The sun had just begun to set, casting a soft golden hue over the Vrindavan landscape. The playful chirps of the birds were replaced by the evening stillness, a stillness that seemed to echo the unspoken sorrow in Radha's heart. The air, once filled with the sound of Krishna's flute and the joyous laughter of their divine love, now felt eerily silent. There was a heaviness in the atmosphere, as though the entire universe was holding its breath.

Radha stood at the banks of the Yamuna, looking at the flowing river. Her hands were pressed together in a silent prayer, her eyes reflecting a storm of emotions. Her heart, once fluttering in Krishna's presence, now beat with an unbearable weight.

Radha's Thoughts

"Why must this moment come, Krishna? Why must the light of my life fade into the distant horizon? Was it not for us to be together, in this world and the next?"

A soft breeze ruffled her hair, and her heart wavered between the world of mortal longing and the divine connection she shared with Krishna. Her eyes closed for a moment, and the world around her seemed to blur. In that brief instant, she saw Krishna's face, glowing with divine radiance, a mischievous smile tugging at his lips, his flute held to his mouth.

But that vision was fleeting. As the wind carried away the last whispers of the day, Radha's heart sunk. Krishna was no longer there in Vrindavan, no longer by her side. The time had come for him to leave, to fulfill his divine purpose. The separation was inevitable, yet the ache in her chest felt as though it would consume her.

The sound of footsteps behind her pulled her from her reverie. She turned, and there, standing a little distance away, was her dear friend and confidante, Lalita.

Lalita was the only one who truly understood the depth of Radha’s love for Krishna. She knew the agony that Radha was feeling, for she, too, had witnessed the moments of divine ecstasy that the two lovers had shared.

Lalita: "Radha, your heart is breaking, and yet, you remain as still as the river. Krishna will always be with you, no matter the distance. His love for you is eternal, untouched by time or space."

Radha turned away, her gaze once again drifting toward the river. The words of Lalita, though comforting, seemed distant. How could she find solace in Krishna’s eternal love when the ache of separation was so real, so tangible?

Radha: "Lalita, you say Krishna will always be with me, but how can I endure this? How can I live without him by my side? In his absence, the world seems empty. I cannot feel his presence anymore."

Lalita (softly): "Radha, Krishna's love transcends this world. He is the soul of Vrindavan, and you are his heart. Even if he is not physically with you, his essence remains in every breath you take, in every heartbeat. His flute still plays in your heart, his smile still dances in your soul."

Radha’s eyes filled with unshed tears, and she turned to face her friend. Her voice, usually soft and melodious, now trembled with emotion.

Radha: "But Lalita, my heart is breaking. How can I continue to live in this world where Krishna’s presence is only a memory? I had believed… I had believed that our love would never know distance, never know pain. But now… now I feel lost without him."

Lalita walked closer to her, placing a gentle hand on Radha’s shoulder.

Lalita: "Radha, love like yours and Krishna's is not bound by the world. You are the embodiment of his love. This separation is not an end, but a new beginning. Krishna’s departure will only make your love purer, stronger."

Radha shook her head, her golden tresses shimmering in the fading light. The pain in her heart was too great to be soothed by words. She could not imagine a life without Krishna’s presence, without his laughter, his teasing, his love.

Suddenly, the wind shifted, and Radha felt something - a faint, almost imperceptible presence. She closed her eyes, and in the silence of the moment, she heard it - the sound of Krishna’s flute, carried to her from afar.

Radha (whispering): "Krishna..."

Her body trembled, and her lips parted as she tried to speak, but the words caught in her throat. She could feel his love, his warmth, surrounding her. It was as though he was standing right behind her, his touch grazing her skin, his breath stirring her hair.

She turned, expecting to see him, but there was only emptiness. The realization hit her like a wave crashing onto the shore - Krishna was truly gone, for now. And with him, the world that she had known was slowly fading away.

Radha (choking on her words): "Krishna... how could you leave me? How could you leave me in this world of shadows?"

The night was falling now, and the stars began to twinkle overhead. Radha stood alone at the banks of the Yamuna, her heart heavy with the weight of her longing. She closed her eyes once more, and in the darkness, she felt a warmth in her chest, as though Krishna’s love was still there, still alive in her soul. Yet, the ache of separation could not be denied.

Radha (softly): "I wait for you, Krishna. I will always wait for you. In this lifetime, in the next, and beyond."

The words hung in the air, carried away by the wind, as Radha stood there - waiting for the moment when their love would reunite.
