Part 27:

In the faint light that came through the curtains, he could only see Sakshi's silhouette...a voice from inside his head alarmed him that he had come at a very wrong time...Something was just not right!

Mindlessly, he turned his glance to Arjun and muttered an apology, "Sorry sir...shaayad main galath waqt pe..."

Arjun snapped him short..."thats ok...tell me what you found..."

When Prithvi hesitated further, he urged again, "Go on"...So Prithvi started off his findings, "Sir, usska naam Dayal hai...He is part of a big group but he isn't disclosing any more details...itna maar khaaya, phir bhi chup hai..."

Arjun looked at him enquiringly and Sakshi sharpened her ears to hear the conversation while Prithvi continued, "usske paas ek phone tha...uss mobile se sirf ek number mila...aur woh number ek private number hai jo..."

Sakshi interrupted, "I need to go back..."

Both men turned their focus to the lady who seemed not at ease...She was angry and her tone reflected it...Prithvi couldn't see her clearly even now and so he looked at her outline as if he were seeing some alien...while Arjun was obviously flaring up and his look had just one question, "are you mad Miss wrong number?"

Sakshi didn't want to come closer for obvious reasons, her dress wasn't proper and she knew that her face would show off all that had transpired between her and Arjun but then she also wanted to get away from there...

Arjun raised his hand and stopped her from talking anything further and then voiced urging Prithvi to continue, "Did you get any details about the number?"

Prithvi replied instantly, "Woh number samaajh ke naam pe registered hai...its clear that someone has been operating from within the samaajh"

Arjun enquired, "kaun use kar raha hai woh number?"

Prithvi shook his head in negative...the network inside the samaajh was inscrutable for various security reasons...SO whatever they could do was from outside that boundary else they would have to go official and initiate a raid which was now not a viable practical option given the fact that they had no clue who the black sheep was and an open attack could prove dangerous to the other innocent inmates there...

Arjun understood all that from just Prithvi's expressions as the two officers had grown smart enough to understand one another's body language...

Sakshi left behind her inhibitions and stepped a little forward only to be stopped in her tracks but she voiced, "Arjun...unnke shaq badhne se pehle, I need to get back to my room...and as always, i need to go to the samaajh also..."

Arjun now replied to her, "Unne shaq nahi ab yakeen hogaya hoga Sakshi...you don't have anything to go back now...So just stay right there!"

Sakshi wasn't going to take any of his commands now...she ignored him and addressed Prithvi, "Inspector Prithvi Saxena, right?"

Well that literally shocked both the men...How the hell did she know him so well! Sakshi sarcastically chuckled at that...how she enjoyed giving such shocks to the great ACP Arjun Rawte...She then replied, "Well Arjun, what did you think? Tum kisi ko mere peeche lagaa doge aur mujhe khabar nahi hogi...huh?"

She crossed her hands against her chest and spoke to Prithvi, "Shaq toh mujhe pehle din se tha jab tum mere intezar mein guest house ke baahar uss thand mein teastall mein kadhe teh aur mere peeche peeche aaye...but I ignored [she grinned and added] sorry, maine socha ke tum ek road side romeo ho jo mere peeche padhe ho...[Both Arjun and Prithvi looked at each other hearing that and then looked back at the lady who was surprising them with revelations!]...[after a pause and a deep sigh] then things changed that night...You remember the night when you took my snap...uss din maine tumhe dekh liya tha Prithvi...I instantly understood that you were much more than what i assumed...phir mujhe sirf agle subah tak intezar karna padha yeh jaan ne keliye ke tum kaun ho"

When Arjun looked at her enquiringly, she explained, "you know I have my sources Arjun...and I had Prithvi's details in my hands...usska yahaan mere peecha karne ka maqsad aur usske boss ke naam...sab mujhe patha chal gaya...phir kya tha...tum dono ne wahi dekha jo main tum dono ko dikhaana chahthi thi...ab baat samjhe ya samjhaavum?"

Arjun's anger soared up realizing that she had made them a fool and made them puppets in her hands!

Arjun was quick to pounce on her with another round of questioning but she quickly added with a wink, "haan woh attack aur tumaara yahaan land karna was unexpected...I hadn't expected both so soon Arjun"

Arjun scowled at her for her cool casual attitude after all that had happened but then she didn't give him a chance again...She was adamant to go back with Prithvi, "Prithvi, itne din mere peeche peeche ghoom rahe teh, right? Aaj mere saat chalo...drop me back at the guest house..."

Prithvi stood silent gaping at the lady who was disclosing secrets which shocked him endlessly...What she disclosed was a real set back for him, a challenge of his work which she had won effortlessly and he had lost without an iota of doubt...The lady had clearly outwit him even before he realized the challenge she laid before him...He was in awe of her now...His boss's anger and fumes wasn't unnoticed by him as well...He could only grin inwardly thinking about ACP Arjun Rawte and his smart lady love!

He didn't want to stand there as witness to their bickering but he had been subject to it and now he just wished to escape...her state was no different...she didn't want one another lone moment with the ACP...she could feel his fumes and also knew that he would lash her out once Prithvi was gone...

But before she could even move towards the door, Arjun was quick to hold her back..."You aren't going anywhere Miss Sakshi Anand...Prithvi, tum jao...agar kuch aur information miley toh mujhe call karna...aur haan uss number ke baare mein main apne team se baat karunga...wait a sec"

Saying that, Arjun quickly made a call to Shree and put him on to Prithvi...He put the call on the loudspeaker and made sure that both his officers understood what was needed...He instructed to them, "So both of you work together to dig out more details about that number...Shree, uss Samajh ke network ko hack karo...find out if there is more to the samajh than what meets the eyes..."

Shree: right away sir...

Arjun sent away Prithvi giving him the permission to communicate with Shree directly...Sakshi was struggling to get free from Arjun's hold but Arjun kept his hold intact and also behaved casual till Prithvi left...

He bolted the door shut soon after and by then Sakshi also freed away from his hands...or rather, he had loosened his grip on her...

She voiced angrily, "tum hote kaun ho mujhe rokhne waale, haan?"

He advanced towards her to grab her back and replied, "don't you think that its too late for that question wrong number? Par agar tum chahti ho, then..."

He pulled her dangerously closer to himself and just an inch separated their faces which he threatened to close soon...but she struggled harder to step away...

He kept her fixed at the same position and added, "Sikandar ke khilaaf ka jung mera hai...ussme aise akele gusne ki haq kisne diya tumhe??? Roshni ke mauth ka bathla meri zindagi ka maqsad hai...tum kyun beech mein aayi?? Yeh sab karne waali tum kaun hoti ho???"

Sakshi didn't reply to any of his angry outpour and questions...Instead just pleaded to leave her...

Sakshi: Arjun, tum samajhte kyun nahi... I have to go back...

Her mellowed down pleading tone didn't reduce his anger...He shot back, "kyun? Kya lagtha hai tumhe...ek baar woh haar gaye toh dobaara tumhe maarne ki khoshish nahi karenge, huh? THEY WILL KILL YOU SAKSHI! Do you get that? They know you now...they know that you are with me!"

She replied, "Nobody knows the real me Arjun...and they wont do anything to me..."

Arjun was surprised at her confident reply. He ignored the first part and enquired sarcastically, "kyun? Tum koyi super woman ho ke goliyaan tumpe asar nahi karega???? Ya phir woh sab tumaare rishtadhaar hai ke sab maaf karke tumhe zinda chodh denge???"

And after a deep thought, he added the last question suspiciously, "or are you one among them?"

She instantly replied, "what if i tell you yes Arjun"

Arjun was shocked beyond words...his lips just muttered even though his mind and heart chanted against that and hope she was just playing around, "Sakshi tum?"

Was she fooling him or was she just pretending everything? What was she planning in her inscrutable little head of hers? Had she really infiltrated into that group and become one among them to destroy them? Or was she just on a mission against Sik? What dangerous plans were she hatching?

Her unpredictable self was always a puzzle to him but this was going beyond the extremes! Her words really confused him...and made him unsure if he really knows her!

His hold loosened instantly and she was taken aback by that gestured of his slightly...Stepping back she added with a false smile, "You cant accuse me even then Arjun...you cant blame me if did that too...yeh corrupt system, aur iss desh mein ho raha injustice ke khilaaf agar main jung karna chahti hoom toh iss mein bhurayi kya hai? [taking a deep breath as he stared into her face trying to judge and guage each word of hers] Mere papa ne iss desh keliye apne ghar pariwar sab chodhke mehnat kiya aur unne bathle mein kya mila, desh drogi ka naam aur saza e mauth??? He didn't deserve that Arjun...he never deserved that...never..."

Her words reduced to a mere whisper and it were filled up more with miffed up pains and unshed tears!

Arjun snapped from his shock and grabbed her back to assure her and calm her down, "dher se hi sahi par unne insaaf milgaya hai Sakshi..."

He was quite surprised that she had hid so much frustration inside her behind her normal casual smiling self! Never once had he thought that she had so much aggravation buried inside her!

Sakshi let a sarcastic chuckle which reflected more of her sorrows and disappointment...she replied, "kya faydha iss insaaf ka...justice delayed is justice denied...mere papa kabhi waapas nahi aayenge...aur tumaare Roshni bhi ab kabhi nahi aayegi Arjun...aur jo bhi inn sab ke zimmedhar hai woh sab ab bhi zinda hai aur khush hai...agar saza hua bhi toh kuch saal jail mein khaatenge...phir kya?...they will continue their life outside happily!...but look at you and me? We are living corpses Arjun...apnon ke mauth se aur unn bhayaanak yaadon se ab bhi choonch rahe hai...What wrong did we do Arjun? Why us?? Why???"

Her disappointed and given up attitude tensed him for sure...he held her firmly to himself, "Sakshi...you cant give up like this...We have to keep our faith alive Sakshi...unn sab ko saza milega...they will get what they deserve!...[letting a deep sigh, he moved to the more sensitive topic] Aur rahi baat tumaare papa ke aur Roshni ke...maana woh dono kabhi nahi aayenge but thats beyond our control Sakshi...tumne mujhe ehsaas dilaaya tha ke humein life mein aage badhna hai...[cradles her face in his palms]...you have given me a reason to live again Sakshi...tumaare hi sahaare maine move on kiya hai...havent we promised ourselves that we will share a good happy life?...ab tum uss promise se peeche nahi hatt sakthi...humaara ek future hai...ek life hai jiss mein sirf khushiyaan hogi...dont you want to live with me happily peacefully wrong number?"

Sakshi too dreamt of such a happy life but at times like this, her inner fire did catch up with her...she preferred to be silent for that question of his...it was tough even to attempt a reply to that question...but she knew that she had given him a reason to tense up...she never wished that...so she replied, "don't worry...I am not one of them as you think...I know that 2 wrongs will never set anything right Arjun...but i cant rest in peace till all those wrong doers are left to rot in hell...uss samaajh mein bohat saare gadbad hai jo baahar se kisi ko nazar nahi aatha but I am almost deep inside there...now I cant leave it in between or back out...mere saare mehnat waste hogi and yes, even if i back away now, I will not be spared! Waise bhi humaare naye life mein ateeth ke koyi bhi saaya nahi rehna chahiye Arjun!"

Arjun tried to tell something to stop her but she placed her fingers on his lips, "shhh Arjun...nothing will happen to me...aur waise bhi jab tak tum mere saat ho tab tak mujhe kuch nahi hoga!"

Arjun kissed her fingers and then replied, "aur isiliye mujhe bina bathaaye tum akele yahaan chali aayi, huh?"

She just grinned thinking that he hadn't left all that even now and he added, "You are still a mystery to me..."

She rose up on her toes and kissed his cheeks gently and replied, "isiliye toh main tumaare wrong number hoom"

He grinned thinking to himself, "I will resolve your mystery soon my dear wrong number" and then added before she tried further to distract him with her romantic antics, "ab se tumaare saare moves mujhe patha hona chahiye...no more running away hiding and planning without me...promise me that!"

She replied with her demand, "ok promise par tum bhi ab se wahi karoge jo main kehti hoom...aur apne gusse ko control karoge...promise?"

He smiled against her lips and replied sealing it with a gentle kiss, "hmmm"

They relished that moment of a silent promise to each other...her hands went around his neck and she made him bent down their forehead brushed each other gently...He enquired naughtily, "ab next kya karna hai madam?"

She understood his teasing and replied, "Send me back to the guest house"

He took a deep breath and knew that she was stubborn like him and wont rethink her decision to get back...He nodded but then spoke up naughtily, "ok...but not before I get what i wish for..."

Saying that he arched her back a bit and claimed her lips once again voicing, "You were gone away for a long time sweetheart...I missed you and I am not yet done with your punishment..."

Then he remembered her statement about none knowing the real her...he whispered, "Do I know the real you wrong number?"

She pulled him down with her replying with a naughty smile, "I am all yours...Know me!"
