Part 1

Sameer is studying at Cambridge University in London. There is an inter-collegiate match. Sameer's college needed four runs in the last ball. All the hopes were on him. Sameer is nervous. He then remembers Arnav's words. "When you are in a dilemma, listen to your heart. If your heart does not have an answer, close your eyes."

Sameer closes his eyes & opens it. The bowler bowls the ball. Sameer hits the ball hard. The fielder is chasing the ball. He almost catches it, but the ball crosses the rope. The umpire declares it as "six."

All his teammates hug him. Sameer wins the Man of the Match award. He goes to the room & packs his bag. His friends ask him, "Where are you going?"

Sameer: I am going to meet my girlfriends in Ahmedabad.

Rohan: Who are they?

Sameer: My grand-mothers.

He goes to Ahmedabad. Nani is crying. Dadi goes to her. She said, "What is the matter?"

Nani: I miss Arnav a lot. 

Dadi: Even I miss him.

Nani: What will I tell Sameer if he asks about Arnav? I don't even know where to start. He does not know that Bobby had adopted him & treated him as his son. Bobby gave so much love to Arnav that he never felt like an orphan. But today, no one is even allowed to talk about him.

Sameer enters the house. He sees the house & the pics. He then goes to Arnav's room and sees his childhood pic with him. Sameer smiles.

He then sees his Dadi & Nani talking about Arnav.

Dadi & Nani see Sameer. They are thrilled. 

Nani: You have become very weak.

Sameer: No, I won the trophy for my school. 

Nani: If Arnav were there, he would have been delighted.

Sameer consoles them. 

Nani: After Bobby & Vishaka had adopted Arnav, he had won everyone's hearts in the house. After nine years, you were born. But their love for Arnav did not reduce. Arnav is the eldest son of this house. No one can change the fact. But, suddenly, when we talked about Arnav, that was our last Diwali.

The story begins with a flashback.

Flashback:

Vishaka & Bobby had been married 12 years back. But Vishaka was unable to conceive. One day, Bobby goes to Vishaka & says, "I have made a decision."

Vishaka: May I know what you have decided?

Bobby: I have decided to adopt a child.

Vishaka: That is excellent news.

Arnav was a little lad. He is an orphan & wants to study. But he does not have any support. He earns by cleaning the cars and polishing the shoes to fend for himself.

One day, Bobby goes to Arnav to get his shoes polished. Arnav polishes his boots. Bobby said, "Nice work. You are very much talented."

Arnav: Is there anything else I can do for you?

Bobby: What else would you want to do?

Arnav: Cleaning your car. I don't mind working as a servant in your house. 

Bobby: Actually, this is an age for you to study. Child labor is illegal. How many people are there at your place? 

Arnav: My parents died after I was born. Since then, I have been supporting myself to educate myself. I am staying in an orphanage.

Bobby feels bad. 

Bobby: If you don't mind, will you stay with us? I don't have any children. I will not keep you as a servant but as my son. You will have my name as your identity. From now on, you are not alone. We are with you. What is your name?

Arnav: My name is Arnav

Bobby: Nice name!

He takes Arnav to Maheshwari House. 

Bobby: Vishaka

Vishaka: Coming.

She comes in.

Bobby: Vishaka, he is Arnav. From now on, I accept him as my son. What is your opinion?

Vishaka: You have done a great thing. I have seen him sleeping in his shop at night many times. I felt terrible for him. It is a good thing that you have brought him here. 

Vishaka takes Arnav in. Bobby & Vishaka admit Arnav to the school in London. Vishaka does the puja.

Sameer eats the laddus one by one. Arnav is on his way to his place. He comes by helicopter.

Arnav comes back. Vishaka is happy. He touches Vishaka's feet. 

Vishaka hugs him & puts the tilak on his forehead.

Later, Arnav meets Aliya. 

Arnav: It is a great feeling that I am back.

Aliya: Yes, it is! Nothing like home. I sent you a lot of emails & faxes. But no response from you. How rude!

Arnav: MBA is not an easy subject. 

Aliya: Were you busy with other things? I mean with a girl.

Arnav: You know me very well. 

Aliya: I think who can waste your time other than me?

Arnav: Tell me one thing. Are you still the same, or is anyone interested in you?

Aliya blushes.

Sameer is watching cricket on TV. Each time the ball goes in the air, 

He says, "Out."

Dadi comes there. 

Dadi: Don't you want to get ready for school?

Arnav comes there with the bun. He offers it to Sameer, who tries to take it. Arnav takes his hand back.

Arnav: What is the score?

Sameer: Pakistan is 6 for 4. Isn't it great?

Arnav: Yes, it is.

Sameer: India will win.

Arnav: India is unpredictable.

Dadi: Pakistan always lost to India

One more wicket falls. Both are happy.

Dadi then goes to Sameer. She lifts his leg to tie him to the shoelace.

Dadi: Is this a leg or a trunk?

Arnav: If you keep tying the lace for him, when will he learn? Fatso!

Dadi: He will learn.

Vishaka comes in with a smile. She asks, "What is happening?"

Arnav: You have fed him so much & made him an elephant.

Vishaka laughs.

Sameer: Laugh & make more fun of me. When I go to boarding school, you will miss me. No one loves me.

Arnav: Mom loves me more than you.

Sameer to dadi: See how bro is teasing me.

Dadi: It is nothing like that. Mom loves both of you equally.

Arnav to Vishaka: I missed you a lot, Mom.

Vishaka: I missed you too. Promise me that you will not leave me again.

Arnav: One condition. You won't make me fat like him.

Bobby: Vishaka

Vishaka goes to Bobby.

Bobby: You forgot me when our eldest son came. Please help me with this tie.

Vishaka climbs up on the stool & helps him with the tie.

Bobby goes to the office by helicopter.

The Secretary shows the fax message from Malaysia.

Bobby: Cancel this engagement & fix an appointment with my son Arnav at 11 a.m

Arnav goes to Maheshwari Group.

Bobby shows him the cabin.

He said, "From now on, Maheshwari Group belongs to you. So cheers to that."

He then shows the photo of their grandfather.

Bobby: He was a great person. Thirty years back, he was in the same chamber. I still remember his words, which I will be telling you. He used to say that life has many ways, but you should choose the path in which you don't fall. It would help if you always chose the right direction. Anyone can earn money & become rich, but not everyone can earn respect. It would help if you did nothing that would hamper the family's reputation. You, too, should not forget it. Promise me that you will keep up with the family's tradition.

Khushi, Naina, & Sameer are playing outside.

Promise me that you won't let the family prestige go down.

At Agarwal's house, Khushi comes running.

Arnav: Dad, I promise you that I will always keep the family prestige high. I will always keep you happy.

Khushi runs towards her shop, where Naina & Sameer are there.

Khushi: Naina, we won. India has won. Virat Kohli has batted so well. He hammered all the bowlers left, right, and center.

Aditya comes there. He said, "One more good news for you."

Aditya: We got a massive order for sweets & garment finishing. Cheers to that, as well.

Beena comes there. She said, "Girls get ready. I have found a match for our son Arjun. We are going to see the girl."

Beena, Naresh, Anand, & Bela go to Shefali's place. Shefali & Khushi are close friends. Ratan is Shefali's mother. 

Ratan: Shefali is shy & quiet by nature. She is very homely.

Beena: That is great. 

Khushi is standing outside. She indicates that India won. Shefali understands the gesture & screams.

Arjun comes there. He gets mesmerized by Shefali's beauty. He said, "I like the girl & will marry her."

After the conversation, Beena drags Khushi & Naina. She said, "Now I will teach you such a lesson that you will never talk about cricket again."

Anand: Let them share the joy. Why do you interfere?

Beena: You & Bela have spoilt these girls. 

Naresh: Even if they talk about cricket, Arjun didn't mind. He plays cricket. He is playing for the Ranji trophy.

Beena: Not everyone is like Arjun. First of all, girls are a risk to manage. Anand spent a lot of money on these girls for their education. He could have made them study in a Municipal school. What is the need for them to make their identity?

Bela: Khushi is a fashion designer. She also teaches people how to cook. She is interested in Home Science & fashion design.

Beena: I am not worried about Khushi. She can get anybody. But who will marry Naina? She is just average-looking.

Bela: There is a man for every woman. Naina is beautiful. She has got her beauty & will get the guy who looks like Salman Khan.

Aliya is in love with Aditya, but Kamlesh does not want her to marry Adi as he does not have a class. Aditya decides to establish himself. He gets an opportunity to work abroad. She remembers her times with Aditya.

Aliya: I think it is better if we elope away & get married.

Aditya: Yes, but I don't have the resources to maintain you. I won't marry until I establish myself. Once I prove myself, I will sponsor your tickets & visa.

Aliya: Fine, but keep in touch.

Adi: You are my life. I can't think about leaving you. But you have got to be firm. If your dad insists you should go by his choice, respect him, but be firm in your stand.

Aliya: I will wait for you.

Arnav drops Aliya at her place after office hours.

Aliya: Everyone has said I look good except you. We are friends.

Arnav: Yes, you look good.

Aliya: Are you telling this from your heart?

Arnav: Of course, yes.

Arnav reaches home. 

Bobby is making Sameer study geography.

Arnav: Hi mom, hi dad, Hi dadi.

He threw a small piece of paper at Sameer & said, "Hi, fatty."

Sameer: See Dad.

Bobby: Arnav, stop it.

Arnav: What's going on?

Sameer: Dad has planned a surprise party.

Vishaka: Nothing remains in his stomach. He has to leak out everything.

Arnav: Because his stomach is always full. There is no place for new things.

Vishaka: How come you came so early today?

Arnav: I find society parties very dull. So I came off.

Vishaka: You do not inherit these qualities from your dad. He used to like these parties very much. Because they were pretty. Your dad used to be very happy.

Bobby: If I had not gone to the party, how would I have got a pretty girl like you?

Dadi: Don't forget. Your dad was impressed with Vishaka and chose her as the DIL of this house.
