UNSPOKEN LOVE
Chapter 34
As khuhsi rushed out of the room, Arnav's phone rang and and the caller was none other than his girlfriend.
"Hello." He answered the call in a low voice.
"Where are you Arnav? We have a meeting scheduled and you are missing." Her screeching tone made him flinch, distancing the phone from his ears.
"My sugar dropped and Di won't let me come to the office today. Re-schedule all my meeting and appointments for today." He ordered.
"Are you kidding me? this is such an important meeting and you are askingme to re-scheduleit?" she asked in disbelief.
"I don't joke around Lavanya, and more than you. I know what is important and what is not, so just do what is told otherwise stay out of my business." He said in a deadpanned tone.
"I-I am sorry...I was just a bit occupied. I'll reschedule everything and by the way will you be coming tomorrow?" she asked.
"Yes I will." He said and saw Khuhsi entering the room. "Call me if you need anything." He said and disconnected the phone.
"Isnt there someone else who could manage your work leaving you to rest for at least one day?" Khuhsi asked while keeping a tray on the coffee table and picking up the glass.
"No...not exactly."
"what about Akashji?" she enquired handing him the glass.
"He has his own projects...what is this?" he ask with a scrunched look as he saw the black liquid in the glass.
"It's home remedy to control sugar, which from now on you'll be drinking everyday." Khsuhi told him.
"Please don't tell me you read something on google and experimenting it on me." he asked in disbelief.
"It wasn't on google, I asked Mummy and she told me it's the best. It looks awful but it will help in controlling your sugar." She said.
"It even smells awful." He said with a cringed face.
"But it's good for you." she said pleadingly.
"And in my sane mind, I shall never drink this." he said handing her the glaas back.
"Please...I don't want the repeat telecast of last night...please." She begged.
"No." he stated standing up from the bed.
"If I'll spilt into half and share it...will you?" she asked in a hope but he looked at her in surprise. Why would she drink something so awful without even needing it.
"I'll decide later, but first you drink it." he pushed her just wanting to check her and to his interest she ran down to bring another glass. She filled her glass, sharing the contents of his glass and showed him the equality on which he nodded. As she bought the glass towards her nose her face cringed but in one gulp she drank away the content of the glass making Arnav dumb folded. He was just staring her in disbelief and then suddenly she gaged.
"Are you okay?" he asked her.
"I am good...it's your turn now. it's better than plain milk." She tried to encourage him. sseing the sacrifice which she did just few moments ago, she bought the glass closer to his nose and his face scrunched but he gulped the brownish black liquid in one go. He cant be week in front of a girl. Khuhsi jumped in excitement.
"You did it!!!" she exclaimed but Arnav almost gaged as the liquid was rising up his throat burning his food pipe.
"Have some water." She gave him the glass and he drink it immediately to wipe that sensation from his throat.
"Better?" she asked and he nodded.
"Fine...from tomorrow we'll drink it in morning." she chimed and gave him his mug of coffee. He looked at her happy face and couldn't help himself from thinking about her. how can she be so selfless? For his sake, she didn't slept almost the entire night and the bags under her eyes were the evidence of this. she made him a drink and drank i too? On the other hand the girl he calls his girlfriend, didn't even bothered to ask about his health for once. Although he don't want to, but he couldn't help himself from comparing the two.
The entire day she didn't let him step down. she was all around him, serving him whatever he wants on the bed. it was like a perfect holiday for him, in which he rested every single minute. Thanks to Khushi, as she kept blackmailing him about complaining about him to Di who would obviously take her side. this blackmailing worked for his betterment as his phone was forcefully made switched off and laptop was somewhere out of his reach. This initially annoyed him but then once he fell asleep and woke up with a better health and peace of mind he just loved it. the day faded away into night and he already had his dinner in his room. after sleeping endlessly for almost the entire day sleep was far away from his eyes. he was pacing in his room when his eyes landed on the little pup sitting next of Khushi's recliner. He looked at remembered when Khushi told him how he was the one who informed him abou him being on the stairs. If he wouldn't have come maybe he would have been ling unconscious on the stairs for the rest of the night. Arnjav jumped out of his bed and made his way towards the little pup but the pup immediately moved back.
His yes were too innocent and he was cooing very softly. He was no doubt scared of Arnav but to an extend the feelings were mutual. He couldn't understand how Khushi manages to be around him and infact talk to him. it seems that they understand each other's language. His little soft cooes would let Khushi know if he is in pain or is hungry or anything.
"Are you scared of me?" Arnav asked him maintaining the safe distance from him. he sounded so stupid to his own ears. If someone would caught him talking to a dog, he would really look like a fool.
On his query, the pup just moved a bit more back but tumbled on the floor. He sighed in frustration and got up. There is seriously no one to entertain him in such a state. He walked out of his room and in he saw lights coming out of the kitchen. He waked towards it and saw Khushi mixing something in a bowl. He walked towards her but she was so occupied whisking the thick brown paste which looked like a cake's batter and stood right next to her.
"What are you making?" he asked her and the sudden voice startled her.
"What are you doing here? I told you to rest?" Khushi raised her voice.
"I tired of resting." He said nad dipped his finger in the batter but Khushi immediately jerked his hand away. No one...No one in this world had the courage to jerk his hand away but this time when she did for the first time he enjoyed. He was enjoying annoying her.
"It's the cake." She said but he licked the little amount of thick brown batter in his hand.
"Cake? For what?" He asked dipping hi finger again and licking it again.
"Will you just stop eating it?" she asked and licked his finger sheepishly.
"By the way how is it? it's sugar free." She asked.
"What? This?" he took some more in his finger and licked it again annoying the crap out of her.
"Keep your finger away from my cake." She spat and took the bowl away.
"It's nice...It's actually addictive." He said and wanted more but she had already shifted the bowl to the other counter.
"I wonder how can you get tired of resting? If someone would have told me to rest like this...I would never more an inch." She said.
"You didn't told me why are you making this cake?" he asked.
"You don't remember?" she asked in disbelief.
"Nooo..." he said with uncertainty recalling every birthday which he remembers in just a nanosecond.
"It's naniji's birthday tomorrow." She said while pouring the batter in baking container.
"Oh." He managed to speak. Seriously it's was the hardest thing for him to remember birthdays especially of a person who he thinks was never young. He don't know why but he cant imagine his grandmother as a young lady or even a kid. The mere thought seems to be quite disturbing for him.
"You please sit somewhere...don't stand for so long." Khushi said.
"I am not that weak." He retorted.
"Oh...I am feeling dizzy...someone please help." Khushi mimicked his voice and kept his hand n his forehand making him fume.
"Shut up." he said to threaten her but she giggled loudly.
"See I bought candle for Naniji." Khushi showed him the flower candles which she had hunted for long.
"You know they are edible." She asked him with excitement.
"Okay? What you want me to say?" he asked unsure what to say about the candles.
"Say they are nice...you have a good choice...something like that." She said and he gave the disbelieving look.
"Fine don't say anything..." she told him after looking at his face.
"Can I use your laptop tomorrow?i have to make a presentation? Khushi asked him and suddenly he remember about his missing laptop.
"Where is it?" Arnav asked as if she had just told him she had stolen one of his kidney.
"Somewhere safe...but answer my question first." She demanded.
"Yes you can but tell me everything is safe in it." he demanded.
"It's fine...I hadn't used it yet I know you don't like me using your things." She said bitting her lowerlip remembering his words. Suddenly the atmosphere grew tense and the beeps telling the cake is ready snapped them out.
"You can use it whenever you want." He told her and she nodded and went to took the steaming cake out. It looked nice and fluffly. Khushi started decorating it with lots of cream and Arnav worked as her assistant first forced then willingly. Once satisfied with the work she smiled proudly and patted his shoulder.
"Thanks junior." She said and placed the candle which was the last left. It took him few seconds for her words to sink in and process.
JUNIOR' seriously?
"Hey what did you just called me?" he asked her.
"Nothing just go and call Di and Akash ji. We have to surprise Naniji at midnight." She said but he didn't budge.
"Go Chotte...your di must be waiting." Khushi practically dragged him out of the kitchen as she was trying not to give him the opportunity to speak. Actually deep down she doesn't want to ruin the perfect day which she spent with him today.
