Chapter 5
Adi hung up the phone and walked towards Arushi, who looked around for a place to hide.
Adi: so what's your answer?
Arushi: my answer for what?
Adi: the lunch date Arushi!!!
Arushi: Adi all last night that's what I've been thinking about. Should I say yes or no? Now I came to a decision
Adi: which is?
Arushi links her arm in Adi's and says yes.
Adi: what?
Arushi: ya well I already said yes last night, but I wasn't sure if I would do it or not, and now I can't stop myself. Anyway where are we going for that lunch date?
Adi still can't believe that Arushi honestly said yes.
Arushi: Adi hello? Anyone in there? (She knocks on his head)
Adi: uhhh what?
Arushi: where are we going?
Adi: umm how about…The Mexican Rainforest?
Arushi: (licks her lips) yummy Mexican!
Adi: I take it, I picked a good restaurant?
Arushi: Ya let's go. (They walked out of the store) Wait I feel bad. Raj is there in pain and we're going on a date?
Adi: Aru, can I tell you a secret?
Arushi: sure…
Adi: Raj isn't even that hurt, he just wanted to know what Maya would do if he did actually get hurt?
Arushi: omg, so they're both playing each other?
Adi: ya basically…
Arushi and Adi make their way to the balcony of the restaurant. A hostess seats them and tells them their waitress will be along in a second. When their waitress comes, Arushi and Adi both order their meals and drinks. Arushi notices that Adi hasn't ordered alcohol for himself.
Arushi: do you drink?
Adi: no but why? Does it make any difference?
Arushi: no of course not! I just didn't want another scene like last night.
They both think back to Vinit being completely drunk, and they both laugh.
Adi: so what do you like doing in your spare time?
Arushi: is this your typical date conversation?
Adi: do you always answer a question with another question?
Arushi: what do you think?
Adi: I think you do, now let's stop!!!
Arushi laughs: in my spare time I love reading and spending time with my friends.
Adi: friends include Maya yes?
Arushi: yes why?
Adi: no just wanted to make sure.
Arushi: anyway what about you?
Adi: I like reading, cooking, and listening to music.
Right at that moment Adi's cell phone rings and it's Maya
Adi: Hey, how's Raj?
Maya: Raj is fine, he faked the whole thing!!!
Adi: what? But you slammed the door on his finger!
Maya: ya, but he was faking all the pain, and the blood just came out because he had a spare ketchup packet in his hand that he squirted all over his finger.
Adi: what a liar!!! So are you both even now, since you lied too?
Maya: even? I…………..uhhh…give it to Arushi….
Adi just gives the phone to Arushi without fighting with Maya.
Maya narrates everything she told Adi to Arushi, who bursts out laughing.
Maya: Aru!!! Help na, what do I do?
Arushi: 1st of all, stop saying "na", you know I hate it, and 2nd of all, just forgive him you tortured him too, so he got you back!
Maya: I know, but still mine wasn't serious, it didn't involve him crying!
Arushi: You cried?
Maya: kinda…
Arushi: Maya he didn't get his finger cut off; it was just a little boo-boo!
Maya: shut up Aru!! But now what do I do?
Arushi: where are you?
Maya: I uhhh ran away from him, when I found out he faked it and now I'm sitting in the park by the hospital.
Suddenly a shadow comes up behind Maya and puts a hand over her mouth.
Maya: (muffled) Help!!
Arushi quickly gives the phone back to Adi, and Adi tries to figure what Maya is trying t say be then he notices that he has one new text message from Raj that says, "Don't worry abt Maya, I'm with her!"
Arushi is sitting there freaking out, while Adi is as cool as a cucumber.
Arushi: why are you so calm? Something's happened to Maya!!
Adi: Whatever happened isn't that serious, so just calm down! And enjoy your lunch date.
Finally about 20 minutes into the lunch, Maya calls Arushi on her cell.
Arushi: OMG Maya!! Are you okay?
Maya: yes, I'm fine. It was another one of his stupid pranks…oh oww oww oww (Raj had grabbed Maya's left arm and had twisted it behind her back) ok ok, sorry, it was another one of his genius pranks!
Raj: (in the background) Thank- you, Thank-you very much!
Arushi laughs: ok well I'm happy to know that you're okay…. I (Adi grabs the phone from Arushi)
Adi: Maya stop disturbing my date; go find one of your own!!
Maya: date?
By then Adi already hung up on her.
Arushi: Adi you could have let her talk, I mean...
Adi: I could have, but I listen to her insane chatter every single day, I can't take it anymore!!
Arushi: how mean!
The waitress comes to their table
Waitress: any dessert?
Before Adi can say anything, Arushi politely declines to the waitress.
Adi: you don't want anything for dessert?
Arushi: no I've got to get back to the office
Adi: you work at a magazine right?
Arushi: ya, I used to be the editor and then I umm got demoted.
Adi: oh that sucks!!
Arushi: ya but actually I got fired, and that guy Vinit who I was with last night, he's the one who basically saved my job.
Adi: oh ok now it actually makes sense why you were with that weird guy.
Arushi: Adi, he's not actually that weird, he's a really nice person….
Adi: Ya right
Arushi: ok well ya he is kinda weird but still, he's somehow a good human being
Adi: only because he got your job back?
Arushi: partially…. I mean
Adi: it's ok, as long as you don't like him in that way.
Arushi: ewwww that way?? Never!!
Adi laughs: ok let's go. I can drop you off at your office
Arushi: sure thanx.
They both leave the restaurant and get in the car.
Adi: so where's your office?
Arushi: Turani Towers on 5th Avenue.
Adi: ok
Arushi: can I ask you a question?
Adi: maybe, it depends…
Arushi: do you have a girlfriend?
Adi: why do you want to know?
Arushi: no I'm just saying if there's a girl you like then maybe I can help you get her…
Adi: there is one girl….
Arushi: (thinks) WHAT??? He likes someone? Maybe I shouldn't have even asked…
Adi: so can you help me with her?
Arushi: Adi, my building's here…I'll talk to you about all this later. Okay?
Adi: ya sure, have a good afternoon at work! And Arushi thanks for saying yes for the lunch date.
Arushi: it's ok Adi. Bye
She slams his door really really hard! After Arushi gets in the building, she heads straight into the lobby washroom. For some strange reason there was a weird stinging sensation in her eyes. She brushes it away and takes out her cell phone to call Maya. She picks up on the fourth ring.
