It was raining heavily outside. The kind of rain that makes you restless. The kind that nudges you to revisit your past with a pull so strong, you can’t ignore it. You remember the good moments, the way you were happy. And then the moments of doom. Like those slow-motion scenes in documentaries, just seconds before disaster hits.

He felt a soft touch on his shoulder, followed by a gentle voice. "Let it go, Arnav."

He turned slowly, ruefully and met the gaze of the only woman who had never left his side. The only woman who had stayed through his best and his worst. His sister, Anjali. Over the years, she had become his mother, his friend, his anchor.

“I am ok, Di.”

She smiled, caressing his face. “I can read your eyes, Arnav. And I know you were thinking about her… and him.” she almost sobbed at the last part.

He clenched his fists, “No, he doesn’t matter to me, neither does she.”

Another voice, a man’s, this time confronted him, “Is that why you looked him up, the other day, Arnav?”

Arnav looked shocked at having caught.

“I am a lawyer Arnav, and I make it my business to look after this family. I know you looked him up. And that’s ok. All I am wondering is why. When it was you who threw him out.”

“I don’t want to talk about him.”

Shyam sighed and nodded, looking at Anjali, “whatever you decide Arnav. Me and your sister will always be with you. But I will just say, it is high time you get a closure, if not for anyone else but you.”

Patting his shoulder in comforting way, shyam left with Anjali.

Leaving arnav watching the raining soon turning to thunderstorm.

It was raining the same way that day too.

The day he had made a big mistake of his life. Of lowering his guard and letting her in. Of throwing away his caution, his reputation, heck, his relationship, for her.

But she had proved she was not worthy of his devotion, his love. She had proved that he was a fool to trust her innocent face and sweet talks.

No more. He had thankfully opened his eyes on time. And then broke all ties with her. Even when it hurt him. Even when it felt like facing a merciless blow. But he endured.

And continued to do so for 5 years.

Now the fate was trying to bring him face-to-face to her. Why was he feeling as if it was going to bring another twist in their story?
