Additional Author's Note
Hi Everyone!
I am Ash. I am writing this note to clear a few things.
All the people depicted in this story are fictitious. Having said that, if at any point you feel that I know this type of aunty, it would be perfectly valid. Or if you feel that whoa, I remember that something similar had happened in my Pinky di's wedding then it is entirely possible that something similar has happened at least a million times in weddings that have happened in the last hundred years. All weddings are similar and unique, both at the same time.
Weddings across all cultures are chaotic and full of drama. Although the day is supposed to be about the happy couple, it's the relatives who get the most attention. And in all probabilities, the ones throwing the loudest tantrums are the ones who have the least at stake and are the people who have met the bride or a groom at the most, twice in their entire lifetime.
I am a sarcastic person and the entire undertone of this story could be sarcastic. If sarcasm is something that makes to uncomfortable or triggers you off in the wrong way, I would suggest that you stay away from this story. Having said that I would like to assure you that I am NOT the kind of person who cracks a joke at the expense of someone else. So when I say so and so was commenting on the bride being thin while trying to fit her large self in a chair, I am simply showing the contrast between the one speaking and the one who is being spoken about. I mean no disrespect to obese people. I am myself on the healthier side of the weighing scale and hence know the struggles of being overweight. I also happen to know a few friends who are slim and perfectly healthy but get told by completely random strangers that they need to eat more or else they would face troubles in the future.
I have never been on the male side of the story (obviously) and so I have no idea what they go through. So if the story focuses more on the girl's struggles, it is because I have only seen that side of the story. I, by no means, mean that men have it easier than women. They don't. They have their own set of struggles which I don't know anything about.
This story is a mixture of fiction (my imagination) plus some incidents from the handful of weddings that I have attended and from the scores of wedding horrors and comedy stories that my parents, my granny have narrated to me. I am NOT targeting any particular community in any way. Weddings across all cultures are equally chaotic and dramatic.
So, let's embark on this journey that is bound to be sometimes chaotic, sometimes tragic, sometimes funny and most of all memorable.
