Arnav's POV

My slumber was suddenly interrupted with a loud knocks on the door of my room. I stirred in my sleepy state trying to ignore the noise but then I heard soft barks which definitely startled me. I heard the sound of door opening and murmurs of Khushi and I guess it was Di as I heard her hushed voice too. I instantly woke up and saw Khuhsi closing the door and waking inside towards her recliner and bent down to crouch down on her knees. To have a better view, I sat up and saw Khushi taking the pup in her arms she bought home yesterday night. Her back was facing me and just like she was checking that pup just in the way I wanted to check her.

"Khushi..." I spoke softly but that one word made her body stiff. Neither she replied nor she turned back to face me.

"Are you okay?" I asked her and I saw her keeping the pup down and stood up.

"You can use he washroom first." She said and went towards the closet.

The entire night I hardly slept as I was keeping an eye on her. I knew that she was hurt but she wasn't telling me. DAMN ME for driving in such a speed. But that little argument we were having just made me crazy. I thing which I didn't liked was her was refusing my offer. I wasn't giving her that money out of mercy or something. I genuinely felt she needed the money as the college she was studying in was quite expensive. And to top that all up she was Raizada now and my wife. The girl whose husband runs such a huge company is not at all in a need to ask someone else's help for money especially her parents. What they would be thinking about me? And then this happened. This small pup all of a sudden from no where came in the middle of the road and I stepped on the brakes almost immediately to avoid any disaster. The car halted on time but the car circled towards left and Khushi ended up hitting her head in the mirror. It must be painful as I still remember how loud the noise came from that collision but she isn't telling me which is making me guilty from inside. This is what we end up to.

One day we stay like friends the next day we fight and end up landing ourselves in this strange and awkward silent. Initially I never minded this silence but now when I have learnt so much about her, the silence bothers me. She was right, we should be friends so we can live happily for the time we have to. The sound of her closet closing broke the trance of thoughts and I stood up from the bed. She turned back shutting the closet and for the first time in today, I saw her face. She looked tired, as if she didn't slept well last night.

"You can skip college for today. You d-don't look well." I said.

She was looking on the floor and continued looking their while she spoke almost in whispers. "I am fine. I can't skip college."

She walked away from me towards the pool side and sat on the floor. Now this was my cue that she doesn't want to talk and I have to be the one using the washroom first, we were running late so I quickly completed my morning rituals and left the washroom. she was still their but this item that pup was with her too. He was in her laps trying to lick her face but she was holding him back. As I saw them first, I cringed knowing that he was a street dog, but then I smiled seeing that atlas he was making her smile. moreover Khushi had nearly scrubbed his brown fur white.

"Khushi...you can go now." I told her and keeping that pup safely on the floor she stood up. The pup tried to follow her but he stumbled back on the floor. His limb must be injured. I walked towards him but he shifted back. So he was scared of me too. I didn't try then but Khushi was out of the washroom in record time. She stuffed her books in her bag and marched out of the room and I followed her behind keeping few of her painkillers with me.

"Hey Bhai." I heard Akash's voice and I saw him sitting on the dining table beside Di.

"When did you came back?" I asked him giving him a small hug and rounded the table to sit on my chair.

"Early morning." he said while sipping from his juice.

"How was the work." I asked him and meanwhile Khsuhi came from the kitchen and sat beside me.

"It was great." He chimed.

"Chotte tell me when I am, getting my husband back? you send him for some meeting na? when is he coming back?" Di said pointing butter knife at me.

"In two -three days Di." I said focusing on my plate which was now filled with breakfast.

"So how was your stay at Khushiji's house?" she asked me.

"Good." I said.

"And you bought a new member home from there?" she asked excitedly.

"New member?" I asked in confusion.

"That cute little puppy. I saw him in your room..." Di said.

"He is not staying here Di, he'll go." I said.

"But why? He is so cute and small too?" she asked with a pout making me smile a bit.

"He is a street dog Di...and he can't live here." I told her.

"Khuhsiji...you say something? Di asked and suddenly she paused.

"Are you okay Khsuhiji?" I saw the concern on Di's face and I immediately turned to see at my side.

"I-I am fine Di." She said nervously.

"But you don't look like." Di said.

"Yes...you look so..." Akash paused looking for the right word.

"You take a leave today...You don't look fine." I said to her.

"No..I am fine...and Di I'll be late I have extra classes." Khushi declared ignoring me.

"Extra classes? You don't look fine to attend your normal classes and you want to attend extra classes?" I asked her in disbelief.

"It's just a simple headache." She snapped at me and suddenly everyone on the dining table got silent.

"Just shut up and listen to me Khushi."

"No, I won't and you listen to me...I will go to the college and attend all my classes with extra classes." She got up from the chair leaving her breakfast unfinished and marched back to the kitchen and then my eyes landed on Di and Akash who were staring me.

"What?" I snapped at both of them and it felt like someone had hit their play button again as Di said.

"Aksah am I dreaming?" she asked and I stood up from the table unable to bear their mock. I saw Khuhsi coming out from the kitchen rubbing her temple ones but as soon as she saw me she kept her hand down.

"Di I am going please give him some milk...wait not you...tell hariprakash ji to give him some milk." She said.

"Okay." Di smiled at her and then she followed me. we sat in the car and their was a pin drop silence between us. I stole glance of her and she looked uncomfortable. She was rubbing her temple again and again, and with a mere look on her face it looked how much pain she is in. her college arrived and I pressed the break but way too lightly. She unbuckled her seatbelt and hopped out of the car and as she was about to shu the door I called her. I fished out the 2 tablets I picked for her in the morning from my pocket.

"I know you won't tell me, but take these. You'll feel better." I said extending my hand to give her the tablets which she took without much protest.

"Thank you." she said softly taking the pills.

Giving her the pills I was somewhat satisfied that she'll be atleast relieved from hat all the pain she is bearing for some time. As I saw her figure disappearing in the crowds of other students, I turned on the ignition and left for my destination.

The day faded away very quickly that I didn't even realized that it was my time to leave the office. The work was so piled up and during the weakened I didn't got much time to finish my work so every single task and meeting attacked me today. I had to extend my office duration to finish my work and by the time I left the office it was already 10:30 and I was deadly exhausted. By the time I reached home it guess it was over 11 but I saw Di sitting on the dining table reading her book for better parenting. I don't even know how many books she had purchased because I always find a new one in her hand.

"Di, why are you still awake?" I asked her which broke her trance from her book.

"Hey...finally you came." She asked me closing her book and keeping it aside.

"Yeah...was a bit busy today." I said while slipping down opposite to her.

"So today both of your busy...even Khushiji came late and was so tired yet she cooked the dinner and did other things." She informed me.

"She cooked dinner?" I asked her in amusement unable to hold it. we have servants working for us and cooking is a part of their job until Khushi decided to replace them. ever since she stepped into the house, she had been cooking but from past few days due to her college it was like she had been cooking rarely and it would sound a bit weird but I like her food and I could guess when she made and when the servants. Her food is exceptionally different from others.

"Yes, I told her I have been missing her food so she took cooking stuff into her hand. Sometimes I regret asking her something. She is too stubborn to make you feel special." She said smiled making me smile too. Definitely the girl is too stubborn which makes her herself.

"And you know the pup you both bought, he only sticks with her. he is scared of everyone else." She told me and my lips twitched to curl.

"Chotte, is everything fine between you two?" DI asked me all of a sudden and I was taken aback by her question.

"Y-Yes Di...everything is fine. Infact I think you deserve a thanks from me because she is the best thing which has ever happened tome." I lied but I don't feel it like I was lying. She is really a very nice person.

"She was waiting for you and hadn't even ate a thing. Just few minutes ago when I came here to read by book I saw her sleeping with her head down on the table. her head was still aching slightly. I told her to go back to the room but as usal she was being stubborn but then I told her that I'll wake her up when you'll arrive. Now go first change and you both eat something." Di told me and it took few seconds for me absorb the whole information. Why is she doing this? why is she making things so complicated for me? for us?

"Chotte?" Di waved her fingers in front of me and I was snapped out of my trnace.

"Y-Yeah..."

"what happened...?" she asked me with a smile. "Wondering about her already?" I got up before DI could start something else and as I was about to make my way upstairs she called out for me again.

"Chotte..." I turned back to see her standing just few step away from me.

"If she wants to keet that puppy...then please let her." Di said and I nodded and marched towards the room. I opened the door as slowly as possible and as Khushi was scared of darkness the entire room was illuminated. I saw her sleeping on her recliner so peacefully that it would be sin to wake her up. but she need to eat something. The pup was under her the recliner and he saw me once uninterestedly and went back to sleep. I gingerly walked inside and first went inside to freshen myself up. I came out of washroom and saw her sleeping peacefully as her face was cupped with her palm and the other hand was resting on her tummy. I approached her and the pup woke up again but this time he stood up to move back.

"Khushi.."

I called out for her but there was no effect on her.

"Khuhsi...wake up..." I said shrugging her gently with her shoulder and she woke up slightly.

"You came." She sat on the recliner rubbing her eyes and yawned like a little baby she was. I smiled at her but luckily she didn't notice me.

"I'll bring your food." She said and was about to keep her feet down on the floor when I stopped her.

"You sit here...I'll bring the food." I said and she looked at me and yawned again making me had for me control my smile. I stood up and marched down the stairs to bring our food. It took me a while to fill our plates as today I was a bit hungry too because due to the work load I have to skip my lunch. Once satisfied with our filled plates I marched to our room back but then I saw her sleeping again. i kept the trey aside and tried to wake her up again but I wont lie I tried only twice. Seeing her pouty cute face, I let her sleep, not at all willing to disturb her at all. I switched off some lights to maintain sufficient amount of light for her ii climbed my bed and covering myself up with the duvet I closed my eyes and waited for my slumber to take me over.

Midnight all of a sudden I woke up with a throbbing skull. I know I had made the biggest mistake of skipping my lunch and dinner but never thought this would happen. I rubbed my temple and then my eyes landed on Khushi who was sleeping peacefully. I stood up but my legs wobbled slightly and I sat on the bed again. but gathering myself I stood up again but it was difficult for walk for me. it felt as if all my energy was drained out. I somehow managed to walk upto the middle of the banister and this was it. the remaining energy too in body exhausted and I sat on the stair and gave my head the support of the one behind me. everything was spinning and my vision got a bit blurry. I closed my eyes until and everything turned dark.
