Chapter 27
UNSPOKEN LOVE
Chapter 25
Next day
Khushi had woke up extra early, actually she didn't wake up, she was already awake as the nervousness for tomorrow's day didn't let her sleep in peace. As the sun chimed up, she quickly rushed to the washroom and took a longish shower of her life. The first day was already freaking her out and to top that up Arnav is going to drop her without his will. Ever since that incident happened he had looked at her, have a conversation was secondary. She glanced at her arms and saw the marks which he gave her yesterday. The places where his nails pierced her skin had some dried blood and the rest of the area was turning blackish-blue. That place was aching ever since this happened but she preferred ignoring it.
She had decided to wear a full sleeved salwar suit today, as she doesn't want anyone to witness those marks and assume that she is being tortured. She quickly dressed into the clothes she had decided to wear and came out of the bathroom fully dressed. She went to the dresser and picking up a brush she solved her tangled hair looking herself in the mirror. From the mirror she saw the peacefully sleeping figure of her husband. No one could think that he could be so rude to her once these doors are shut but the scars witness a different story. She saw him shuffling on the bed and immediately averted her gazes from him. quickly finishing her hair, she rushed down the banister to make some coffee and breakfast foe him.
She returned the room, holding a tray of his breakfast. Her arm wasn't aching that badly yesterday but the pain seemed to be increasing every passing minute. He surely has a grip of steel. She opened the door and saw the empty bed. he was definitely using the washroom, so she kept the tray on the night stand and started packing the stuffs she would require today in college. She was packing her stuffs in the bags when she heard the sound of door clicking open and then some faint footstep. From the corner of her eyes she saw him picking up the coffee. Managing some courage, which was the only thing left she spoke.
"You don't have to drop me if you don't want."
She wasn't looking at him and she knew neither he was. She kept stuffing her bag and then she heard his voice. "I don't have a choice."
Exactly neither she had a choice when her parents forced her into this marriage. It was to an extent acceptable, that her parents wanted her to get married at the right age, but why couldn't he decline the proposal of this marriage when he was least interested. why he ruined her life just for the sake of the momentarily happiness of her sister. She blinked back the tears which had welled up in her eyes and without even looking at him, she left the room.
He thinks she was the one selfish for his money, but what was he? Actually he was the one selfish here in this relationship.
Anjali-"Khuhsiji ready for the first day?" Anjali's question interrupted her thoughts and she came back to reality.
"Almost di" she replied in a low voice.
Anjali-"What happened Khuhsiji, you look upset?" she asked in a concerned tone.
A sudden manly voice interrupted the two talking. "Di, she is being all nervous today. Please tell her I am not going to stand out of her college like the guardians of kindergarten." Arnav mocked. Khushi looked at him for the first time in the day, and the smile plastered on his lips looked so genuine that anyone could fall for it but I was all a faade which he wears in front of the world.
Anjali-"Aww...khushiji...don't be like this..."
Khushi-"I am fine Di." Khushi said in a dull voice and whent his time she looked at him his smile had disappeared and a knitted eyebrow look indicating his utter confusion took over.
Khushi-"Shall we leave, I don't want to be late for the first day?" she asked Arnav.
Arnav-"Ye-Yeah sure." He stammered a bit but agreed to leave.
They both were seated in the car and the silence took over. Arnav was stealing glance of her as somewhere he knew her behavior was unusual but didn't knew he himself was the reason of it.
Arnav-"What time you will leave?" he asked her trying to build the conversation.
Khushi-"5" she replied shortly. "Can you please stop the car there?" she pointed him a temple and he huffed but still halted there. Khuhsi hoped out of the car and shut the door gently behind her.
"You may go now?" She told him from the window while standing out.
Arnav-"what do you mean?" he asked her in bemusement.
Khushi-"I don't want to bother you anymore. After yesterday things gave me a clear vision that we can't even be friends in the near future. So you don't have to doall this." she told him and straightened herself.
Arnav-"Get in the car Khushi, I am not in the mood of early morning drama." He demanded.
Khuhsi-"Exactly, let end all the drama which I have to play in front of your family and others." She retorted in a high pitched voice. He hopped out the car and violently shut the door of his side which made her flinch. They were on the road but all this didn't matter for both of them.
Arnav-"Don't talk to me like that and just get in the car." He said with his clenched jaws.
Khushi wasn't looking at him but her eyes were looking for something on the road.
Arnav-"I said get in the car." He yelled at her and hold her to the exact place on her arm where he had gripped her yesterday which made her yelp in pain and he immediately left her arm. He looked at her which had tears welling up but didn't understood what had just happened. He hadn't even hold her, it was just a simple touch but what had made her yelp so loudly in pain. He wondered for a while and then she saw something she was looking for.
Khuhsi-"Taxi..." she screamed and the taxi came right in front of her which she climbed without evening giving a second glance to her husband. The taxi took her to her destination leaving her husband there standing alone on the road. he was just staring her blankly when some hint of realization hit him. Did he unintentionally abused her? the mere thought of it made him guilty. He wanted to see her but he can't. after what all he did, no one would like to see him. he huffed aloud thinking what he had just done. He banged his fist in the roof of his car but that was nothing in comparison to what he did. She just wanted to be his friend and h kicked her away. she was right, spending months like this would be horrible and getting her cold shoulder was a big reality check for him, but he had messed up with her friendship. He got on to the drivers step and hit the ignition. Today he wasn't angry on her but was on himself.
***********************
Arnav reached his office a bit early than the usual timing as Khushi left him alone on the road. He was in his snappy mood. Unknowingly he did something which he is regretting badly. She didn't asked much from him, just a friendship that to spend this life under contract peacefully. What would have happened I she would have answered the call? He could have thrown a set of lies in front of her but it wouldn't have hurt her in this way.
"Sir coffee." He heard a knock and his assistant kept a mug of coffee in front of him on the desk and left. He was looking at that mug and his thoughts drifted to the early morning mug of coffee which she made for him. she bought the up closer to him but then his subconscious reminded him about the girl he was thinking of. His Wife. Why on earth he is thinking about her? what is he is so concerned about her? Accidents do happen and it was one of them. he is thinking about a girl so much who can hurt anyone with her selfish behavior.
"ARnav..." A sudden voice broke his trance he accidently drop his mug over his lap drenching himself in coffee.
"Shit." He stood up immediately wiping the coffee and Lavanya came in.
"I am so sorry" she said while wiping the coffee. "I didn't knew you were.."
"What do you want Lavanya?" she shugged her hands away from him.
"I..I just came to see you. It's been so long..." she sais with a put and hugged him sideways making sure his coffee won't ruin her dress.
"I am fine." He said monotonously.
"Ypu know I told my brother about you and he wants to meet you>" she chimed and Arnav gave her a quikered look.
"Are you serious? What am I going to do in that meeting?" he yelled at her.
"Why are you yelling at me, I should be the one doing this after knowing hearing all those things on the phone. Seems like you enjoyed your honeymoon way too much that you forgot you put this ring on my finger first." She mocked at him showing him the ring which he gave her.
"Shut up Lavanya." He retorted.
"No I am not going to shut up. First you got married to that some down-market girl and were enjoying your honeymoon with her. and now when I am saying to meet my brother so you can explain our relationship you are baking out." She snapped at him
"Don't you dare you talk to me like that again." He growled.
"I-I am s-so sorry...I-I didn't mean to yell at you like this." Lavanya spoke softly figuring out what she had just done. He sighed and went back to work.
"Please, you'll be coming to meet my brother, isn't?" she asked in lot of hopes just not to hear his upcoming answer.
"Just leave for some time. I have already some matters to figure out at home and now don't add another stupid request to my list." He told her staring at his laptop.
"Our relation is not serious." She spoke in a low voice and left. Well, if it wouldn't had been for his reputation and status, he would have preferred stayiong single all his life but being a man he had his needs and Lavanya was easy to access. She didn't only gave him the status but also fulfilled all his needs, but all these commitments bothered him especially when he has a so-called-wife' sitting at home.
The day ended somwhow and he reached home around 8:00. Khushi was already home and was in the kitchen. He didn't bothered to talk to her and marched to his room. once the dinner was done and every one retired to their respective rooms, he got the time alone with his wife to sort things out but she didn't gave him the chance to speak.
The lights were switched off and the night lamps was illuminating the room. Khushi was fast asleep on the recliner but sleep was far away from his eyes. making sure she is asleep, he came near her recliner and kneeled down in front of her. her left rm was under him hiding the the thing he want to see. He gently removed the duvet covering her body and she stirred in her slumber. Thankfully she wasn't wearing full sleeved clothes. She was a heavy sleeper so somehow trying his best not to disturb her as it would be very awkward for him she open her eyes, he somehow managed to pull her left hand up. as he saw her arm, a pure horror filled his gut. A black and blue scar which was quite large and visible had formed in her arm. There were few scratches and pierced flesh. His guilt increased ten folds on seeing this and he was sure as hell tha it must be aching as well.
He slowly stood up from there and bought an ointment from the first aid box. It would burn a little and she would probably wake up but it was the least he was concerned about. He crouched down to her level and squeezing the tube out the gently applied the ointment. Once satisfied with his work and happy that h did it successfully without waking her up he stood up and turned on his heel.
"What were you doing here? And Ah...what have you applied over it?" her sleepy voice halted his moments ad his questions forced him to look her around. She was looking at her arm and pain was visible on her eys beautiful eyes. she was blowing her wound over the ointment.
"This is a least a friend could do." He said and left her staring his back. he just called her, his friend?
