Chapter 6

More tears fell from her eyes, this time more from the mess she was in.  She wished she had never met these two brothers ever.

One year earlier

She was still working as a trainee, and she had to carry a few documents to her boss.  That's when she had collided with a man.  She had never felt so stupid and awkward in her life.  However she had felt touched when that man helped her in picking her documents, and when she had stared in his eyes, she had almost gotten lost in them.  Feeling she was making too much a spectacle of herself, she had run away.

But after a few hours, upon her query, her colleagues had told her that the gentleman who had helped her was a cop, Arjun Rawte. 

She was only a trainee in that newspaper at that time, and Arjun and his colleagues had come for interview on that day. However from then on, she never noticed how many times Arjun used to come to the newspaper, and would always try at least to meet her.  The next time she saw him, she felt compelled to apologise, and again she was almost lost in the intense way he was looking at her.

Then Rohit had entered into her life. She was busy covering a story with a friend, when she had met Rohit. Rohit was a charmer.  He had entered her life like a cyclone, and soon they were going out almost every day. After some weeks, Rohit had proposed to her, and given she was completely enchanted by Rohit, she had accepted. That was when Rohit had brought her to introduce her to his elder brother, who turned out to be Arjun Rawte.

She had felt great tension between the brothers at that time, but when she asked Rohit, Rohit had just evaded the whole topic.  As time passed, Arjun was no longer the gentleman she had met, he would look at her coldly and would always be angry whenever she met him. She had almost felt afraid of him at times.  She always felt as if Arjun didn't want her to marry Rohit, she felt inadequate in her own way. 

As the marriage got closer, she pushed all her doubts aside, and concentrated only on her wedding. She wouldn't give Arjun any thought, as long as Rohit loved her, she was fine.

But everything had fallen apart. Rohit never came for the wedding...

 

Now that she thought about it, she pondered whether Rohit had really loved her. He would charm her, gave her gifts and all, but he never tried to get closer than that to her. She thought he was giving her great respect, but now she realised that maybe, he didn't really want her. 

While Arjun had reverted back to the charming gentleman since Rohit ditched her.

Just what was wrong with those brothers? Both were playing her for fools.

She felt she needed some air also. So she dressed up, and also left the house.  She didn't know where she'd go, but she got in her car and started to drive.

After many hours, she found herself infront of her mother's house.  It was almost midnight, but she needed to talk to get pass her confusion. So she got out and went to knock on the door.

She had thought her mother would be shocked on seeing her, but instead her mother looked very stressed when the door was opened.

"Where the hell were you Sakshi?" her mother shouted at her.

"Do you have any idea how many times Arjun have called here asking for you! and you didn't even take your mobile!" her mother was very angry with her.

Sakshi just burst into tears at everything, and crashed into her mother's arms.

Her mother's anger immediately gave way to fear.

"Did something happen? Kya hua? why are you crying? why did you leave Arjun?" her mother started to ask.

Her mother led her to the sofa, and made her sit on it and waited.

"Mama, Arjun loves someone.  I forced him into marrying me!" Sakshi told her mother.

Sakshi had expected a lot of things from her mother, sadness and even anger, but when her mother burst into laughter, she was confused.

"Sakshi, do you really think he loves someone else? Has he said anything to you?" her mother asked.

Sakshi replayed all his words, and well Arjun did say he was in love, but never said who the girl was.

"Mama, I heard him saying to someone of the phone that he still loves her!" Sakshi replied back.

"And you assumed he loved someone else, right?" her mother asked.

Sakshi's mother stared at her daughter not knowing what to say.  She knew Arjun loved her daughter a lot, infact he had already confessed to her the day he said he'd marry Sakshi.  But it wasn't her job to confess this to Sakshi.  Her daughter had suffered a lot, but Arjun was just right for her also.  But this difficulty had to be surmounted by Sakshi herself. 

"Does it hurt you thinking he loves someone else?" her mother probed more.

"And besides he has married you now! His past will only be his past! It's either your choice whether you want to break your marriage at an assumption or you want to make him fall for you!" her mother advised her.

"And Sakshi, you also have a past! Will you leave Arjun, if right now Rohit comes back and asked you to forgive him and marry him?" her mother added.

Sakshi's mother felt she did all she could to guide her daughter the right way. She hoped her daughter had fallen for Arjun already.

"It's already too late, go and sleep now," her mother said and led her to her room, and then left Sakshi alone to look for answers.

As soon as Sakshi's mum closed the door, she took out her mobile and called Arjun, reassuring him that Sakshi was safe.

"Give her some time, and I guess you should tell her how much you love her yourself," she said before disconnecting the call.

She looked at the closed door, behind which she had left her daughter, and prayed to god to make things better between her and Arjun.
