I was staring at her brown, doe eyes which were reflecting nothing but deepened sorrow. However, I couldn't just stop defending my statement either. Whatever I was thinking that supposed to be understandable to her. Then why? Why was she bending to stick in the suspicion of her in dedication?
"Why are you so against this engagement? How many tests do you need to take? Why are you so stubbornly supporting Sundar? Do you think she will be happier with him just beacuse he is your long-termed friend?" I blurted out my thoughts, that I was having for long.
She didn't take off her eyes from me, rather looking at me constantly.
"It's not about Sundar anymore, neither it's about Arpita di. Uday as a human isn't good. You aren't believing the obvious. That's my problem." Her words made me frustrated.
What exactly are you talking about, Imlie?
"Listen Imlie, for the last time I'm-" Her right hand went inside my Sarwani's pocket; I felt that she put something in it.
"What did you-" I got interrupted with her eyes that reflected nothing; no spark, no joy nothing.
This is not good...
I felt my heart began to beat faster, anticipating something terrible. Her face was all cold.
"Please see it, if you want to." She said before turning.
"What are you doing?" I gulped my saliva looking at her halted figure.
She turned her face putting a smile, that I had never seen before and I never wished to see it too.
"I'm not a member of this family. Thus I have no reason to stay here anymore." Her response turned me numbed, dumbfounded.
She started walking away from me without turning back once. I stood still watching her going away from me, farther and farther in the hall full of dancing people in their own rhythm.
Moments passed when I gained my rational mind back. Searching in my pocket, I found a solid object touching my palm. Picking it out, I discovered a pendrive wrapped in a yellow piece of soft cloth.
°°°°°°
"Check the files and get me everything RIGHT NOW!" I cut the call immediately.
The rage in me was reaching its peak. Uday, a man who never respected his own parents; rejected them; insulted their dignity. How the hell didn't I see it before?
Because you stopped listening to her..
My conscience replied.
"Imlie.." I whispered; realisation hit me.
I need to reach you, Imlie. I put my phone and walked out from my study room. The email notification which I was waiting for had come along with commissioner Rudra's call.
°°°°°°°°
"Lalla, you are sending your Badi maa jail? Don't you have any shame?" Her raspy voice threw 'ghee' in my infuriating fire.
"Shame? The same thing that you didn't have while trying killing me and Imlie together in our wedding day? Well, no." Her eyes widened along with BD's.
"That's the conspiracy of that wicked wife of yours, Imlie. I could neve-"
"It's not her It's me, who found out everything. She just brought me the evidence against Uday. I was the one who digged the history further with you and Uday." I replied smilingly; fury was the only emotion I could feel at that time.
Her eyes were burning in fear and shock. BD was too stunned to speak.
"You bought Uday for our misfortune. Impressive! But guess what, I'm Aryan Singh Rathore. Misfortune needs to take my permission before coming near my family. How dare you to judge my wife!" I roared.
She lost her voice. Meanwhile BD started crying. Uday couldn't look at our faces at all.
"They will be punished according, Mr. Rathore. You don't worry." I heard Rudra's voice behind me; he was standing next to maa and didi.
"Take them." Rudra spoke aloud while walking past them.
"Never dare to show your shadows again." I reacted eying BD, Badi maa and Uday altogether.
It didn't take too long them to be kicked out from our mansion. The guests were gradually taking their leaves. I glanced at didi and maa, who were crying their eyes out in relief. I came near them. Putting my both palm on their shoulders, I kept walking towards our room.
°°°°°°
"Thanks to almighty for sending Imlie in our lives. She never gave up and fought till the end." Maa said keeping her head on my chest.
"Yes, maa. She is definitely the angel in disguise. Call my sister-in-law right now, Aru." Didi said while keeping her forehead on my shoulder.
"Yes. She needs to be here with us. By the way, I didn't see her during function too. Is she in the kitchen?" Maa's voice started creating possibilities in my mind.
"I'm not a member of this family. Thus I have no reason to stay here anymore."
I hope she's...'
"She must be in her room. Let me check." Seeing their nodding heads, I got up from the bed heading towards the exit door.
°°°°°°
As soon as I entered our room, I found it dead silent. There wasn't a single soul present there. I peeked here and there, looked into the washroom. I had already checked the other parts of our mansion.
"I'm not a member of this family. Thus I have no reason to stay here anymore."
"Don't tell me you.." Panic began to fill in my every fiber.
I ran to search our closest. Opening it, I found it almost half empty; my section was full. However, on her part, the cloths that I bought for her, were there only. Things which she brought with her, were missing.
"No...no no!" I got up from my place and ran at our garage. I put the phone on my ear.
"The number you have dialed is currently switched off. Please try later. Apk d-"
"Damn it, Imlie! Why did you.." I pressed the car keys.
I'm having a bad feeling.
°°°°°
"The picture that you have sent, is matching with the description the people have given from here. I'm sending you the location, Mr. Rathore." Other side of the phone spoke up.
"Okay. Thank you, Mr. Ray." I cut the call and the notification popped up on my phone instantly.
I hope you're there, Imlie. Please be there...please....
°°°°°
The location was from this area. She was seen here last time. However, it was quite far from our place. How did she get here so quickly?
Imile being Imlie indeed.
I parked the car near at sidewalk, before coming closer to the nearest crowd. The traffic signal was unusually gathered with people. In this hustle situation I asked the shopkeeper whom I found next to the crowd.
"No bhaiya. I didn't see this woman till now." He replied; I nodded my head melancholy.
I came out from his shop walking to the next shop.
"The lady is spot dead. The ambulance is coming faster. Tck! Such young age!" Those castomers talked among themselves.
A shiver ran in my spine. Accident? Dead? Without my noticing, my body began to move, deeper in the crowd. Sweat started forming on my face; nerves turned stiff.
Please don't be..please don't be...
A familiar yellow cloth caught my eyes, before my whole existence recognised the figure laying on the pool of her own blood. On that moment, my whole world crashed down drastically.
"IMLIE! NO!"
