FLASHBACK 3

The day of the accident

In the morning Arnav had been making sure that if and when his plan needed to be executed everything was in place.

NK was already helping him out so he was ready.

Arnav had gone and ordered the same model and make car as the car that was at home which he had got very quickly after all he was Arnav Singh Raizada and no one had the courage to say no to him. The keys and car were with the PI team who were never far from the house.

He had gone to finally see his lawyer in secret and get his will re-drafted to include Khushi's name. He had made sure Mr Roy submitted the will quickly but he asked that once drafted his will was sent to his office not his home.

When Akash and he were heading downstairs and Khushi had approached him about Anjali Arnav knew that today was the day his plan had to work.

After dealing with his sister he got onto the phone to the PI team to tell them the plan was going ahead.

NK had been keeping an eye on Shyam so when Shyam had phoned Harish NK knew that today was the day Arnav's plan was going to happen.

Outside Harish had fiddled with the brakes once he had been called by Shyam. When he was done he heard a crash just outside the premises.

Two cars had collided outside and the drivers had come out shouted and screaming at each other before getting into a fight. Harish who could hear from where he was but couldn't see anything went to check out the commotion. As he went outside people moved to see what was going on.

What Harish didn't know was everyone was paid to do all this.

More and more people were coming to see what was going on blocking Harish's view from the front entrance.

The PI team slowly and quietly bought the one car in and took the other car while inside Arnav who had insisted on eating before going to delay time for the PI team to do their job.

He was called the moment it was done so Anjali and he could move out. What Harish also didn't know was Arnav had a spare set of keys for the car if he needed them and he had made sure that under the passenger seat was a blanket for his Di. In the condition she was he knew he would need it.

The commotion outside was soon stopped as the police had arrived, again people who had been paid to carry all this out.

Harish came back after a bit to the car not knowing what had happened.

As soon as Arnav and Anjali had sat in the back of the car Harish drove off.

The PI team began to follow Arnav.

As Harish approached the place where he had been told to kill them he placed a long stick to keep on the accelerator against the seat, opened his car door and jumped out thinking that there was no way the car could be stopped. He knew that even if Arnav would have got onto the front seat the brakes were not working. He smiled thinking his boss is going to be very happy with this news.

Arnav and Anjali saw this happen making Anjali panic.

"Chote what just happened? Where has Harish gone? There is no driver. Chote we are going to be killed" Anjali said panicking. Arnav turned to his sister, "Di calm down I will take care of it" he said calmly as he felt under the passenger seat for the blanket. Once he pulled the blanket out and placed it quickly on his sister, he moved himself onto the front seat. He removed the stick so he could use his feet. He bought the car slowly to a stop but out of sight of Harish.

The PI team who had been following saw where Harish had got off, stopped the car and quickly surrounded Harish. Harish had to put his hands up as he saw the men with guns around him.

The PI team got in touch with Arnav who at that moment had gotten out of the car to make sure Anjali was ok who was looking at him in confusion.

Arnav took the call, listened to what they said, got back into the car, turned it around and went back to where they came from.

Anjali was busy asking what was going on but Arnav wouldn't answer.

Once he got to the PI team, he got out of the car and headed towards Harish. Harish stood there in utter shock seeing Arnav and Anjali alive and well.

Arnav walked up to Harish, "where's your phone?" he asked in a threating tone. Harish saw the anger on Arnav's face making him take his phone out. "Phone up Shyam now and tell him that the job is done and make sure he doesn't hear you panicking. If you do you have no idea what I will do to you" Arnav threatened.

Harish had no choice but to do what he was told.

Once that was done Arnav grabbed his collar and was about to hit him when the police arrived as the PI team had informed them. Police put him at the back of the car while they began talking to Arnav. "Mr Raizada thank you for informing us about all this" the inspector began "is there anything else we need to do?" "Yes inspector, I need you to first go to Raizada house and inform my family that there has been an accident involving myself and my sister" Arnav said facing the inspector. "But Mr Raizada you both are alive, then why would I need to do that?" the inspector asked confused. Anjali had made her way slowly towards Arnav and also looked at him in confusion when he said that. "But Chote why lie to everyone at home?" Anjali asked still confused. Arnav looked at his sister and knew if he said anything she would never believe him he needed her to see what Shyam does with her own eyes. "Di please trust me, I know what I am doing" Arnav said looking at his sister. Looking at Arnav Anjali knew that Arnav wouldn't do say something like this unless he had a reason.

Arnav looked back at the inspector and said, "Inspector please go and inform my family but I need you to do this in a few hours. I will also inform my lawyer to go to my house so that my will has been read in front of the whole family. I will just inform my lawyer of this to go to my house in a couple of hours" Arnav said as he took his phone out and spoke to his lawyer. "Inspector" Arnav called before he called his lawyer, "I will be coming to the police station in a while to give my statement." The inspector nodded and headed off. Arnav informed his lawyer about what he had to do before he turned to look at his di.

"Di let's go, I need to get our family doctor to check you out before we go to the police station" Arnav said as he helped Anjali towards the car. "But Chote what is going on?" Anjali asked. "Di please trust me I will tell you soon. Di give me your phone" Arnav asked. Anjali handed him her phone Arnav. Arnav turned both phones off making Anjali even more confused but she didn't ask again. She knew her brother will tell her when the time is right.

Arnav first went to their family doctor where Anjali had been checked over. The doctor had warned Arnav that Anjali needs to go home and rest. Anymore excitement for her would mean she could go into early labour. Arnav became worried so after going to the police station he wanted to take Anjali home but even he had no idea what was going to happen.

As soon as the family had been informed, the lawyer had come over read the will and Shyam had done what he had done NK who had another number for Arnav contacted that number.

Arnav who was at the police station at that time finishing his statement took the call and was shocked that Shyam was heading in a car with Khushi alone. He knew in that instant it meant trouble. He told NK to get the rest of the family and follow Shyam wherever he goes.

Arnav put his phone done and went back to the inspector and told him what was going on. As Anjali had been asked to stay in the car he could tell the inspector everything.

Due to the fact that some of the PI team was still near Raizada mansion so they followed Shyam, informed Arnav who not only told the inspector but also informed NK about their whereabouts.

NK had also been asked what was going on by the family but he didn't say a word.

Arnav and Anjali had got to the temple just in time to stop Shyam and the rest of the Raizada family got there to see the whole scene.

END OF FLASHBACKS

The whole family who were still in Khushi's room couldn't say anything. No one knew what to say let alone what to think.

Nani sat down on the bench feeling exhausted, tired and was crying for the fate of her granddaughter, "now how are we going to handle Anjali?" she asked out loud.

Payal went and sat next to nani and Manorama sat on the other side of her mother-in-law. "Dadiji we will take care of Di" Payal assured. "You are saying to take care of Anjali when you and your whole family knew the truth" mami spat out. "Manorama please they kept quiet for Anjali bitiya's. This is no time to think about that. We need to think about Anjali and how we are going to handle her" nani said trying to stay strong but she knew she was breaking apart.

The doctor came into Khushi's room look her over. "Please can everyone go outside I need to look at my patient" the doctor said. Everyone except Arnav started making their way out. "Ummm...please I need to examine the patient so can you also go outside" the doctor said looking at Arnav. Arnav just glared at the doctor, "I am not leaving my wife alone" he said in a threating tone making the doctor flinch. The doctor turned around and examined to see if Khushi was alright.

Once Khushi had been checked over the doctor left saying that Khushi was ok to go home.

Outside another doctor had gone to inform the Raizada family that due to some complications they needed to perform an operation on Anjali and they needed someone to sign the papers.

Everyone looked at each other when Arnav and Khushi came out of the room. Arnav looked towards his family, "What's wrong?" "Bhai, Di..." Akash began but couldn't say anything more. "What's happened to di?" Arnav panicked. "Mr Raizada your sister needs an operation now as her life is hanging in the balance. Arnav turned to the doctor and grabbed his coat, "You better save her doctor or else I will make god damn sure that you never work anywhere again" Arnav threatened making everyone shocked. Akash and NK went towards Arnav. "Bhai please stop" Akash pleaded. "Yes nannav let the doctor do his job" NK also added.

Khushi walked up to Arnav placed her hand on his shoulder, "Arnavji Di ko kuch nahi hoga (Arnavji nothing will happen to Di)." Feeling Khushi beside him Arnav slowly pulled his hands of the doctor allowing the doctor to move away.

Arnav didn't know what to do and ended up walking off not caring about calling after him.

Khushi followed him.

Arnav went to the area where there was ganesh's statue (the same place where Arnav and Khushi were talking after Anjali was taken into hospital due to her miscarriage).

Arnav went and sat down on the sofa. His hands towards his side, clenching the bench tight, his mind not working thinking about his Di, wondering if his Di will be alright or not and the worry of losing his Di was something he didn't want to think about.

Khushi found Arnav sitting down on the sofa and went and sat right next to him.

Arnav turned to look at her with tears glistening in his eyes making Khushi worry. She nodded a no at him while cupping his face in her hands. Arnav suddenly hugged her close trying hard not to feel the pain he was feeling. Khushi also hugged him back trying to take his pain away but she knew she may not be able to.

"Khushi nothing is going to happen to di is it?" Arnav asked scared that he was going to lose the person that he considered more like his mum. Khushi pulled away from the hug to look into Arnav's eyes. Seeing him in pain was breaking her heart as well. She cupped his face before speaking, "Hamara vishwas kijiye Arnavji Di ko kuch nahi hoga. Hume bharosa hai Devi maiyya ke upar unhe kuch nahi hoga (Please believe me Arnavji nothing will happen to Di. I have full faith in Devi maiyya nothing will happen to her). Arnav may not believe in god but he certainly had faith in the girl sitting right next to him.

Khushi saw the ganesh statue, stood up and went to pray for Di's life. She saw a diya in front of the statue unlit so she found some matches and lit the diya for Anjali. A gust of wind came and tried to blow out the candle but both Khushi and Arnav placed one hand in front of the diya so it doesn't blow out.

After the diya settled Arnav started thinking about his past and how he had promised his Di he would make everything right but here he was and everything was wrong.

Shyam had done the ultimate betrayal as betrayal which he knew all too well about. The past was repeating itself but this time with his sister being in the middle of it all.

He felt like a failure. He had failed his Di. The anger and rage he was feeling towards Shyam became evident in his stance, his gestures and his facial expressions.

Khushi after a while turned to look at Arnav and saw he was getting angry. She could tell something was bothering him. She placed her hand on his shoulder making him turn towards her before he engulfed her into a hug as the tears threatened to come again.

Arnav slightly lifted his head looking at the wall behind Khushi to see a calendar and very clearly he looked at the date.

14^th august 2012

It suddenly dawned on him that today six months ago he had forcefully married Khushi. He had threatened to throw her out after six months but he knew in this moment that he could never do that.

He pulled away from the hug looking down Khushi who was surprised at the way Arnav pulled away.

He again looked back at the calendar than at Khushi.

He was in emotional turmoil today, his sister was having in the operation theatre having an emergency caesarean and here he has just realised today was the end of his contract marriage. The day he was supposed to leave Khushi forever but even the thought of thi scared him. He knew in that moment he couldn't live with her.

Arnav looked down at Khushi's hands. He placed his hands over hers making her look down before looking up towards him. She saw him looking directly at her very upset and serious. He pulled her hands towards him "I'm sorry Khushi, I'm so sorry" Arnav began. Khushi looked up at Arnav confused. "Arnavji aap mafi kyu maange rahe hai (Arnavji why are you apologising)" Khushi asked still very confused. "Khushi please don't leave me" Arnav said as he became more emotional. Khushi suddenly got upset feeling Arnav's pain, "Main aapko kyo chodke jaaungi? (Why would I leave you?)" Khushi asked very upset.

Arnav looked down at her before looking back at the calendar again seeing the date before looking back at Khushi.

He didn't know what to say as in that moment he felt his whole life was going out of control something he never wanted to feel again but here he was with his sister's life hanging in the balance and Khushi who may just leave him.

Without thinking Arnav began, "I'm so sorry Khushi that I forced you to marry me by threatening to stop your sister's wedding. I know I was at fault when I did that and even after our marriage the way I treated you I'm also sorry for that but please Khushi don't leave me, ever" as Arnav bought Khushi into a tight hug as tears began to flow from his eyes.

Khushi hugged him back as it dawned on her what Arnav was on about, "hum nahi jayenge Arnavji. Hum aapko chhod ke nahi jayenge (I won't go Arnavji. I won't leave you and go) Khushi repeated as she hugged Arnav tight but neither of them saw that someone had overheard their conversation.
