Part 22:
Maan stood in his room, dumbfound. Everything was not going as he hoped it to be. Geet turned out to be something else than he had thought. Innocent, cute, funny, sincere - This Geet he knew no longer existed. In the end, just like others that he had known, she turned greedy and he had no choice but to leave her. How could he not realize this face of hers before? He was angry at himself, for trusting Geet, for letting her come closer to him. How could he? All the time the loved ones deceived him.. First his own family, then Dev and now Geet. The only person who stayed the same was Nayantara. Maan always believed that his family's death in the fire was somehow their own fault. Maybe because he was too young to understand fire, death and all. He always thought they are not dead, they will come back soon. But they didn't. Hadn't it been for Dev's dad to show up in front of him, otherwise he had no idea what he would've done to his life. Nayantara is his only hope now. If she deceived him too, and that is IF, then he will go crazy. One he wouldn't be able to forgive himself for not trusting Geet and second he wouldn't be able to come closer to anyone. What nonsense Maan?! Why are u thinking about Geet's useless words! Di would never dream of hurting me. If she wanted to deceive me then she would've done it long time ago when Dev left her. Dev and Nayantara were married, then Dev suddenly died leaving Nayantara all alone. Then the Khurana Khandaan accepted her as their daughter too. Though she is younger than Maan, but he believes she's more experienced than him and therefore calls her Di. She was the only one there for him when he needed someone the most. His dad passed away and Dev died too, leaving him alone in this world. His second family left him too just like his first family did. Though Nayantara took his kindness in to a whole new level, her greediness increased day by day. Her bigger plan was to capture his heart but since he has named her "Di", she decided to back up with that plan and go on with a new one, not wanting to end his trust in hers. Now as his "older sister", she will take away the remaining of his property and things didn't go the way she wants it, then "ghee tedi ungli se nikalni pade gi".
Maan was slowly fading away into his own world, getting lost in his own depth of thoughts. So Maan your life is finally back in tracks since Geet has left. Now you only focus on yourself and Di, and pretend a girl named Geet never existed. It felt like a normal routine for him to forget the peoples who once meant the world to him. But will he be able to forget? Geet surely has left the house, but not his heart and mind. She still lingered in his brain and heart.
"Enough Maan! She's gone and that's it! Why is it that you are thinking about her too much?!" Maan scolded himself.
Scene shifts to Geet.
She is walking along the sidewalk, a journey to an endless pathway. She felt betrayed,lost, hurt, sorrowful - like all of the depressed feelings were engraved within her. Where is she suppose to go now? Certainly not Hoshiyarpur! They would bury her alive when they'll know that her husband has kicked her out. Then where can she go? As the day was coming to its end, Geet still couldn't make up her mind. She would've stayed in a hotel but she has no money on her. She couldn't think properly, her mind was set on Nayantara and her vicious plans. She is mad at Maan for not trusting her, for characterizing her negatively, thinking she's after his money. No she's only after him, his love! She set aside her past, set aside her needs and requirements for him, and only for him. It was just as simple as that. But no he had to go on about her greediness. Her mind wanted to stay mad but her heart kept on bringing back some sweet moments, moments they've spent together. Like the airplane scene, where she kept on complimenting Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan but not him, and his jealousy, it was so obvious. How he just went over and held on to her hand, without giving a care in the world. How they roamed the streets of Paris. Everything just kept on playing. Geet just stop! Suddenly her stomach started to growl.
"Subha se kuch bhi nahin khaya... Paise bhi nahin hain. Ab main kya keroon?"
Geet walks around, hoping to find some way to eat food. Suddenly she stumbled upon a paper.
HIRING NOW! Those two words caught her eyes. She needs to do something now if she wants to survive. She went to the giving address, hoping to find success. It turned out to be a restaurant and they were hiring waitresses. Not turning down the opportunity, she quickly accepted the job. A miracle won't happen like Maan coming to get her or something, if she wants to live, she needs to make a living all on her own. AND PLUS everything doesn't go the way you want always!
By now she had a place to stay (in the restaurant) and a place to work to make a living. This was not a bad opportunity. She started working and ate. By then, the stars started to shine above the restaurant. It was 10 pm now, the restaurant was closed now. This was actually the first time she ever worked in her entire life.
--After 2 weeks--
Time like had stopped for Maan. He was no less than a living corpse. He has lost his appetite by now. Staying in his room all day/night, lost in Geet's thoughts. The more he thinks about her, the more he is worried about Geet. Where is she now? Hoshiyarpur? How are they treating her? He really wants to go check on her but never finds the courage to do so. He still believed that she was at wrong. If she was right, she should've come back and defend herself. But no! His mind was entangled with many disturbing thoughts! Therefore, he couldn't concentrate on his work at all. Suddenly, Maan's cellphone rang.. Hoping it was Geet, he quickly answers it.
"Hello! Geet! Kahan ho?!"
"Hello? Maan?" A husky male voice asks. Maan comes back to his senses. Why would she be calling me?
"Bol raha hoon." Maan replies arrogantly.
"Geet kahan hai? Main us ke phone pe bhi try ker raha hoon per mil hi nahin raha. Woh to shukar hai mujhe aap ka number aap ki company se mil gaya."
"Geet? Koun ho tum?" Maan gets alert as soon as he hears her name.
"Main Rohan hoon. Geet ka friend."
Maan now remembers. Geet and Rohan? Their supposed "secret" relationship. She, herself, told Rohan on the phone to keep their relationship a secret when they were in Paris. Everything comes back to his mind. He has totally forgotten about him. Could he be the reason why she also just left the house without defending herself?
"Mujhe nahin pata kahan hai woh!"
"Woah! Itna ghussa kyun? And why don't you know ke woh kahan hai. Mujjhe us se baat kerni hai. Bhot important hai!"
"Suno! Main us ka nauker nahin hoon jo main us ke aagay peeche phiron! If she doesn't pick your phone then it's not my problem!"
"Daikho Maan! Tum ainvayi mera time waste ker rahay ho. Jahan pe tum hote ho wahan pe Geet hoti hai! So please meri baat kerwa do! It's important!"
"Kyun? Itni important kounsi baat hai jo mujhe nahin pata chal sakti?!"
"Woh main tumhe nahin bata sakta! Geet ne mana kiya hai."
On hearing that, Maan just hangs up, sending his phone some miles away, thrashing it against the wall. Samajhta kya hai apne aap ko! Geet ne mana kiya tha! Of course! Woh apni love life mujhse kyun share kare gi! Whatever. Geet and I are over! Whatever happens to her doesn't concern me.
Meanwhile...
In the living room, Nayantara is sitting with bunch of suitcases laying on the table. She's on the phone with her lawyer planning her next step.
"Aap fikr mat karain. Kal tak Maan ka kaam sab tamam ho jaye ga. Geet bhi nahin ab. Us ko to main is liye layi thi so she can distact Maan's mind, taking him away from the office and all. But woh pagal meri hi pol kholne lagayi. Is liye usay to ghar se nikalna tha. Ok phir theek hai. Kal shaam ko milte hain, Maan ka kaam tamam ho jaye ga tab tak. Don't worry.. Papers tayar rakhiye ga. All i have to do is just sign, baki sab kuch mera ho jaye ga!" She hung up the phone with an evil laugh.
"Bas aaj ki raat Maan... Kal tum gaye kaam se!"
