Chapter 4

The morning light hits the man lying in the bed. He lightly groaned as his dreams were broken. He shifted and opened his eyes at the weight on his chest. Zaib smiled as he remembered last night...so full of love and passion but then his smile disappeared as he remembered the reason Soneya had left him. His thoughts were interrupted as she moved slightly. The feeling of something soft yet hard made her open her eyes. She looked at the cream skin and moved her eyes up as a face came in her vision....a smirk on his lips and an arrogant look in his eyes. She blushed as last night came into her mind...and turned even redder as his hand rested on her waist pulling her even closer to him. She could feel every part of his body pressed against hers. She sat up...pulling a blanket with her...covering herself she got up. As she went to walk to the bathroom...she was pulled back by Zaib. A scream left her lips as she fell into his lap. She turned to look at him and saw the old Zaib back...arrogant and full of himself. She shook her head at his smirk and playfulness.

S- Zaib let me go i have to get ready.

Z- No we still have to talk about something

S- about what??

Z- about ur insecurity

S- im over it now I know that ur mine n will never leave me

She smiled and kissed his cheek. She got up and left to freshen up. She went to make breakfast as Zaib got ready. The family members smirked at her as she lowered her gaze to the floor and went inside the kitchen. Gauri followed her and watched as she started preparing for breakfast. Soneya turned around and saw Gauri standing there smiling at her softly. She looked at Gauri questioningly. Gauri came forward and touched a mark on Soneya's neck...a love bite. Gauri raised her eyebrow with a naughty grin. Soneya blushed and hugged her with a happy smile. They both giggled as they looked at each other.

G- im so happy today

S- what's so special about today di?

G- for the first time in the past 2 months im seeing you happy not just a fake happy but a real happiness

S- didi aaj mera har ik daar gayab ho gaya hai i used to think that Zaib would leave me like my biological parents did...i was so scared about that so i left zaib my zaib alone without an explanation...i hurt him di now i want to make him happy and will do anything to keep his happiness intact

As she spoke to her bhabhi...her sister, the whole family entered the kitchen to see what the hold up was. There they saw their two bahus talking to each other happily. They heard Soneya tell Gauri everything.

S- i know i should've trusted him...and i do but once ur hurt that feeling doesn't leave you alone for a while...im scared di really scared

G- about what soneya

S- what if i hurt him again? what if maine usko phir se dard dia toh? the possibility of what if haunts me di haunts my dreams and my awake moments its always in the corner of my mind that bloody what if!

Tears stared falling down her cheeks as she let her inner fear out. She gasped as she felt arms around her waist. She turned and saw Zaib looking at her with a gaze full of undying love and passion. She looked down unable to meet his intense gaze. As this was going on, Gauri took everyone out of the kitchen.

Zaib lifted her chin forcing her to look into his eyes. He wiped her tears and pulled her close to him...letting her know he was there with her...he would never let her out of his sight for rest of their life now that their misunderstanding was gone.

Z- if you hurt me...you'll heal me the next minute [kissed her cheeks]

S- if i hurt you...i'll kill myself [kissed his cheek]

Z- if you kill yourself...i'll die next to you [kissing her lips]

S- if you die...i'll bring you back to life...and kill you myself...and join you [kissing him]

Shiv- if you both don't stop i'll die from hunger :]

They turned and saw him standing at the door with a big grin. Then Gauri came and pulled his ear making him wince in pain. They laughed as he caught her and started whispering in her ear...something naughty as her cheeks turned dark red. She hit him and hugged him laughing. Zaib and Soneya looked at each other and smiled happily. Gauri and Soneya kicked the guys out and started working...which was really hard as they came back and started flirting with them.

Finally somehow the girls managed to make breakfast and served it. The whole family was laughing and having fun as they should. Soneya stood and watched as Shiv and Zaib playfully fought with their spoons. She got lost in her thoughts as she thought about how wonderful life was...her love was with her, her family happy, and she was finally after many years letting her fears go.

The scene fades away and a new scene comes up.

Soneya is shown with her hands on her hips...eyebrow raised...lips pursed tightly. She looked older by couple of years but still looked beautiful and young. The people she's glaring at are shown...Zaib, a boy and a girl of three years. The boy looked exactly like Zaib...same hair...eyes...and the same pout. The girl looked like Soneya...every feature exactly the same. And the three were dirty with mud. The three of them were pouting and holding their ears as Soneya glared at them. She sighed tiredly and shook her head.

S- im tired of this...the same thing every day. Zaib tum toh bacho ki tara behave mat karo, har waqt in dono ko help karte ho aur zada mazza karne mein.

Z- come on Sone their kids right Cia Vivek?

C/V- rite!!!!

S- you know what go do what you want i give up im tired of this!!!

She walks off with a hand resting on her stomach rubbing the big bump. The three left frowned unhappily. The kids looked at their daddy sadly...they knew that mommy was mad. Zaib sighed and wondered what to do. A big grin falls on his face as he got an idea. He goes and talks to his family about the plan. Everyone agrees and starts getting stuff ready. Zaib walks into his and Soneya's room and sees her standing by the window deep in thought. She looked up as she saw him and turns back to the window.

Z- are you still mad Soneya?

S-..................

Z- come on we were just messing around sone their kids if their not gonna have fun now then when are they going to when they're in their 70's??

S- look zaib im tired i dont wanna talk about this go and play with the kids i dont care anymore not like you guys going to listen to me anyways

Z- don't be like this soneya

S- like what zaib?? im freaking pregnant and want my husband there with me...is that too much to ask? ur always with the kids and never with me i love all three of you but im really not having a good time its annoying with my hormones messing everything up for god sake im jealous of my kids because u spend every moment with them.

She runs her hand through her hair and starts leaving the room feeling sad...hurt for some reason. Maybe because he didn't understand her anymore. Zaib feels guilty it was easy to be with her last time she was pregnant with the twins but now he's worried that she could get annoyed at something he does and have a big cry session besides he has to take care of the twins...what if she gets mad and starts screaming at them.

As Soneya walked downstairs she meets Gauri. Gauri seeing the stress and annoyance in her eyes asks her if she wants to go out and shop for the new coming baby. Soneya agrees and they leave. They had been shopping for 5 hours now and were drinking coffee and talking about Soneya's problems.

S- di i know that the kids need Zaib because i can't be there even for a while without getting tired...but i need him too i dont know i feel weird like im......

G- like your what soneya?

Soneya stays quiet for some time. She looks out the window to see a couple playing with their kids. She smiles softly and turns to Gauri seriously.

S- i feel like im losing him...like we don't understand each other anymore...like this marriage isn't going the best way

Gauri gasps and shakes her head.

S- no not like divorce or something like we need to go and spend time together...just the two of us.

Gauri smiles relieved and thinks about Zaib's plan. This will make her happy. They leave for the house. They see cars everywhere and the house decorated beautifully. Soneya looks at Gauri confused but Gauri smiles secretly and takes her inside. All the guests greet them and congratulate Soneya making her even more confused. Gauri takes her to her room and makes her change into a beautifully red and gold sari. She takes her downstairs and out of the house.

S- di where are we going??? whats with the guests and why am i dressed i like this? whats the occasion?

G- ................................... [smiles softly]

S- didi!!!! tell me!!

But her answers are answered when they come to the backyard and there's a mandap with Zaib sitting. The whole backyard was decorated for wedding. Gauri takes her to the mandap and makes her sit next to Zaib. They were getting married again. The whole process is done and they take the elders ashirwaad.

Gauri and Aaliya take her up to her room. The room was decorated with flowers and candles. The bed had the garland things around it and rose petals on the mattress. They sat her in the middle and pulled the pallu of her sari over her head.

G- so ready for some alone time with ur hubby?

S- di [blushes]

G- what? this is what you wanted remember! Zaib still knows you better than yourself soneya he knows what you need and when and how....he's perfect for you!

Saying this, Gauri leaves with Aaliya. Soneya sits there and thinks about Gauri's words. She was right. This is what she has wanted for the past months...ever since she first got pregnant for the second time. But she also felt ashamed for thinking that he did not love her anymore. So lost she was in her thoughts that she did not notice the door open and her handsome husband enter. She was staring at her hands in deep thought when another hands covered hers. She looked up and saw Zaib. She smiled softly and held his head in her hands

S- thanks love

Z- for what sone?

S- for everything...for understanding me...for taking care of the twins whenever i couldn't...just for being you

Z- i did it because i know you couldn't...thats what im here for...to do things you don't want to

S- like changing diapers??

They both laugh as memories of Zaib changing diapers of the twins while Soneya stood there laughing came into mind. Suddenly Soneya clutched her stomach and groaned in pain. Zaib understood and carried her downstairs to his car. They got to the hospital and the whole family followed them. Soneya was taken inside the room for labor while everyone waited anxiously outside. Zaib walked in front of the room over and over. 3 hours went by as Soneya's screams were heard and some not so kind words at Zaib, some that had to do with him ever touching her again, she'll cut his hands off. Zaib winced at her so sweet words. The sound of a baby crying was heard and everyone was relieved and happy.

Soneya woke up and the first thing she sees is Zaib holding the baby and walking while trying to make the baby sleep. He looked at her as she smiles at him…he smirks as a reply. She holds her arms out and he places the baby in her hands. It was the most beautiful baby boy ever. She pulled her top down and pushed the baby against her chest. The sound of the baby drinking milk was the only thing heard as Zaib watched his wife and their baby. She closed her eyes and relaxed. Soon the baby let her go and yawned and nestled against her breast as he fell asleep. She pulled her top down and held the baby comfortingly against her.

He comes and sits against the headboard…she lays against him with the baby was held by both of them. The family comes and greets them. After talking for hours, the family leaves the couple and the baby alone. 2 days later, Soneya was discharged. She comes home to see a party going on. Gauri takes the baby as Soneya changed into a white and black sari. She came downstairs looking absolutely beautiful. Everyone's attention was on her and Zaib was looking totally lost without his lady love. Soneya smiled as a naughty idea came into her mind. She walked around talking to people completely ignoring Zaib. Finally Zaib couldn't take it anymore…he went to his friends, Josh, Prem, and Shiv and made a plan. The lights were turned off and only some lights fell on the middle of the room where the three guys were standing. They started singing and walked to their lady loves: josh to Aaliya, prem to mukti, shiv to gauri, and zaib to soneya.

The audience applauds and the couples break away from each other. The scene shows Zaib and Soneya playing around with their kids and their baby boy growing up to look exactly like Zaib but his eyes were blue like his moms. They had named him Rohan. Now the scene shows two guys and a girl standing in front of two graves. The graves were side by side. On the graves it said

Zaib Khanna

A wonderful father, husband, son, brother, and friend.

Died with a smile on his face

May he rest in peace

Soneya Khanna

A wonderful mother, daughter, wife, sister, and friend

Died happily along side her husband

May she rest in peace

The two graves had a big brick thing at the top that said together in life and in death. The sound of a girl is heard. The three turn around and they are Rohan, Cia, and Vivek. A young girl of 10 is shown; she looks exactly like a younger Soneya. A guy is chasing her looking like Zaib. They were Zaib and Soneya's grandchildren. Ironically they were named after their grandparents. Zaib the older one had died with his hand in Soneya's. They both left the world at the same time, together from old age. As they 5 walk toward their house, two white lights are shown behind the grave. The light fades away and Zaib and Soneya stand there smiling at their family. They look at each other and walk off to the sunset.
