Little hope

As the wind blew furiously Prarthana walked aimlessly and mindlessly she was wishing for death, just got rejected at the Mandap. This isn't the first time she got rejected but those weren't at a big marriage venue with a lot of guests those were simple meetings by the two families

Now her mum and dad will be insulted again and this time she don't know if they can take it, a slight smile appear on her lips as she catch sight of a speeding car , all her thoughts were filled with suicide

" Papa, Maa , Gayatri, Piya please forgive me", she took a step forward into the road breathing quite heavily her breath produced fear , pain, sadness and even confusion but luckily the driver could step on the brakes before his newly gotten Ferrari would hit her

"What the hell ! Are you serious right now young lady " a man in an exquisite suit came down yelling at Prarthana " this car is new why in the world would a little woman move around so late at night and also dressed like a bride"

His tall figure was intimidating Prarthana simply apologized without daring to look at his face , she didn't know when her pleading turned into tears, an uncontrollable one

" I didn't mean to yell at you why are you taking it so serious please don't cry don't cry maybe we started at the wrong foot . My name is Shivansh Randhawa what's your name

Prarthana" , she raised her head and as she saw him her tears seemed to stop flowing down he smiled warmly at her bringing out his hand to shake her .

He offered to drop her home which she for some unknown reason couldn't reject simply nodding to every word he uttered to her as he drove her home , he was also smittened by her maybe it's her voice, maybe it's her face, maybe her innocence

Is this destiny is the creator really telling me something maybe I am not meant to die now and also his name it sounded familiar he mentioned being a known business man maybe I have heard about him from the news her thoughts wandered

Three weeks later

Stepping into the house a tray filled with pepper almost crashed into Prarthana ,this was the doing of her mum Seema.

"You are so stupid and shameless what exactly would you teach your younger siblings" Seema voice was so harsh and filled with disdain

Before Prarthana would say anything Seema had already taken a broom using it to hit her, now she was crying kneeling before her . This has been the routine and even Prarthana have gotten tired of running she always made a mistake in Seema's sight without even making a mistake.

Mum stop it " Gayatri rush to Prarthana's side hugging her. "Maa it's just a silly engagement moreover it's not like that Raju is even capable please give Prarthana sometime her marriage got cancelled just three weeks ago

This statement of Gayatri made Seema even angrier , taking the broom hitting it on Gayatri's head

Oh ! I was supposed to meet another suitor again so he would reject me just like every other ones Prarthana thought still quiet as Seema went on and on about how ungrateful she was .

If not for my mother in law I would never had taken in a stray child like you neither would I have taken in that sister of yours and now you have become some trophy . If you don't get married how will I get the jewels my mother in law have left for me? Huh !

"Maa please calm down let Piya not hear you after all she doesn't know you aren't her biological mother" Gayatri pleaded helping Prarthana up

I am sorry Maa I shouldn't have left without telling you Raunak was in an accident so I had to rush to him she said innocently lowering her head

" What ! Raunak again. Are you a doctor Prarthana? are you a doctor I was so humiliated today I almost buried my head under the ground . You have been rejected four times and I surely know this one would be the closed chapter for all your rejection but no , Prarthana doesn't want to leave this home . Will you kill yourself because you were ditched at the marriage altar? "

Later that evening the house was now as quiet as a graveyard everyone were fast asleep but Prarthana. She had too much on her mind to sleep staring at Piya then at Gayatri her eyes roamed around the room

Grandma is dead and now I don't even know who is my father she muttered to herself before reaching out to the bed

Prarthana and Piya were saved from an accident by Gayatri grandma thirteen years ago which is Piya's age now. Piya was still a baby then and Prarthana was ten surely a ten year old is meant to know some details about her family but Prarthana lost all her childhood memories and even temporary couldn't talk due to trauma . The old woman said a woman was engulfing the baby tightly do must have died due to it but she couldn't stay around because they were attacked by armed people andthe woman made her promise to look after the girls
