Chapter 33- Married And Single
~*~3 YEARS LATER~*~
"Vedant baby, I know but I'm only here for a little bit."
"I miss you." Vedant whined. "Talk to me for a little while longer."
"I wish I could. But I have to go to a pooja at Vidya's house." Niharika groaned.
"Why? Another pooja?" He whined.
"Uh huh. It's the pooja before karwa chauth." Niharika said sweetly.
"That's today?!" Ishaan yelled from another room.
"Ishaan, stop listening to my phone calls!" Niharika yelled.
"I'm not. Suhani told me. I'm talking to her. And get this; she's been pigging out all morning!! And she just scratched me!"
"He kicked me first!!!" Suhani defended from his room.
"Stop acting like toddlers and start acting like you're married!" Niharika shouted.
"I don't know why I married him! I must've been drunk that day…" Suhani complained, coming out of the room.
"I don't know about that day, but that night it sure seemed like you were drunk." He grinned. Suhani looked at him angrily.
"You're an idiot! I've been hungry all day for you; I'm supposed to eat extra these days. Look at me, I look like a balloon. This is all your fault." She cried.
"Aw, I didn't mean to hurt you. You're beautiful no matter what. I thought you were serious when you said you were eating all day, I'm sorry." He held his ears.
"It's okay….I'm so hungry." She whined. "I want Salt and Vinegar chips."
"You hate those. And you're supposed to not eat. It's okay if you do. I'm not dying any time soon." He said, sympathetically.
"You better not. I look terrible in white." Suhani said, fighting temptation against those potato chips, which sat on the counter.
"I was expecting I won't be able to live without you but yes, you look bad in white too." Ishaan said, sighing. Suhani finally decided to leave the room to fight temptation. Ishaan looked at her in a dreamy daze, "Isn't she beautiful….?" He muttered. Niharika
rolled her eyes at him.
"She's ginourmous, and mean. But yes, she's beautiful. Makes me doubt how she ended up with you."
Ishaan laughed sarcastically, and left after his wife.
"Okay, well that was my dumb brother and my best friend, who's now his wife."
"I gotta go now…" Vedant sighed disappointed.
"Bye, I love you."
"I love you too jaan. Bye." Vedant said. Niharika kissed the phone and hung up.
"Hani! Get ready, we have to be at Vidya's in an hour."
"My dumb husband won't get off of me!!!" Suhani yelled
from Ishaan's room.
"Too much information, Hans. That's your personal issue. Get ready, we have to go." Niharika wore a blue langha with silver work on it. Suhani wore a red langha with gold embroidery. Ishaan wore a black sherwani with gold work on it. They soon arrived at Vidya's.
"Viddi!!!" Niharika shouted. She went and hugged Vidya quickly.
"Hi Nihu. You look pretty."
"Thank you. As do you." She stepped back, looking at Vidya. She wore her hair down, with a purple salwar-kameez that was elaborately embroidered with blue and pink.
"We're like the only girls not wearing red." Vidya complained.
"We're like the only single girls here." Niharika laughed. Vidya laughed. Sagar came in wearing a blue sherwani with purple embroidery on it.
"Must you match with me?" Vidya rolled her eyes.
"No, but people need to know that you're taken." Sagar grimaced.
"I'm not taken. I'm single and available as anything…" Vidya said, turning her back to him. He ran his hands across her back, playing with the strings.
"C'mon Vidya…I said I was sorry this morning." He ran his thumb tracing the strings, silently convincing himself not to tug at those thin laces.
"I don't know what you're talking about it." She replied indignantly, walking to the door, awaiting Mahi.
