Arnav's phone rang.
The display read 'Khushi'.
"O ho! Who is calling you at breakfast time?", NK teased.
He snatched the phone before Arnav could take it. "Di, a Khushi is calling Nannav! Do you know a Khushi?", he asked, laughing.
Anjali pretended to think. "I can't remember having met a Khushi!"
"I know who Khussi ijj!", Mami declared. "Our dhobi's wife!"
"Or is it Mrs. Mishra's bahuriyya?", Nani asked, smiling.
"Chotey, do you know a Khushi?", Anjali asked, a smile on her face.
All laughed.
A slow smile spread over Arnav's face. He snatched the phone from NK, and left the table.
"Ramanchi! Ramanchi! That is Ramanchi, Nannav, as Khushiji says! Nannav, you are the badmash of Ramanchi!", NK declared.
Akash sighed. "Badshah, NK Bhai, not Badmash!"
"Both are the same.", NK declared. "Both are Bad."
"Khushi...", Arnav drawled into the phone. "Kya hua? Missing me?" His smirk was to die for.
"Arnavji, Gaurav had an accident last evening. He is in the hospital after surgery. Anamikaji..."
Arnav could hear the tears in her voice. He paled.
"Which hospital?", he asked, listening to her as he strode back to the table to take the coat he had hooked to the back of his chair.
"I will get there in a few minutes, Khushi. We can go to the hospital together.", Arnav said, cutting the call.
"Kya hua, Chotey?", Anjali asked, her face pale. "Why are you taking Khushiji to the hospital?"
"Her babuji is alright, isn't he?", Nani asked. Payal raised her pale face to her Jetji.
"Anamika's son, Gaurav had an accident yesterday. We are going to visit them...", Arnav said.
Nani, Anjali, Mami, & Payal stood up, abandoning their repast.
"We are coming with you, Chotey.", Nani declared.
Arnav stared at the women. "You know her?"
"We met at Khushiji's house.", Anjali explained. "Anamikaji has only her son. If something happens to him..." Her voice filled with tears.
"Arnav Bitwaa, let ujj go phast to the hospital.", Mami suggested.
Arnav and Akash drove the ladies to Khushi's house to find that Buaji too was ready to accompany them to the hospital. She had a big food bag with her.
"Poor Anamika Bitiyaa! She won't have eaten anything, worrying all night about her son, Nandkisore!", Buaji said, handing over the bag to Arnav before getting into the car.
Nani nodded. Mami & Anjali smiled at her thoughtfulness.
Anamika & Ganesh looked up to see a veritable army of people standing next to them.
Khushi strode up to Anamika and hugged her tight.
Anamika smiled as she returned the hug.
"How is Gaurav?", she asked, her voice still tear-filled.
"Much better. Only one arm & one leg are broken. There is no head injury or internal damage.", Anamika smiled as she said. "He had his surgery last night. We met him in the morning. He is much better."
"Nandkisore ki jai ho!", Buaji said.
Nani & Anjali caught hold of Anamika's hands.
"Bitiyaa, why didn't you call us last night? We would have come to the hospital and stayed with you? You sat here all alone, worrying?", Nani asked.
Anamika smiled. "Ganesh was with me."
She introduced Ganesh to the ladies. "This is Ganesh, my friend. Gaurav loves him very much."
She introduced the ladies to Ganesh. "This is ASR's Nani, his Mami, & his sister, Anjali."
Ganesh folded his hands in a namaste. The ladies smiled at him, approving of him at first glance.
"This is Khushi's Buaji.", Anamika said.
Ganesh greeted Buaji.
"Hai Re Nandkisore! I thought Bitiyaa must have been alone all night! Acha he that you were there! Who will be scared with such a tall, Bhim-like friend with her, Nandkisore?", Buaji was all compliments.
ASR hid his smile as Ganesh blushed like a schoolboy.
"Did you have breakfast, Nandkisore?", Buaji asked.
Anamika & Ganesh shook their heads.
Buaji thrust the bag of food at them. "Have it, Nandkisore! Or you two will become ill by the time your son leaves the hospital."
Anamika & Ganesh thanked her, unable to believe that the hall was full of people willing to share and shoulder their responsibilities and worry for them...
Nani said, "Why don't you both have your breakfast and get some sleep, Bitiyaa? We will wait here till you return."
The ladies nodded.
"Haan, Anamikaji. We will look after Gaurav. Please rest for a while.", Khushi said.
"No..", Anamika said. "We will manage..."
"Bhy should you mannijj when we are here? You sleep, we will look after the applewaa of your aijj (eyes).", Mami promised her.
