Minds Games…

     Nothing lasts forever. How true that statement was for Kripa. As her graduation day ended so did that happy family she had. As her graduation day ended, so did that dream of going to the same college as Angad. The end comes so fast, before we even have time to appreciate the beginning. Angad had already decided that he was going to MIT, he was telling Kripa, not asking her. What could she say? Nothing…
        Angad wasn't all that crazy about going to MIT, he really didn't care for it. All he wanted was to escape, escape from the reality. He was afraid to tell Kripa the truth, and so he did the next best thing…ran away. Hoping that maybe the distance would decrease Kripa's affection for him. He felt stupid, he should have seen it coming, he shouldn't have gotten so close to Kripa, knowing that he'd never be able to love her…never.
    Kripa was at Angad 's house, helping him pack. He was leaving for Boston tomorrow.
U- I hate the fact that your going to live in a dorm
A- Don't worry, I'll come to visit
U- What about our food, Angad you know that you cant eat fried food right?
A- Bua, chill out
U- What chill out?
K- (sigh)
A- What?
K- Nothing..
U- I'll be back
A- Okay
Angad and Kripa were alone in the room now. Kripa sat there looking sad. It broke Angad heart, he never wanted to see Kripa sad. But he knew that his was…well it wasn't that right thing to do, but it was the next best thing. Angad sat next to Kripa and put his arm around her
A- What's up
K- Do you have to leave
A- You don't want me to go to college
K- No, I mean yes…but I'll miss you
A- I'll miss you too babe
K- Promise you'll call me everyday
A- Promise.
K- And you'll miss me
A- (laughing)- Promise, anything else
K- You wont buy anyone else ice cream ever!!!
A- Never ever!
K- Okay…
A- You rock Kripa
K- I love you
   Angad loosened his grip on Kripa's arm, and smile at her.
A- I know
   Shazad had a new girlfriend, her name was Rena. He and Rena were walking down the road.
R- I still don't get it
S- Well, you don't have to
R- Shazad…
S- It's mind games baby, you'll see.
R- Whatever you say
   Meem was passing by and Shazad stopped to say hi
S- Hey Meem
M- Hi? Umm
S- This is Rina, my girlfriend
M- Oh, hi
R- Hey
M- Well, I got to go
S- Why lets chill out
M- No umm I have to go.
S- Okay, your lose, lets go love
R- Bye Meem
Meem just smiled and watched them walk away together. It bothered her, to see Shazad with someone else, it annoyed her…it got her angry.
Kripa called Meem, Kripa was throwing at Good-bye party for Angad, and so she wanted to invite Meem.
K- Hey Meem, what's up.
M- Nothing much, you?
K- A lot actually, well you know Angad got into MIT
M- Yeah I heard isn't it great?
K- Well…I guess. Anyway, I'm throwing a good bye party for him, and I just wanted to invite you
M- Cool, I'll ask my dad, and get back to you.
K- Great, bye
M- Bye
    Kripa was still fixing things up for the party, when Angad came by
A- Hey girlfriend
K- Hi boyfriend
A- So what's going on here
K- Well, I'm preparing for your party
A- Really
Angad held Kripa in his arms and Kripa kissed him. He returned it, and looked around the room.
A- So is this your gift for me?
K- No, I have a girt but it's much better then this for sure
A- Really, you mind telling me what it is?
K- No, it's a surprise
A- I hate surprises
K- I know, which makes it all the more fun.
   Meem's parents allowed her to go to the party, and now she needed a date. And of course, who else would she ask but Hussein.
H- And why do you want me to go with you again?
M- Because
H- Is this a date?
M- NOOOOO, it's just a friend helping a friend out
H- So were friends?
M- Yes, friends…JUST friends
H- Dosti to pyar ki shuruat hai
M- Irritating creature
H- I am not a creature! See now I wont go with you
M- Okay, I'm sorry
H- I don't get why you need me,. it's not like you need a date for this party
M- You ask way to many questions
   The party started, Shazad went with Rena, and they were dancing.
R- So why are we doing this again?
S- You ask way to many questions my love
    Meem came in with Hussein, Shazad and Rena went up to them to greet hem
S- Welcome to the party
M- Thanks, Hussein this
S- Shazad…and this is my girlfriend Rena
H- Hi
S- Well enjoy the party you two
H- Thanks
Shazad and Rena left.
H- Well he's nice
M- ….yeah, a little to nice.
Angad and Kripa were dancing too. It was a slow song now. Kripa held Angad, she could feel his strong back. Angad had his chin on Kripa's shoulder, they dance and whispered into each other's ears.
K- You promise you'll miss me
A- I'll miss you so much that I'll call you at 3 in the morning just to say I miss you
K- Really?? What fun!
A- Are you serious?
K- No, but remember to call me
A- I'll make sure the phone bill goes off the charts.
K- Stop joking!
A (laughing)- don't worry, I'm sure it wont be that bad.
K- I've been with you for so long that I cant imagine you not being here anymore.
A- Don't worry, everything will be okay. I promise
K- I love you
A- …..I know
Shazad went to get some drinks and Meem went after him
M- What's wrong with you?
S- I swear it's fruit punch, nothing else
M- Why are you being so nice to him!
S- Who
M- Hussein!
S- Oh your boyfriend
M- He is not my boyfriend, and why are you so nice to him?
S- Maybe I'm just a nice person
M- Yeah, that's crap
S- Well Meem, I really don't care what you think…your not my girlfriend anymore.
   Shazad smiled and left to his table. Meem knew something was up, she could just feel it. The party was soon to finish. Angad was sitting drinking, when Kripa came
K- Come on
A- Where?
K- To your gift!
    Kripa looked very happy.
A- Your going to bring me to my gift?
K- Yup
A- Okay
   Angad and Kripa walked to his gift which was in another room, Angad had his hands on Kripa's waist. He kept poking to, asking her to tell him what the gift was.
K- Have patience
A- I don't have that…it's not in my genes!
K- Shut up!
   Kripa brought Angad into a room. It was beautifully decorated. Angad right away realized what his gift was. He laughed, he was happy he had such a cool girlfriend though. If only he didn't feel so god damn guilty.
K- So?
A- I love it
K- I'm glad
Kripa put her arms around Angad, and kissed him. He passionately kissed her back, and let go of her.
A- But…
K- But?
A- I love that you did this for me, but it be wrong
K- This is so turning me off right now
A- I'm leaving tomorrow. I don't want for anything to happen between us, and then next thing you know I not here anymore. That be wrong.
K- I love you!
A- I know
K- You're the sweetest guy I've ever met
   Angad kissed Kripa and they went to back the party. Back there Meem and Hussein sat next to each other watching all the couples dance.
H- Having fun?
M- Not really, you?
H- Well, maybe if I had a few of my friend here, it be better.
M- I thought I was your friend?
H- Really?
M- Sure…were friends
H- Good, so new friend, would you like to dance?
Meem saw Shazad and Rena dancing close to each other, it made her angry again.
M- Sure…why not
   They went to dance too. Shazad saw this and gave a wicked smile as he danced with Rena. The party ended and Meem and Hussein left.
S- Well then…that's done
R- So were over?
S- And when were we together?
R- Yeah I don't get it, why did I have to act like your girlfriend.
S- My dear buddy, it's all about the mind games.
R- I don't get it still
S- You don't need too, I just wanted to see something
R- What
S- Nothing…see your around buddy, and thanks again
R- Whatever Shazad, your crazy.
S- I know.
    The next morning, Angad was al packed to go to Boston, Urvashi was going with him to get him settled. Kripa was crying.
A- Stop it
K- I'm trying!
A- Kripa, it's not like I'm going to Iraq for the war!
K- Shut up!
A- Come here
   Angad hugged her real tight. Maybe Angad didn't love her, but he did care for her, alot. He hated to see her in pain, but he had no other choice, well he did…but this was the next best thing. He kissed her good bye and went in the car. Kripa waved bye to him. She stood there until she could no longer see the car anymore…
