Chapter 11
Untouched Yaadain:

Part 11:
Geet is walking slowly on the empty streets while the rain is drenching her. She's always been scared of the darkness. Now it's 10:00 pm. Normal people usually go off to sleep at this time and psycho people roam on the streets; bad people, Geet's philosophy. People who take advantage of women who are alone. She was afraid. Trembling from the cold. Her legs aching from pain. She didn't know for how long was she walking. 5 minutes? 20 minutes? Or maybe half an hour? It felt like to her as if she has walked 1000 miles. In the distance she found a shed. She thanked God and ran over there as if she had found a shelter. She quickly took out her phone from her bag.Thank God one of the wedding guests gifted her a cell phone. Otherwise she didn't know what to do. She looked over her contact lists, but there was no number saved other than Maan's. She haven't even gotten a chance to memorize her house phone number. Thanks to her housework. She dials his number but no one answers her call. Maan keeps on disconnecting her calls. If he didn't like about her asking him about his past then at least he shouldn't have punished her like this? Leaving a girl all alone in the middle of the night? What kind of justice is this? She understands that her asking about his past has hurt him, but... Why is he acting like this? If he doesn't want to tell her about his past then that's fine. It's not like she was forcing him that he got so mad. She was getting furious at him. She tried calling him so much but he always disconnected her call. By the 10th time, she quit. If he doesn't want to answer then fine! She won't bother him! It was still pouring hard. The water stood still on the road it came up to her ankles. She can't stay here forever. She has to start her journey sooner or later. But going in this weather is very dangerous. She had two options; walk home in this weather or stay here under the shed till it stops pouring. After over thinking about her two options, she finally came up with her decision. She couldn't stay here. If she stayed here, that means inviting danger. If Nayantara finds out then who knows how will she react? Why did you spend the night outside? There would be useless drama created. And that's the last thing she wants. If Maan wouldn't come back then that's fine with her now. She wants to prove to him that her life doesn't revolve around him. If he left her here in the middle of nowhere then that's fine. She will make it to "his" home without asking for help. Geet smiled at her decision and took off. Who cares if its pouring? She loves rain and that's all it matters. Why should she switch off her mood just because of that Dusht Dhanav? Maan has now officially created an hatred corner in Geet's heart. She still thinks that this is not a way to deal with a woman! Geet keeps on walking and tries to forget about everything related to Maan and focuses on what lays ahead. In the rain, she almost slipped but caught her balance. After thanking God for saving her, she went on with her journey. She dance a little or kick the water which laid on the road. Meanwhile, Maan reached home. He angrily goes to his room that he doesn't notice that Nayantara is home. Nayantara sees him and gets scared. What if he finds out? No no he can't. She quickly sneaks out of the house. Maan enters his room, throws his coat, phone, and the keys on bed aggressively. How dare she ask about my past?! Throughout the whole ride, Maan was boiling with anger that he didn't notice the thundering of the thunderstorms. Maan was out of control. He went in the bathroom to pour some water on his face. He drenched his face 3 times. When his anger was a lil calmed down, he went to the balcony and kept looking at the same spot of the garden where Geet stood before they left. How beautiful she looked! Her brown eyes bewitched him. Provoking him to step out of his darkness self and transform into the real man he used to be. Back when Sameera hadn't entered his life. Before she betrayed him, left him shattered, not giving a care to the world. He wished for another chance. Not with Sameera though but with life. But when life didn't quit playing games with him. He turned his head the other way. Towards darkness and loneliness. Day by day he became cruel and contempt, isolating himself from the world. Thinking, the world is nothing but a betrayal. Before he gives the world a chance to shatter him once again, he would be gone by then, far away from the world. Where no one can reach him. Then how Geet reached him? He thought he was way above that no one can even dare to reach him. But Geet somehow did. Reached his heart and tried to take out all of the sorrows. But he didn't let her. He pushed her away when somewhere he himself knew that he needed her. More than anyone. The little corner of his heart gasped for her. But when she asked about his past, he didn't know exactly how to react? Tell her? Or yell at her for daring to ask about his past? His brain won over his heart and he yelled at her. Punished her for something she didn't even do. His past, Sameera, everyone came before him when she asked. He thought he had buried his past somewhere back in his heart. Where no one will reach neither Maan himself. He was very satisfied by the progress until today. One strike of thunderstorm over took Maan's thoughts. He looked up at the sky and realized what he had actually done. He left a woman all alone on the road. What if something happens to her? Hatred was overtaken by concern. His mood shifted to guilt from anger. How could he do something like that?! What had she done wrong?! Just asked me about my past?! It's not like she knows what I suffered? She only asked about my college life! Without wasting a second, Maan ran downstairs to find Geet, his Geet.
Geet kept walking, jumping, skipping; enjoying the rain, until she encountered two guys wandering on the opposite side of the road. Looking at her with lust lingering in their eyes. Pretending she didn't see them, she starts walking faster and look the opposite direction. One of the guy, tall and muscular came before her out of no where. Like he came out of thin air. She stopped immediately in her steps, looking at him angrily. Her anger boiling from himself. First Maan now him. What's up with men? They have no respect for women!
"Yeh kya battameezi hai?"
"Aray battameezi to humne abhi ki bhi nahi. Oye chote! Yahan to mamla thoda gadbad hai!"
"Hato mere raaste se!"
Geet tries to get away from him but he ends up holding her arm tightly. Geet winced in pain but never gave up. She tried her level best to free her hand. But that man was 10x stronger than her. Her anger was fuming. She kicked the guy on his legs which he winced and immediately let go of her hand. Thinking that this was her victory, Geet took off. But she was not that quick enough to get away. An another man reached for her. "Tumhari himmat kaise huwi boss ko laat maarne ki. Bolo boss kya kerain is ke saath." The man, who was half bent massaging his leg, looked up in anger. This time Geet got scared. "Oye! Is ko saath le chal! Phir pata chale ga isko!" Geet's eyes popped. She tries to free her hand but there was no luck. She knew she was trapped. There's no escape now. Especially when two muscular men stood before her desperately in need of want. Tears started to flow rapidly, unable to control herself. What have she done to get this? She begged them to let her go. Leave her alone! But her one kick provoked them. Anger them. Why would they let one great opportunity to fly away, it's a golden chance. Her pleads were vague before their eyes. But she still tried while the two men were busy laughing on her face. Laughing as it is some kind of a joke. Geet knew nothing but she was ruined and it was all Maan's fault. Meanwhile Maan drove constantly, looking here and there for his Geet. How stupid of him to do this? He drove at the same exact spot where he kicked her out. But she was not there anymore. He was hoping to find her here standing aside on the side walk, while waiting for a taxi. Maan got out of his car. His heart told him that she's here somewhere. He kept on walking while allowing the rain to drench him completely. Maan was furious, tired but never gave up.
"Geet, kahan ho? Geet.."
A tear formed in Maan's eye. He was as well astonished. Couldn't believe that he was crying after so many years. But that didn't really matter to him. What mattered the most was Geet, his lost Geet! From a distance Maan sees a vague picture of 2 men and a woman. But he was too far away to see it clearly. But when the screams of that girl awakened his ears, Maan was sure it was Geet. Her screams echoing in her ear.
"Geet!!" Maan started to run, Geet and the 2 men were startled. Geet was so confused as to what was he doing here after what had passed between them? Maan reaches them and gets frustrated when he sees them touching his wife. The sudden anger boiled him from inside. He no longer could control himself. Geet herself knew that there is something fuming him from inside. And she knew what it was. But why is he caring for her when he proved her that he's not interested in her even a slightest interest wasn't passed. Maan held on to the man's hand which was on Geet's shoulder and twisted it. While the other couldn't bear his friend getting hurt, he came forward and punched Maan on his face. Injuring Maan's cheek, blood started flooding. That was it to provoke Maan. Couple of punches and kicks, and they were down, seriously injured. Geet stood in the corner, crying her heart out. Maan quietly walks up to her, placating her. Geet was so happy. When she saw his injured cheek, she quickly band aided his cheek from her sari's pallu. While Maan is lost in her. This is the girl whom I got angry at? This angel? Maan cups his hands on her cheek, making her look in to his eyes. At first Geet was lost in them. But then she remembered how their fight started off just because of his eyes. He doesn't want me to know the past? Then fine! She pushes him away. Startled Maan looks at her in disbelief. Maan's remorse still lingering. Geet walks the opposite direction of the car.
"Geet wait! Ruk jao! Please!" He gets hold of her arm but Geet jerks away and again starts her little journey.
"Look I am sorry! I know what I've done is wrong aur main maafi maang raha hoon. Please Geet zid chodo aur gadi main baith jao. Tum bimaar padh jao gi. Please!" All of his pleads went unheard. She keeps on walking faster than before. Maan knew she would now never give up. No matter how much he persuades her, her stubbornness will be stronger than his.
"Fine Geet. You don't want to go then don't go. But please yeh mera coat pehn lo. Sardi bhot hai aur tum bimaar padh jao gi." Maan gives her his coat, but she doesn't take it. She looks at the opposite direction. Maan held on to her arm and pulled her closer to him. Geet looks at him in anger but then slowly her anger fades away like dust. Maan quickly put his coat on her shoulders, making her slide her arm in the coat arms. Maan, after finishing his task, lets her go. Geet comes back to her senses. She puts her angry mask on again and walks away. Maan was clever enough to not leave her again. He called his driver and told him to pick up his car. He'll be walking with her to their house. Geet walked ahead and Maan tried to catch up to her. The rain slowly stopped.
After an hour or two, they reached their house. Geet went straight to her room, while Maan stayed in the living room with Nayantara. Nayantara came home an hour early. Nayantara startles to see them two wet.
"Maan, aap to car main gaaye thay to phir yeh aap aur Geet kahan se geele ho gaye?"
"Woh Di, bas dil ker raha tha walk kerne ka barish main."
"Aur Geet ko kya huwa? Aate hi woh apne kamre main chalin gayi?"
"Nahin woh Di actually she was really wet, kapday change kerne gayi ho gi."
"Ok. Aap bhi jaiye aur change ker lain."
Maan goes to his room and finds Geet sitting down against a wall, head bent down, resting on her knees, and crying. Something clunged his heart, something that was bothering him from seeing this site. Maan walked closer to her. As he walked closer to her, he saw a suitcase sitting on the bed. Flustered as Maan was.
"Geet yeh sab kya hai?"
Geet didn't know Maan was there and was startled to see him there. Geet quietly got up, wiped her tears, and walked up to Maan. She clunged her suitcase.
"Main ab aap ke saath aik kamre main nahin reh sakti!"
This startled Maan for sure.
"Per kyun?"
"Kyun?! Abhi aap ka kyun rehta hai! Shaid aap ko yaad nahi raha Mr. Maan Singh Khurana! Jo aapne mere saath kiya, koi aur ladki bhi hoti na, woh ghar chod ke chali jaati aur main phir bhi is room se shift ho rahi hoon!"
"Daikho Geet, I know jo maine kiya woh ghalt tha. But maine maafi maangi to hai. And I am pretty sure tum mujhe maaf kerdo gi."
"Apni ghalt faimi door ker dijiye! Maine na hi aap ko maaf kiya aur na hi keroon gi."
Maan is taken back from hearing this. He knows he was wrong and it's his fault, and he deserves this too. But there's 2nd chance for everything. Right?
"Geet please. Di bahar hi hain aur main nahin chahta unko hamare baare main pata chalay."
"Di ki parwa hai aur meri? Main aap ki biwi hoon. Chahe 2 mahinon ke liye hi sahi, per hoon to na! Shaadi ki thi aapne sab ke saamne!"
"Geet, I understand! Tumhara ghussa banta bhi hai. But don't leave this room. For Di's sake!"
Geet thinks for a while. While Maan is silently praying to God to make her stay back. Di seemed so tired and creating a drama in front of her is the last thing he wants.
"Fine! Per meri shart hai, aaj nahin sahi to kal. Kal main iss kamre se shift ho jaon gi. Main ab aap ke saath nahin rehna chahti. Aur kaun rahe ga aise behraam insaan ke saath.:
Maan felt his stomach clung, his heart ached. Sameera left and now Geet. He didn't know exactly why Geet is effecting him so much. Whatever that's bothering him, it's not good.
"Aur rehi baat aap ke past ki," Geet went on, " Mujhe koi parwa nahi hai ke aap ke saath kya huwa, kisne kiya, aur kyun kiya! Maine to waise conversation shuro kerne ke liye bola tha. But you! Disgusting! You know what Mr. Maan Singh Khurana, jo bhi aap ke saath huwa hai na, I believe bhot acha huwa hai! You deserved it! Mujhe pakka yakeen hai aap ki hi ghalti ho gi. Jis tarha aap mujhe treat ker rahay hain na I am pretty sure aapne kisi aur ko bhi aisa hi treat kiya ho ga!"
That did it! Maan couldn't control himself. He pushed Geet in to a near wall, held on to her arms harshly. Geet winced.
"How dare you Geet!? You don't know a damn thing that happened back then! So don't you dare judge me! I know what ever happened tonight was bad and I apologized but you're taking it too far!"
"I am taking it too far?! Jo mere saath bahar huwa woh main hi sirf jaanti hoon. Aik akeli ladki raat ke 10 baje streets main phir rahi hai. Us ke aas paas kuch nahi hai bas tanhaayi ke alawa. Aur 2 bat-tameez ladke mere peeche badh gaye! And I am taking it too far! Agar aap na aate to pata nahi mere saath kya hona tha! Woh pata nahin mujhe kahan le jaate!"
"Geet maine tumhai itni dafa sorry bola aur tum?! Aur main kya keroon. Past main to main ja ker sab sahi to nahin ker sakta na!"
"Is liye aap abhi tak past main hi baithe hain! Koi bhi aap se aap ke past main baare main pooche to aap ko aisa ghussa chadta hai jaise aap us ka murder hi kerdo!"
"You know what! I felt bad for you before, aur ab after this fight, I don't feel pity for you at all! You think what happened to me was good then so is yours. Jo aaj raat ko huwa bhot acha huwa. Kaash main aata hi nahin, jaan to chudti tumhare se!"
Maan blurted out. He didn't know what he was saying. Everything came out unexpectedly. This broke Geet's heart in billion of ways. She pushed him in force. Maan almost landed on the bed but maintain his balance. Her tears flooding more than before. She went up to her bed, got her bag and was motioning towards the door when he warned her.
"Geet! Agar tum is kamre se bahar nikli to main tumhare saath bhot buri keroon ga is 2 mahinon main. You will regret it! It's better if you come back now!"
"Pehle aap mere saath kya acha ker rahay hain! Mujhe ab aadat ho gayi hai aap ke sitam se. So mujhe ab perwa nahin ke aap mere saath jo bhi bura kerain. Per main is kamre main nahin rahoon gi."
Saying this Geet exits the room leaving Maan startled.
"Ab Mrs. Geet Khurana jo main tumhare saath keroon ga na tum bhot pashtao gi! Just wait and watch!"
Nayantara sees Geet exiting Maan's room with her suitcase. She is flustered.
"Geet, aap kahan ja rahi hain? Aur woh bhi suitcase le ker? Kya huwa?"
Geet kept silent. Not knowing what to say. She quickly wipes her tears and leaves. Nayantara looks at her leaving and then back at Maan's room. She goes to stand before Maan's room door. She sees Maan in angry avatar. Flustered as she was.
"In donon ko kya huwa? Ladai to nahin huwi? Geet guest room main to shift nahin ho gayin? Shoot! Phir mera plan kaise chale ga! Agar yeh donon aik doosre se alag rahain gain phir hum apna kaam kaise ker pain gain? Kuch to kerna hi padhay ga?"
In the morning, Geet is laying on the bed, tears still shedding. She haven't gotten any sleep cause she was up all night busy thinking about the events. As to Maan, he was also laying down on the bed thinking about the same events. How their life changed over the course of a night. Everything was now different. Maan vowed to stay away from her and Geet vowed too.
They both got dressed and went down for breakfast. On the way they collided with each other. But quickly got away from each other. Nayantara saw their cold greeting and was fumed.
"Kuch to kerna pade ga." She whispered to herself. Maan sat down for breakfast along with Geet.
"Good Morning Di." They said it at the same time and were surprised but didn't show it.
"Good Morning. Waise Geet, aap sara din ghar main kya kerti hain? I mean Maan aur hum bahar kaam ke liye chale jaate hain, to aap ghar main akeli hoti hain na."
"Woh Di, bas thode ghar ki safai ker laiti hoon aur phir farig ho jaati hoon. Aap ka aur Maan ka intezaar kerti hoon." Maan was startled to hear this. Geet covers herself, "Mera matlab hai, raat ka khana sab akathe khaate hain na to bas bhook lag jaati hai. Is liye aap donon ka intezaar kerti hoon."
"Wow. You must be very bored." Concluded Nayantara. "Tell you what, aap Maan ka office kyun nahin join ker laiti. Is tarha aap ki boriyat bhi khatam ho jaaye gi."
Maan and Geet looked up at the same time, both surprised.
"Nahin nahin Di. Main ab itna bhi bore nahin hoti."
"Aray, Nakul humain bata daite hain ke aap ne kya kiya aaj. Aur woh hamesha yeh hi kehte hain ke aap kitna bore hoti hain. So it's finalized you are joining office, starting today. Maan aap in ko apni secretary kyun nahin rakh laite."
Maan and Geet tried their level best to reason with Nayantara. But Nayantara was stuck at one point. She was eager to send Geet to office. They tried and failed. And eventually gave up. It was then finalized that Geet is joining the office starting today as Maan's personal secretary.
The End!
