Chapter 1: The Unlikely Reunion

The sun dipped low over Mumbai, casting a golden hueacross the skyline. Rey sat by the window in his apartment, gazing out at thecity that had once been his stage — the home of St. Louis Dance Academy.

Laughter. Victories. Heartbreak.
So many memories echoed in his mind, but one stood above the rest — Kriya.

It had been years since she left, vanishing without muchof a goodbye. He’d told himself he’d moved on. Life had gone on. But every timehe danced, there was a part of him that still reached out — silently,stubbornly — hoping she might return.

Today, something felt different.

His phone buzzed. A message. He opened it without asecond thought.

REUNION: St. Louis Alumni Showcase.
A gathering of the academy's past stars — to reconnect, relive, and evenperform.

His eyes scanned the guest list.

Kriya Ghai.

His heart skipped. His fingers hovered over the replybutton, uncertain. Could he really face her again, after everything?

Just then, a knock sounded at the door. Rey turned, surprised — he wasn’t expecting anyone.

He walked over, opened it slowly.

And there she was.

Kriya.

Framed in the hallway light, looking both exactly the same and entirely different. Her hair was longer now, her eyes still carried that familiar spark — but also something new. A hint of hesitation.

“Rey,” she said softly, her voice tinged with nerves. “I wasn’t sure if you’d be here. Swayam said we could meet before the alumni event... I hope it’s okay that I came.”

Behind her, Swayam and Sharon stepped into view. Sharon gave Rey a small smile — the kind that said you’ll be okay.

Rey stood frozen for a moment, the room around him fading. All the years, all the distance — they collapsed into this one impossible second.

He finally took a breath and stepped aside.

“Yeah,” he said quietly. “Come in.”
