Chapter 1

Ok I have been wanting to write this ever since the airport scene.. but somehow I didn't. but now the latest promo is out I just can't not write it..it is 4.30 am and i just couldn't sleep! ah i have to wake up within another 2hrs as i have lectures full day tomorrow!!:s

Purple is the present
Ash is the past - on that fateful day when they parted at the airport..

Khushiii!! NOOO!! Khushiii!! He screamed! Seeing her being thrown out from the side opened door of the car just ahead of him.

She fell on the road, and like a rug doll tumbled on and on and finally fell down the edge of the road, his legs obeyed an unknown command as they pressed on the brake pedal while his horrified eyes followed her descent, falling from one rock to another, tumbling all the way down and out of his sight.

"KHUSHIII!!"

He jumped from the jeep and ran, ran like crazy to the edge of the road, where the steeply depths had taken his Khushi. He didn't wait even for a second as he started scrambling down the rocks, further and further down towards her..searching for the petite figure clad in her blue dress.

He half slipped, half stumbled down one rock surface after another until he saw a glimpse of blue directly below him sticking out among some shrubbery. He simply let himself slip all the way downswards, to get to her as fast as possible..he didn't notice the scratches or the hard rocks..his gaze was fixed on the still figure laying below him.

Finally he landed beside her on all fours. And he scrambled to her, pulling her out of the thorny shrub she had gotten entangled in. as he turned her over, his heart stopped beating for a second seeing her pale porcelain face a gruesome mask of crimson.

"kh..khu..shi" he rasped.

She lay still.. he dragged her to his strong arms as he continued to whisper her name as if in a trance. She still lay stone still.

He cradled her to his heart as he screamed her name again n again, while his tears fell on her closed eyes. She fluttered her eyes open with a herculean effort as she heard his broken sobs. And whispered,

"Ar'Arnavji"

He felt his breath stop for the second time within seconds as he heard that sweet voice' he raised his head staring at her face with hope as he dared to believe that he actually heard her voice..

"Khushi'" he rasped.

"khushi..u r ok.." he muttered more to himself as she tried to take a labored breath, and she almost closed her eyes again.

He cried out, "Khushi!! Please open ur eyes khushi.. I won't let u go. Khushi I can't bear this"

"Arnavji, please believe me Arnavji..please listen to my words..if u think like that about me I'll never be able to bear it."

"Arn..nav ji.." she whispered again, fighting against her need to close her eyes and go to sleep.

"u? u won't be able to bear it? It is me who can't bear it!"

"I .." she took another labored breath, "want to sleep"

"whatever u wanted to tell, u already did, it is time for my flight"

"No khushi.. just please keep ur eyes open. Please khushi.. u can't do this to me khushi..u can't go to sleep..please khushi'it is for just a little while till I get u to the hospital..please khushi..."

"please give me one last time to prove the truth..one last chance..please...Arnavji I didn't do any such thing that would make u think like that about me. Or because of which u r giving me such a huge punishment"

"j..just..till th then?" she whispered back.

"10 minutes.. u have exactly 10 minutes to prove urself.. after that I'll be gone"

He picked her in his arms and started standing, She tried to hold his vest in her almost lifeless fingers.. he held her closer to his body molding her against his body as he looked about searching for the best way to take her up. As he started scrambling up trying his best to hold her still against his chest he looked down to see her eyes closing..

The throng of people rushing towards the entrance jostled her petite body. And he walked to her and placing both his arms around her sheltered her fragile body from being pushed around while she stared at him with those tear filled opulent eyes.

"khushi..u just told me.." he almost shook her to stop her from closing her eyes.

"di told me u why u r leaving today. If u stayed back.."

"I am t..tired..arnavji.." she whispered back.

"u have only 3 minutes left"

Khushi felt the darkness surrounding her weight down on her as the seconds ticked away..

'this is the last call for the flight no 305 to all passengers to London'

"I can't..I want t..to..sl.." she broke off as her words got stumbled.

"it is the final announcement for my flight"

"Khushi please, khushi just..just a few more minutes.. I promise..just only a few more minutes. And please khushi keep talking to me..answer me back so u won't fall asleep" as he cradled her more to him and he dropped a soft kiss on her blood drenched forehead as his tears continued to fall...

"just a little bit longer.. just'" she grasped him in both her petite hands...hanging to him as tears welled in those beautiful doe eyes once again..

He was nearing halfway up the rocks..when she whispered, "I can't..not any m..more'"

"your 10 minutes are over khushi" he said harshly, as she stared with those big eyes that pleaded with him to stop.

"I am too tired.." she again closed her eyes to stop fighting the darkness that was taking over everything..

"for one last time u asked something of me and I gave it. I have got to go now" he said in a clipped tone.

"just one more minute..khushi..just I promise..please answer back to me..just one more minute. Please answer me. Tell anything u want..just answer back." He pleaded..

"one minute..just one minute" she pleaded.

"so..sorry" she muttered as her eyes closed..she so wanted to do as he asked..but..

"stop it khushi stop it" he lashed at her. "stop it now! I know no one is coming. I stayed back only because..somewhere even I wanted u to prove ur innocence. There was one hope that may be u were not at fault. But I was the one who was wrong. But even this last moment also u used with the exact amount of responsibility and love as u did with every other one of ur faults"

"No KHUSHIII" his scream reverberated and slightly penetrated the darkness.. she again forced her tired lids to open halfway just for a second before they closed again..

"enough khushi.. not anymore.. I am going khushi. At least now tell the truth, no one was going to come right?"

"Khushi!! Just for me..can u do this for me? Khushi.." he begged her..breathless himself from the steep climb..

"see khushi..we are almost at the top..just a little more n then u can sleep. I promise u"

"please believe me Arnavji. I'" her tear choked words begged him.

She sighed, too tired to force her lids open anymore.. trying to open her eyes to say that she believed him..but she was too tired..her lips refused to corporate with her...

"you? Yah right! U must have once again made some stupid plan to mislead me. I don't know why I once again fell for ur words"

"Khushi..don't u believe me khushi..i promised u.. I won't break my promise khushi..please open ur eyes..n tell me something..anything..call me laad governor..swami..anything..just talk to me khushi..i don't want anything else.. "

"nahi arnavji. I never made falsehoods to make u stop. I had no other aim except to' I just wanted to tell u the truth. I wished u would believe in me" she tumbled the words out with that heartbroken expression on her face.

Khushi was almost drifting in to the darkness that held her immobile, and unable to respond to her Arnavji's requests..but he shouted again,

"Khushi"

He couldn't take it anymore and he just turned and left, only to have her hold his shoulder.

"see I told u we'll be at the top in a bit..we are there now..just open ur eyes.."

"please don't go. U'll have to listen to the truth!"

Her eyes remained closed as she tried to draw another labored breath.

He threw away her arm away from his shoulder,

She so wanted to open her eyes and call him her laad governor, but her tongue was too woozy as if it was not a part of her..she kept drifting away..

She wanted to ask him why she had to open her eyes..wanted to ask why it mattered if she went away with the darkness instead of staying awake. but she no longer had any strength left..

"why?" he mocked her, "why khushi? Why is all this so important for u? why do u want to make me believe ur words? Why do all this make a difference to u?"

"Khushi..please u have to know I won't ask u to open ur eyes if it wasn't important..please khushi just stay with me please..KHUSHIII" he laid her down on the roadside as he looked around for any form of transport as all vehicles, the jeeps and the car all 3 had vanished. He felt as if screaming in frustration..wanting to find some way to get khushi to the hospital immediately..he felt a lump in his throat as he looked at her still figure, only her labored breath showing him that she was in his world..

"why?" she asked in incredulity mixed in her pained expression, "why it makes a difference? Because the matter is it is with u! that is why it matters! If it was with someone else it wouldn't have mattered, and if u were to go away like that.." she broke in between a strangled sob as she continued,

Her breathing was getting shallower by the second.. the rise and fall of her chest more feeble than the second before..he felt his breath constricting.. he whispered, "Khushi..my breath is stopping..khushi..please..stay.."

He gathered her up again in his arms and started sprinting down the lone road towards some unknown destination..the only aim to get help for his khushi..

She felt the words floating from afar..she so wanted to stay with him, in his strong arms..

"and if u were the one to go away like that.. I wouldn't be able to breathe" her tortured gaze begged him without words how much she wanted him to stay' he wanted to stay too.. he really did..

The darkness was too thick..too heavy..it was hard to hear his voice anymore..

'it is the last call for Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada. Pls report to the flight right away'

She was so tired, she decided to sleep for just a bit instead of trying to hold on to the whisper like voice that tried to call her back..

He turned away from the gaze that had held him entrapped.

Arnav felt her breath faltering as he clutched her as close as possible as he begged her to stay with him..

She held his hand in her own petite one, their hands like everything about them fitting so perfectly together.. "please don't go.." she begged again.

Her breath faltered as she gasped..trying to drag in some air..but it was too hard..she slowly stopped struggling to breath in anymore as the darkness beckoned her closer.

He stared at her eyes as he held her hand in his other hand and pried it away from his, as her gaze lowered to look at their parting hands.. her fingers searching..searching one last time for that warmth n security which his large brown hand enclosed her with. She tried to cling on one last time.. but he was stronger..he pulled away.

Arnav stared at her faltering breath and he leaned in and closed her mouth with his, as he tried to breath for her, trying to keep her with him..praying for her to take his breath..

He left her and moved a step back as her outstretched arm remained for him to take, if he wanted.

She didn't respond..she simply lay still in his arms, her numb limbs falling lifeless. He felt her slowly going away from him,

He stared at her blood stained face as he whispered scared, "khushi u r not leaving me are u?"

And then she finally realized what was happening and asked brokenly,

"are u truly going"

She remained still..no longer even trying..

"yes I truly am leaving khushi. I stayed back khushi. As u requested I even gave u one last chance. Now I am done' "

She was almost gone..despite his desperate begging..

"goodbye.." he said with finality as she tried to beg one last time for him to stay.

He shook her, kissed her, begged her, wept holding her in his arms as finally the rise and fall of her chest ceased..

"khushiii'just once khushi..just once..please Khushi not after we came so close to each other.." he was on his knees cradling her to him..

"not after we are actually together..no khushi.."

She ran after him, "after all this I wouldn't let u go" she called after him. But she was stopped from reaching him once she came to the glass barrier and security guards held her and pushed her back.. saying she cannot continue the journey further with him.

She was no longer with him as she embraced the darkness..no longer could she respond to him, for she was gone..she had walked away from him.. and every passing second she was taking one step after another..going further away..

"I love u Khushi.."

And he kept walking on, without a single backward glance despite knowing that she was hanging on to the glass parting, trying to stretch her hand to touch him..to touch him one last time..to hold him.. to stop him..he still walked on..knowing her eyes were pleading for him to stay back for her sake..one last time..knowing that she was breaking to pieces without him, he still walked..

He just walked knowing she waited for him, just beyond the glass parting..

One last whisper reached her before she went beyond no return point.. a whispered, "I love u Khushi"

Every step he took away from her one more memory came..one more step and one more memory of her..of them..every precious moment of their 11 months of togetherness flashed in front of his eyes.

Arnav hugged her limp body to his chest as he screamed at the heavens above! Alone on the deserted road he screamed and screamed..as he realized she was no longer with him..his khushi had gone far away from him..

And she broke down crying, no longer able to reach out to him..knowing it was futile..that he was gone..

And Khushi floated towards the two stars she always wanted to reach..she climbed on to the rainbow bridge that would take her to them..

He looked up at the sky above glimpsing the rainbow that had stretched across the clear blue sky.

And he left her stranded on no man's land as he walked on to his next destination.

As he cradled her to him, he made a wish on that rainbow as he whispered, "One last chance..please khushi'khushiii.."

And she looked up at the sky to capture the last glimpse of the aircraft that took him away..

Note: the rainbow is a real belief.. when a loved one who believed in these mythical things pass away, if at that time a rainbow smears across the skies it is believed that the loved one is starring down at u and smiling...
