I Don't See It

Two fingers massaging the side of her forehead, eyebrows furrowed, Khushi leaned closer to the lap top screen. The tip of her tongue slowly peeked out of her pink lips, which she didn't even notice. She sighed, running her fingers through her hair again. This was making her extremely frustrated. Something about this seemed so familiar. Widening her eyes, she moved her face closer, hoping she could memorize, what was in front of her, probably then she would get the answer. Unfortunately, her concentration was cut short, because right at that moment, her wonderful husband decided to enter the room, dressed in his usual waist coat attire.

His forehead was creased as always, focused on some file, which Khushi hardly ever paid attention to. All these files and documents were too boring for Khushi to comprehend. How were they soul mates? She did not understand. Once she dies, she will definitely ask Devi Maiyya for an answer. Suddenly her thought process froze for a second. She blinked a couple of times, watching her husband. Her eyes flickered to the lap top screen, then back to him. 'Oh my god!,' she exclaimed out loud, as it finally dawned on her.

Arnav's attention broke away from the file. 'Khushi? What? What happened?', he asked, worry laced in his tone. Mouth gaping, she stared at him for a minute. He frowned again. 'What?', he asked, confused and a bit irritated.

'You...'

'What!', he snapped this time. She rolled her eyes. He was stressed again, which wasn't new. 'Come here,' she demanded. 'Then you can know what.' Setting the file on the bed side stool, he sat next to her on the bed. 'What?', he asked again, calmly. She pointed at the screen, biting her lips to prevent herself from laughing. Eye brows still furrowed, he looked.

There was nothing but a picture of cat- a grumpy looking cat. He did the usual eyebrow arch, he usually would do when he found something confused, weird, or not interesting. 'It's a picture of a cat, Khushi? What does this have to do with anything.' She shook her head. 'Look at it properly. Doesn't this cat seem... familiar?'

'Khushi... Are you feeling okay?', he asked, cautiously. 'Oh god, Arnavji! CAN'T YOU SEE WHAT I AM SEEING?', Khushi, threw her hands in the air, annoyed with her dense husband. 'Um... no?', he said questionably. Genuinely, he seemed confused about the entire picture. Khushi sighed. Nothing new there either. She took the lap top, and placed it on her lap. 'Arnavji, this cat looks like you,' she simply stated with a shrug.

What set Khushi off to a laughing spree would definitely be his reaction. He sprung up from the bed, an offended expression of horror on his face. 'WHAT. I LOOK LIKE A CAT? Khushi, you are seriously losing it this time!'

Her stomach ached with laughter. 'Arnavji! Look at his frown though. He looks exactly like you! Don't even try to deny this.'

'No I do not!'

'Yes, you do!'

'No, I do not, Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Razaida!'

'Yes you do, Arnav Singh Gupta Razaida!'

'Since when did you start putting Gupta in my name?!'

'Since the time I decided that it's not fair how your name isn't long.'

Arnav sighed and sat back on the bed. 'I do not see it. I don't look like that cat. Bas.' She smiled, seeing his lips turning in to a pout. Moving closer, she wrapped her arms around him, laying her head against his chest. 'It's okay, Arnavji because you're my cat.'

'Khushi!', he exclaimed, pushing her away, which gained another laugh from her. 'Come on, admit it though. He does look like you when you frown.'

'No and that's final. Now I am going to finish off some work like an actual adult.' He got up, grabbing the files once again, as he head out to the pool side.

'Fine, ' Khushi raised her voice. 'But it's all your fault that our future children will look like cats!'

'Shut up!'

Grinning, she sat back on the bed, an idea popping in to her head. Quietly, manically laughing, Khushi got to work. This was going to be fun...

Three days later, after their argument about the cat, Arnav came home later after a long night at work. As usual he entered the room, placing his keys on the side table, removing his tie, and waist coat. The bed was empty since Khushi was down stairs in the kitchen, warming up his food.

Quickly grabbing himself a towel, Arnav went to the bathroom for a shower. Forty five minutes later, he walked out casually, wiping his hair off. The tiredness beginning to take over, Arnav decided to take a seat on the recliner. And that's when he saw it- a professionally framed picture of Arnav and the grumpy cat, side by side.

'WHAT THE. KHUSHI KUMARI GUPTA SINGH RAZAIDA!!!'

****

Hearing his roar from upstairs, Khushi giggled with glee. 'And there it is,' she mumbled, preparing herself to face, the wrath of her child, monster husband.

This story idea sparked to me, when my best friend Nosh, commented on this picture, saying, 'he needs to own this cat'

Nosh had an amazing banner for this OS, but unfortunately IF is being a lil bitch. I wish I could show you guys.
