CHAPTER 12: Dostiwala Love

Arnav and Khushi's FRIENDSHIP bloomed beautifully with passing time of a month. They started sharing their lunch and started having coffee and tea together. Khushi made him have her tea while he made her have his black coffee.

Arnav used to laugh at odd times even today thinking of the face she made when she tasted the black coffee.

Once they both had an argument on their choices and tastes. Khushi mocked him for his inflexibility in his choices while he pulled her legs for not having known his taste when she is a foodie. So both challenged to taste other's choice.

Arnav took a sip of her sweet tea from her cup which tasted the sweet of whole world. He loved having it from her cup. While Khushi made a disgusting pouting face which for Arnav looked like a baby pouting as she took a sip of his black coffee.

Khushi: Yak Arnavji!! How do you drink this?Its worse than Karela. It tastes like hot water with karela essence and coffee flavor. Eeks!!!

This used to tickle him to laugh. He had the sketches she made of him in anger. When he asked her about it, he was awarded with silence. He remembered how scandalized her face was when he showed her the sketches.

Khushi: Arnav ji? You are having these?

Arnav: Never anyone dared to do such things with me before. But when you did I couldn't help. So took them with me. But do I look like a monkey, king kong, Raakshas and a dragon?

Khushi: What to do? I don't have my jalebis to let my anger out. So to vent my frustration I did this. I was so angry that time.

Arnav: You and your jalebis. Looks like food and you are unbleivably inseparable. But tell me this. How come you drew me so perfectly without even missing my eyes and their glint?

Khushi hung her head. He knew this was forbidden, FOR NOW.

Today Arnav was a bit early and the reason for his Berukhi was not here still. She was busy somewhere else.

Gupta House:

Khushi was waiting in dining table with a long face. She was upset. But people around her were so busy to notice her mood. She couldn't take it anymore. So she started her fight. And as usual her Bali ka Bakra was her brother who was busy eating his paranthe as he was getting late for his MBA classes.

Khushi: Oye Ashu. Eat slowly. Paranthe se kis janam ka badla le rahe jo ese kha rahe hain usse?

Why are u eating as if u are seeking vengeance?

Ashwin(stuffing the food): Jiji, don't disturb when I am eating. Better stay away. I am damn hungry.

Khushi: Tell me when you are not hungry.

Ashwin: I am hungry like every human. But you are abnormally hungry.

Khushi: You are dead.

Saying she took a serving spoon and aimed at him. He ran from dining table with his plate.

Khushi: Idiot. Now also u are running with the plate. besharam.

Ashwin: This is what I got. Amma dint allow me to touch the jalebi's she is making. Let me enjoy what I got.

There landed a blow on his back. But it was Garima instead of Khushi.

Ashwin: Amma?

Khushi: Jalebi?

Sasi: Duffer Sanak dev. You don't know to keep a secret.

Khushi: Secret?

Garima: Kya Karen is larke ke saath. Inke pet me jitna paranthe chup jata, utna baaten nahi chupta.

He only knows to hide food. Not secret and surprises.

Khushi: No more hiding. What is going on?

Sasi brought the plate of jalebi and another plate of gol gappe.

All: HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANKA DEVI.

Yes it is Khushi's birthday. Khushi was at the peak of her happiness. She had jalebis gol gappe and her favorite aloo puri. Sasi and garima gave her a packet of dress.

Garima: Titaliya. Wear this today.

Khushi opened it and saw the saree. It was a beautiful dark red chiffon plain saree with green designer border. She loved it insantly that she pounced on Garima and kissed her soundly.

Khushi: Loved it Amma. Thank you Amma Bauji. Love you.

Saying she ran into her room to change. She came out and took their blessings and ran out as she was getting late for office.

Garima: Titaliya, Don't forget to visit temple once.

Khushi: Ji amma. As usual I will.

Here in AR, Lavanya came with Akash into Arnav's cabin.

Akash: Hey bhai.

La: Bhai.

Arnav: Akash, Lavanya? What are you doing here?

La: Wanted to surprise Khushi. So came. And also wanted to see you as its been ages Bhai.

Akash: So how are you? Vese Khushi is not yet here right?

Arnav was all confused. He could not understand anything.

Arnav: surprise? Khushi? What are you both talking about?

La: Bhai, its Khushi's birthday.

Arnav: What the? And she dint tell a word about it.

Akash: She wont. Because she tends to forget it mostly and remembers only on the day morning.

Arnav: Ajeeb hai yeh larki.

She is weird.

La: That is Khushi. You know her mother calls her Sanka Devi. Apt name.

Arnav smiled. He has seen all her sanak in this month so he knew how perfect the name was for her.

Arnav: So what plans you have?

La: She must have already had her dose of jalebi and gol gappe. So we have to plan something else. Akash said cake. But she likes Desi food. Bhai do you have any idea.

Akash: Lavanya, you are asking Bhai? How would he know?

Arnav: Kaju Katli and Gajar ka halwa with Pav baji.

La and Akash gaped at Arnav who came out with such dishes. According to them, Arnav don't even know names of Indian food.

Akash and La: Bhai?

Arnav: What? What are you looking at? Go and get these and arrange everything in our recess shop down.

They rushed out to get the dishes while Arnav looked out the window waiting for his PRINCESS. Yes Arnav dint know why, but he loved to address and think her as his princess.

Khushi went to the temple near AR. It was routine every year. Then she went to office. As soon as she entered she saw a very silent office. She wondered if she came on holiday. But no, it was a Wednesday. Then she went inside her cabin to see if Arnav was there. Alas!! Workaholic Arnav was too missing. She kept her things in her cabin and went to the recess shop to get a tea for her. But she was welcomed by darkness.

As she stepped inside, the lights went on and she heard a loud,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

For a minute she was stunned as she never discussed her birthday with anyone except HP and Lavanya. Later Akash also knew. But this was something new. La hugged her and gave the gift while Akash stood there smiling at his friend. HP blessed her for happy life. But all the while Khushi's eyes were searching only one person who was missing here. La took her to the middle table. Khushi was surprised to see Kaju katli, Gajar ka halwa and Pav baji there. She took a piece of Kaju Katli and turned around only to bump on him. Arnav, her now friend and her all time Prince. Now she understood the reason of her favorite Chat being there. She smiled as Arnav took the piece and smiled at her. His eyes drank her beauty clad in Red saree which was his favorite color. As he saw, a thin shade of the color spread on her cheeks too much to his satisfaction.

Arnav(In Husky voice): Happy birthday Princess. Hope you like surprises.

Meenu: Haye.. Koi hamein bhi ese wish kiya kijiye...

Khushi: Shukriya. But you dint have t..

Before she could complete, Arnav stuffed a spoon full of halwa in her mouth.

Arnav(smirking): No negative words allowed today.

They had a gala time. After sometime, all dispersed leaving Arnav Khushi La and Akash. They were talking anything and everything when the topic came to their love.

Khushi: How come you chose this shy man as the one for you while you were a tomboy?

Lavanya: you will know when you meet the one for you. Your Soul mate. With just one look, you will know.

Arnav was looking at Khushi listening to all this, making Khushi uncomfortably comfortable. The talk dint go much deep. Soon, La and Akash left as they had their own business to look after and Khushi rushed to her cabin to do her job. Only one soul was lost in someother world for the whole day. At the end of the day, when Khushi came to report to him, his eyes never left her. As she was leaving he asked suddenly.

Arnav: Did you also feel the same way?

Meenu: ab aya camelwa Mountainswa ke neeche 😆

Khushi: Huh!!!???

Arnav: Like La said, with one look, you will know your soul mate. That day, your look, your eyes!!! Did you feel like what she said? Was it why you were looking at me like that?

This direct approach left Khushi stunned without any answer. What can she say?

Meenu: ki kehna hai? sach hi toh bolna hai... Bol de!!
