PART 9

As soon as Sanyukta knocked the door, she was welcomed with thousands of questions. She patiently explained everything to her parents. Her father scolded her for not inviting Professor Vardaan at home. Looking at her fractured hand, her mother started crying. She consoled her mother. Her mother insisted that she stays at home for 2 weeks. Sanyukta agreed. She had dinner and went to her room to sleep. Suddenly, she remembered Kaustuki. She dialled her number from the landline phone. Kaustuki apologized for not coming to meet her and explained her the reason. Sanyukta accepted her apology.

At home, Sanyukta's mouth used to be always stuffed with something or the other every two hours. It had become a routine for her father to feed her cereals, milk, fruits and dry fruits and her mother used to feed her lunch and dinner. In the evenings, the entire family used to go for an outing or a long drive, where she used to indulge in junk food. I was a like a mini vacation for Sanyukta. After spending two weeks, she finally bid good bye to her family. Her father came to drop her at FITE. Her face saddened as they reached her campus. She hugged her father. Vardaan saw her walking to the campus and immediately changed his direction of walking. He wanted to avoid her at all costs.

She went to her dorm and hugged Kaustuki. Kaustuki asked her, "How and when did she go to Delhi?" Sanyukta said that Vardaan Sir dropped her. Kaustuki was surprised hearing this. Her jaw dropped. Kaustuki said, "I want each and every small detail." After making up for the gossips Sanyukta missed when she was at home, she finally went to sleep. She knew that the semester exams were approaching and she needs to do well in it, esp. in Financial Management, for the reasons known best to her.

Next day, she went to the college. She saw Professor Vardaan coming, she merrily smiled and said, "Good Morning Sir." Vardaan just walked ignoring her. She was left perplexed. "Ab maine kya kiya?", she thought. She proceeded to her classroom. Everybody queried about her health. And they also informed her that how Vardaan Sir saved her. Her friends were surprised as to how nobody could guess what was Sammy's motive. Vardaan entered the class. Sanyukta was feeling as fresh as a daisy. He started with the teaching session.

Vardaan: "So class where were we last class?"

Everybody hurriedly opened up their books and turned their pages left and right.

Vardaan: "Close your books everybody. Nobody revised what I have in the last class? Itni hi hai aap logo ki memory? I was thinking of taking a surprise test today. My god!! Miss Agarwal, tell me where were we last class?"

Sanyukta: (Hesistantly)"Sir, I just came back yesterday. I did not attend last 3 to 4 lectures."

She was surprised as to why did Vardaan Sir asked her. He very well knew that she was at home.

Vardaan: "So? So what Miss Agarwal? It's not my problem. My concern is when students come for my lecture, I want them to be crystal clear with all the concepts that I've taught so far. You had enough time to cope up. You could have taken your roommate's help, you could have used the library, you could have used the internet. But no, you were interested in doing all the non-productive tasks."

Sanyukta just could'nt comprehend this man. Just when she had started thinking, that she has now understood Vardaan Sir and his attitude, this man was throwing at her such questions.

Sanyukta: "I am sorry Sir. Next time I'll be up to date with everything what you've taught."

Vardaan: "Please, get out Miss Agarwal. I had already said way before that I don't like the word sorry. Next time, don't enter my class without studying anything."

Sanyukta was stunned and shaken. But, she did not argue. She simply collected her belongings and walked out of the class with tears glistening in her eyes.

She went to the library and thought, "What has happened to this man? In fact, who is he? Is he Professor Vardaan? The same professor with whom I had travelled to Delhi? How many faces has he got?"

Here Vardaan mentally pat his back. His only two best friends again popped up.

Demon: Whoa...woww...what was that? I didn't know you had that in you. That was awesome dude. Mission-avoid-Sanyukta successful!!

Angel: "Yaa...what the hell was that. Do you have any idea how illogical you sounded and how insane you looked. Look at the class. They are doubting your common sense. "

Demon: "So what...who cares? At least Sanyukta is gone."

Angel: "Yaa...she looked so sad. She looked angry as well. I could even see her tears. Who the hell have you become?"

Demon: "Shut up with your emotional blackmailing."

Vardaan was now confused with his insides fighting with each other. He started with the lecture, but there was something missing..or somebody missing.

Sanyukta spent the next two days in the library, with each and every book of Financial Management on her table. Also, she was very serious about the exams. She wanted to do well in the exams. The next lecture for Financial Management arrived. Sanyukta was prepared as if she's going for a war.

She entered the class and sat next to Jignesh. Vardaan entered the in the class and started with the lecture.

Vardaan: "So we were studying ratios last time. The next important ratio is the price to earnings ratio. What this means can be guessed by the name itself. Can anybody tell me?"

Sanyukta happily raised her hand. She had studied everything about ratios. She was the only one in the class to raise her hand. But again Prof Vardaan ignored her and proceeded to explain it himself. In the entire lecture, whenever Vardaan asked any question to the class, Sanyukta's hand always used to be raised. But, as usual he ignored her. Sanyukta was disappointed and more than disappointed, she was confused and unhappy. She totally had no clue as to why was he doing that. She thought that she had enough. "What does this man think of himself? Itna attitude? Kis liye? Maine kiya kya hai? Bas bohot ho gaya. Ab se main bhi inse baat nahi karungi. Par inke subject mein highest marks toh mere hi aaenge. Phir dekhti hu mujhe kaise congratulate nahi karte. Par tak Professor-Vardaan-ignore mode ON."

For the next days, Professor Vardaan could clearly observe that even Sanyukta was ignoring him. He could see that whenever Sanyukta used to stand with her group or alone, everybody used to wish him except Sanyukta.

The semester exams arrived. Sanyukta was never this prepared for anything in her life. The first paper was Financial Management. She could solve the entire 100 marks paper. All the other subject paper were also good. She finally felt that she could cope with all the engineers and commerce graduates in her class. It was time for vacation. She finished her packing and bid Kaustuki good bye and headed home. For a second, she thought that she should bid good bye to Vardaan Sir. But she shrugged herself and cancelled the idea.
