Chapter 3
Untouched Yaadain:
Part 3:
The next day Anjali got up at 9 AM sharp. She got dressed in a simple orange shalwar suit. She wanted to look good enough for him to trust her. She couldn't thank enough to her Kismat that today is Sunday meaning no classes. She left the university to go to the hospital.
"Aaj kuch bhi ker ke, Maan Singh Khurana ko yeh ehsaas dilana parhay ga ke main unki aik friend hoon. Per kaisay?"
She kept on thinking and suddenly an idea hit her. "Ab bas yehi aik raasta bacha hai." She went to the hospital and went up to his room. In her hands, she held a small gift and some fruits for him. She was hell scared. But she has to take this risk. She gulped once and turned the knob.
Before she could completely turn the knob, Somebody opened the door before she could. The same man came out in black trousers and shirt. He looks more angry as before. He looks hostile. Anjali's fear increased rapidly. For one second she felt like running away. But those questions were still hunting her. They kept on arousing in her mind. 'Be Brave', she kept on telling herself.
"Hi!" She said all cheerfully.
Maan looked at her. She was provoking him.
"Koun ho tum?" He growled at her which made the people around them turn their heads to enjoy the whole scene.
"Aray yahan pe sari baatay kero gay. Tum bhi na." Anjali pushes him aside to go in. She didn't wanna create any drama for the audience to enjoy. Maan shuts the door loudly which makes Anjali jump. There was some light showering in that room. Enough light for her to see the anger forming in his eyes.
"Koun ho tum aur kya chahti ho?"
Anjali gulped.
"Aap ne mujhay pehchana nahin? Aray main Anjali hoon, your childhood friend. Sach main Maan tum bhot badal gaye ho. Apni dost ko nahin pehchana?"
Anjali wiped off the sweat forming on her forehead. Maybe he will believe her. She smiled and tried to stay calm, trying not to show how fearful she is at that moment. As for Maan, he tried remembering his childhood friends. He doesn't remember much about his childhood. But he could still recall some of the memories. Him and a girl playing tag in a very beautiful garden. All sorts of flowers surrounding them. She was his best friend. And that girl's name happens to be Anjali too. What a coincidence?
"Anjali, Is this really you?"
Anjali couldn't believe her ears. He finally believes me. Phew. She let out a sigh of relief.
"Of course. Uff Maan tum yahan kya ker rahay ho? Seriously! Main America kya chali gayi, tum ne yeh halat bana di. Aur please lights to on kero."
Thanks to her little internet research she did this morning about Maan Singh Khurana. Maan turned on the lights. The room turned very bright. As if though the room was burning. All sorts of lights were present in the room; red, green, blue, pink, yellow and what not. Every wall was covered with pictures of a couple. Both smiling at the camera. The girl, wearing all sorts of colors dresses. Mainly Shalwar suit or Saree. In big letters, Geet, was written on the wall. In the corner, there were red roses scattered all over. In the middle of the room, a small bed (room for only one) and a side table was placed. The bed sheet was all over the place, as if he was sleeping like an animal before she came in. On the side table a picture of a young woman looking at the camera all cheerfully. Her eyes sparkling. Wearing blue shalwar suit. Her long brown hair in braids. She looked so beautiful. Any man could have fallen for her. As a girl, it was hard for Anjali to take off her eyes, what would have happened to all those men? This room witnesses Maan's condition. This is the girl whom he loved so dearly, she assumed.
