn't find Armaan anywhere and wondered what he was upto now?

Armaan came up on stage to stand up in fromt of Shilpa. He went around her in circles singing this song and looking at her intently.

Shilpa looked at him then. She shook her head. What are you trying to play at, Armaan? Isn't it enough that you have destroyed my heart that now you are convincing me of a lie.
