A Twist of Events Ch. 23B

"Chote where are you going?" his nani called out to him. He sighed in irritation. He just wanted to leave this place and start looking for Khushi.

"I...Im going to Lucknow nani"

"Why?"

"Because...I...I wanna find Khushi" he said solemnly. Nani smiled as tears welled up in her eyes, she walked up to Arnav and touched his chin lovingly,

"Go...go chote...find her...find your wife"

"nani...I don't know if she'll ever return...after...after everything I've done" he said with a tinge of sadness seeping out from his voice, being the only evidence of his inner turmoil.

Nani looked down in thought,

"I know...chote we've all treated her very badly...and for that you must get her to return home"

"Nani..you want her here to be a mother, to be a wife, to be the daughter in law of the house, you want her here out of duty...I..I want her here because I can't live without her nani..I...I love her"

Nani smiled sadly, "that's what I wanted at first...but today...seeing Shyam and that paternity test...I..I realize the true nature of Shyam..and I...Im just angry at myself that I didn't see it before" she said sadly

"Nani when I return back with Khushi...Im kicking that man out of this house"

"Chote you know I would want that but...Anjali bitiya ..she would never allow for it... she has such strong faith in her husband...even...after seeing what she did today. Nothing will make her see his true colors" she said softly.

" I don't care. Di needs to grow up and not be so selfish" he said angrily, "Alright nani..i have to leave now...I wont be back for a while"

"Why are you taking Shaila bitiya with you? How is she going to help you in your search? I think it would be safer if she stayed here"

Arnav looked at his sleepy daughter who rested against his shoulder, and then back at nani,

"Im not leaving her anywhere near that bas-...I mean Shyam...Im not letting him get within 10 ft of her".

Nani nodded in understanding,

"Nani...you have to protect Amana...shes not safe with that man lurking around" he said seriously. Nani nodded once again and set a hand on his shoulder and left. He smiled and made his way towards the door.

Just as he was about to step out of the threshold, he heard someone call out for him,

"Arnavji!" he heard Payal yell as she ran her way downstairs,

"WHAT?!" he snapped unintentionally. He was just so annoyed of all these interruptions. But as soon as he saw Payals hurt, surprised face, he immediately felt terrible. He took in a deep breath and apologized sincerely.

"Yea Payal? Whats the matter?" he asked after he apologized. She looked at Shaila and then back at Arnav.

"Uhmm...Arnavji...I don't think you should take Shaila with you"

"Payal I can't leave her here in this house with that man"

"Yea I know that...but I was thinking...I mean your going to go look for Khushi. You have no idea where she is or what is kind of trouble she's in. How are you going to take care of Shaila while your going to be so caught up in finding Khushi."

Arnav thought about her words...she...was right he thought. What would he do with Shaila while he was looking for Khushi? And he knew that Khushi was in some trouble and he really didn't want to involve Shaila in that...But Shyam was here. He possibly couldn't leave Shaila alone in his presence. Arnav was torn.

"But Pa-" he was soon interrupted by a very composed looking Payal.

"Arnavji...me, Akash, and our kids we can go stay somewhere else and take Shaila with us. She wont have to be in the presence of Shyam...and Ill take care of her...she'll be with Akhil and Suhana so she wont be too lonely"

Arnav thought over her proposition...it did seem like a good idea actually. But Shaila was not very open around strangers. Leaving her with Payal and Akash might scare her. And he didn't even know how long he was going to be away. Before he could say anything, Payal had beat him to it,

"I know Shailas behavior...shes very reserved when it comes to anyone other than her own parents or children...and she won't be very comfortable with me and Akash...but her discomfort is much safer than putting her life in danger"

Unfortunately Payal was right Arnav knew. But...how was he going to live without this little princess now? These few days with her had made him forget life without her.

Payal saw his inner turmoil, and his inability to give up Shaila even though he knew it was the right thing. She gently tore the now sleeping Shaila from his arms and held her.

"Arnavji...you have to go...you have to find Khushi...well be in AR Apartments...in Akashes suite. You can call us anytime..and don't worry we'll take care of Shaila. She's like my own daughter...please don't worry...Now you must go." She said softly.

An upset and confused Arnav nodded,

"Payal please try to leave as soon as possible"

"I'll start packing right now...we'll leave when Akash gets home from work"

Arnav nodded and kissed his little daughter, and half heartedly left the Raizada Mansion.
