Chapter 6
SS: Mere Brother ki Dulhan.
"Common end this already" Arnav groaned as the quite filmy scene in front of him was nowhere towards its conclusion. Payal and Akaash were busy taking blessings from everyone as Payal was going to her maiden home to complete the post-wedding rituals and Arnav counted every second so that he could get away from this place and rush to his office and give his buzzing mind a break.
If only Arnav knew that asking Khushi to leave would create havoc in his mind, he would've done everything from refraining him doing so. He had come to conclusion that he was he really pissed at her because what she said because it was her fault that he lost his control over his mind and emotions but from the moment he woke up, Khushi being a tyrant was busy ruling his head bringing him a headache. When he came out of his bedroom, he glanced at the living room and found no sign of her and made a mental note to teach her a good lesson from coming late but realized a second later that, she was not coming anymore. Then when the doorbell rang, Arnav literally jumped on the dining table, thinking finally she was here, but it turned out to be NK and again, his hopes came shattering to the ground.
He was desperate to leave for his office so he could focus and bring the reign of the lady ruling his mind to an end and start building an impregnable and unconquerable wall so that he could be complete concealed from the world; once again.
"Bhai I'll join you in a while" Akaash said as he hugged his brother and Arnav couldn't be gladder.
"Akaash you can't be going to office today! It's the second day to your reception" Anjali chided and Akaash laughed.
"Di.. what will I do then? I'll drop Payal ji at home and then go to office, then bring her back and stay with her."
"Di Akaash's right. It's better rather than wasting his time here" Arnav said
"Haw! We waste your time?" Anjali asked as if she was quite hurt and Anrav rolled his eyes.
"Not you Di, but your plans" He patted her shoulder and walked towards the door, sighing of relief.

Khushi sat on the sofa, adjacent to her window so that she could come to know when her beloved sister would arrive. It wasn't as if Payal's arrival would lessen her pain, it would just create some activity in the house which would distract her.
Last night, she had finally announced it to herself that she was beginning to fall for the man who drove some sadistic pleasure from hurting her and that she abhorred him for doing so. She had finally confessed it to herself that she hated him way more than she liked him and there was no way she would ever see his face again. She'll beat the boss in his own game and make sure she makes him taste his own words. She was quite aware that he enjoyed flirting with her and he would be arriving sometime soon to placate her but this time, Khushi will make sure that she shows him the other side of Khushi Kumari Gupta; the obdurate side of her.
And then the honk of the horn made her jump as she saw her jiji sitting in the front seat of a gleaming white Corolla. Despite suffering due to the wounds at her heart, a genuine smile crept her face; her sister was Mrs. Raizada now, living the grand life the two sisters had always imagined and anticipated and now DM had made her jiji's dream come true. She had suffered so much, she deserved it.
"And you?" A question surfaced to her heart. She had suffered enough and probably more than her sister, it was her marriage to be saved which landed her in Arnav Singh Raizada's arm and then into his life and after that there were only hurts and betrayel, so did she deserve as grand or much grandeur than her sister? Did she deserve the elder brother? The greater luxuries?
Khushi shook her head, there was no way she would be living a grander life than her sister, what if Arnav was much more responsible or had a greater share to the fame of the AR, Akaash was far more soft hearted and a genial person and that was something Khushi valued above money.
But wait a minute!
Did she just imagine herself as the wife of Arnav Singh Raizada?

"Payal are you sure you'll be handle Khushi? She was pretty solemn last night?" Akaash asked as he parked the car and Payal laughed.
"I may be the only person in billions who knows how to unctuously pacify my drama queen. Only a glimpse of my face will make all her worries jump out of the window."
Just then Akaash's cell rang.
"Bhai?" He said as he read the caller ID. Why was Arnav calling him now?
"Yes Bhai is everything okay?" Akaash asked the moment his picked the call.
"Yeah Akaash, you forgot your laptop, so I brought it here."
Akaash laughed. His bhai was incorrigible.
"Bhai I could've picked it up from house" Akaash said as they were being greeted by Khushi who's face fell the moment he said bhai which he did notice.
"Yes but Akaash... You must've wasted your time then."
"Acha bhai, I'll come and take it from you"
"Nahi Babua" Buaji said, she had arrived out of nowhere.
"Khushi will get the laptop from Arnav babua. You come inside"
"JI?" Khushi literally bellowed.
"Humein behra karo gi kia Sanka Devi?"
"Bua ji..wo"
"Nahi Buaji. I need to talk to him aswell." Akaash excused himself and Khushi sighed, her face beginning to regain its lost color
Meanwhile Akaash and Payal didn't face to notice the Khushi's sudden mood life. Payal viewed her dejected sister now sighing of relief while Akaash made a mental note to inform Di that her plan was nowhere even near to its completion.

There were some people from the neighborhood down in the lounge to greet PayAsh and Khushi decided to retire to her room. For the first time in her life, she was not in the mood to enjoy the festivities going down there. She had never felt so bad, though she had gone through enough but this time just a "Get out" had made her so gloomy, she didn't even feel like smiling. Even her sister's face didn't bring out the chirpy side of her. It was as if world has lost its charm and Khushi knew exactly why everything looked so dull.
She was Khushi Kumari Gupta; the lady who believed in love unconditionally and now when she herself was in love, it was repugnant to feel it. It was if she was going through some kind of Stockholm syndrome where she was being attached to the person who had abducted her heart and was treating it as a marionette as per his wish; He loves flirting with her and because of her erratic heart she is never able to stand up to him much to her dislike.
Her train of thoughts was interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Khushi?"
"Ajao jiji" Khushi replied and Payal entered the room. She was hundred and ten percent sure that her sister was upset because of him and this time he had crossed all sorts of limit.
"I think I need to keep a firm eye on my Jeth" Payal made a mental note.
"What's happening over here?" Payal asked as she climbed the bed and supported her neck on her elbow, facing Khushi
"Nothing just a little bit of mourning" Khushi thought but smiled and laid just like her sister was.
"You tell... how are you?"
"How do I look?"
"Umm... glowing" Khushi winked and earned a slap on her forearm
"Battameez"
Payal took a deep breath and sat up. It was now or never. She had to do this.
"Umm Khushi"
"Haan jiji?" Khushi asked
"Now that I am married, it's your turn next"
Khushi sat up straight and gulped. Where did her marriage come from?
"So?" Khushi asked, bracing herself for the answer.
"I was wondering... it would be wonderful... if..."
"I marry your jeth ji?"
"How did you know that?" Payal asked being shocked beyond senses. Had they both already discussed their marriage or Arnav had eavesdropped their conversation last night?
"Jiji, I know you since last fifteen years, I know what you are about to say. Plus you had always wanted you and me to remain together forever.
"So what do you think?"
"I think it's the most farcical idea in the history of ideas you have ever thought of" Khushi said, faking a grin and got off the bed.
"But why? You and Arnav look so good together"
Khushi froze in her track; her heart had begun to go Dhak Dhak Dhak!
"We don't go well together"
"Didn't seem like during Sangeet"
Snap! What had jiji reminded her of? Her heart was going berserk. She however, took a deep breath, someday or the another her reply would be told to Arnav so she had put something very defensive and solid so that he learns that he could be refuse too.
Khushi turned, folding her hands across her chest.
"You think so? Sangeet was the last time we got well together, after that, he killed me by saying that he was the reason behind me victory" Khushi replied, even though the events of the last few days played in her mind. When he found she was alive, accepting he got her the bangles, helping her serve the guests and then who can forget the wedding?
"But Kh"
"Jiji I have no intention of being your Jethani what-so-ever"
"So do you want to become my Devrani?" Payal as she stood up imitated Khushi's pose.
"What?"
"NK bhai is there"
"Oho jiji.. Arnav ji se Arnav and NK bhai remains NK bhai... someone's being a little too close to her jeth.." Khushi nudged her sister and then abruptly stopped.
Did he ask Payal to ask her?
Khushi shook her head. This can't be possible or if jiji won't ask about Nanhe ji"
"Shut up and reply"
"Jiji, Nanhe ji is a like a very good friend and that's it and to pop your bubble, I am not interested in being a Raizada bahu" Khushi replied and left.
Payal sighed and took out her cell to type a marriage.
"It's a clear refusal from this side, let's see if you can get an acceptance from your side"
And sent the message to Anjali and Akaash.
Brining her sister and jeth ji together, was going to be one hell of an effort, Payal thought.
