Part 10- Winter Break

Everyone looked so clam, a white wonderland. A cool breeze, light snow and excitement. It was the last day before Winter Break. This was everyones getaway week, because once they came back, they would have to go through Mid Term Exams.
   Sweaters, Jackets, Glowers and scarves were all pack. Everyone was waiting desperately for that last bell to ring.

RING*********

The bell rang, but dotn get excited people, that's only the first bell. All the students gathered in thri homerooms.

D- Well, isn't today exciting, the last day before Winter Break. Don't we all wish today just flies by.
Students- YES!!
D- Well too bad, because today is gonna go extra long.
S- You seem to be in a bad mmod
D-Yeah well, todays my hearing
K- For what
D- Divorce
A- …………..EXCUSE ME????? YOU ARENT DIVORCED YET?
D- No, I will today…officially that is
A (thinking) - And you had the nerve to get engaged? I wont ever let Bua marry you. Just wait until she comes back from that convention!
D- Would you like to say something Mr. Khanna
A- Nope
D- By the way why didn't you come to school yesterday?
A- I was busy
D- With what? Its funny though, I haven't seen you since the day before yesterdays lunch period.
A- I had to help my aunt with something
D- Really…your aunt was in the hospital. Are you trying to say you were with her their?
A-……
D- This isn't the first time Mr. Khanna. To seem to vanish a lot nowadays.
A- Maybe im a ghost
D- Well anyway..let me take attendance.
   While Mr. Das was taking attendance, the kids started talking.
S- So Meem, where you going for winter break
M- No where…staying home I guess
S- WHAT!!! No gp crazy plans
M- Nah
S- Why, come with us.
M- Upstate?
S- How do you know?
M- First Kripa asked me…then Vedika asked me, then Raj asked me and now you
S- So why dotn you come
M- My parents wont let me
S- But do you want to come?
M-….Shazad, just leave it.
S- Meem, how long are you going to live in your bubble?
M- Bubble?
S- Your coming, that's final.
   Just then Raj cam in and sat next to Shazad.
S- Hey
R- What you guys doing
M- Nothing
S- Im trying to convince Meem, to come with us upstate. We cn handle her parents right?
R- Yeah Meem, come
M- You guys don't know my parents
   Raj looked around the room Kripa came to him. He took her hand and sat her next to him. He put his arm around her. Then looked around again and saw Mr. Das.
R- Maybe we cant handle your parents, but I know someone who can.
S- Who
R- Mr. Das
M- But he wont..
R- Yes he will
S- So you talk to him
R- No me
K- Why?
R-Long story short…we broke up after my drinking incident
K- Oh im so sorry baby
R- Its ok, I still have you
K- Yeah…
R- I love you Kripa
K- Me too Raj
S- CAN WE MOVE ON NOW!!!
R- Oh sorry…so Angad
K- Anagd?
S- Yeah…Mr. Das is engaged to Angads aunt right?
K- Oh yeah!
M- Guys, we all know Angad hates Mr. Das
K- Oh yeah….but lets convince him
R- You really think he's gonna listen...I mean, he really hates Das
S- Yeah
K- I know who he'll listen too
Just then Vedika came in
V- Hey guys
Everyone gave Vedika a mischievous grin
15 mins later-
V (thinking) Oh god…why did I agree to this? Crap!
   Vedika went and sat next to Angad. She smiled sweetly.
V- Hi Angad
A- Hey…whats up
V- nothing..you excited about the trip?
A- Yeah, you?
V- Kind of
A- Why?
V- Well…Look, you and Kripa and such good friends, Raj and Shazad are best friends…I mean…
A- Well you bring you friend along too
V- But Meem isn't coming
A- Meem? (thinking) since when is Vedika best friends with Meem? (thought ended) Well why don't you tell her to coem too
V- But her parents wont let her…now if a teacher asked her parents…then it would work
A- Oh, I see
V- A reputed yet cool teacher …like Mr. Das
A- Mr. Das?
V- But, that'll never happen…maybe I just shouldn't go (making a sad face)
   Anagd was thinking, and Vedika kept glancing at him. Angad looked at Vedika's sad face.
A- Dotn worry Vedika…
V- But…
A- Just don't worry…
    The bell rang
A- Go to class
V- Ok…
   Vedika remember what Raj told her. He said to do something that wouls close the deal. So that Angad wouldn't be able to back off. Something sudden and drastic. Vedka blinked, and out of impulse went a kissed Angad on the cheek.
A- ok (confused yet happy)
Vedkiak just smile and walked away quickly.
V- CRAP!
A- (touching his cheek) Maybe that wasn't a waste of time after all.
    Kripa, Raj, Shazad and Meem were watching from the door. They all started laughing like crazy
R- She kissed him
K- WOW
M- You guys are crazy
S- She kissed him
Vedika came out, and they all hugged her ans said thank you. Then they all went to their classes. During Lunch, Angad met Mr. Das.
A- I have an offer for you
D- Excuse me?
A- Were all going upstate for winter break…and we want Meme to come also
D- And…
A- Meem's parents wont let her.
D- So?
A- Your job is to convince them
D- And...you really think I going to do what you tell me too?
A- Mr. Das…you're a smart man…you know whats best for you. If you dotn agree, I'll tell Bua that you and Ms. Nisa arent divorced yet
   Mr. Das stared at Angad. He kn ew the Urvashi hated lie's. And keeping the fact the he and Nisa weren't divorced yet was a BIG lie!
   Anagd put out his hand…
A- DEAL?
D- You know that your in no position to blackmail me Angad. I know everything about you.
A- And what are you gonna do? Tell my friends the truth? Do you really think they'd care? Do you really think I care? Mr. Das…Caring about all this is a waste of time. And you know…I ahte wasting time.
D- They should have named you Samay….we have a deal Mr. Khanna
A- ok then.
D- Bye
A- Bye
Angad and Mr. Das went separate ways. Anagd wen to Vedika and sat next to her.
A- Meems goona come…Mr. Das is gonna talk to her parents
V- oh my god relly. Thank you Angad. I love you
A- Um Vedika I…
V- Angad I'll talk to you later ok, bye!
Vedika ran to tell Raj and them
A- Never mind…(smiling)
   Vedika went to Kripa
V- He did it
They all got happy and screamed loud.
M- Guys, my parents didn't say Yes yet
S- Meem…shut up!
M- FINE!
   It was calculus..and last period. The kids were gien free time.
A- So Kripa
K- Angad dotn start
A- Dude…come on!
K- Ok fine…yes Raj and I are dating
A- Awww
K- Stop acting like a girl. Its no big deal
A- He said he loved you…and you love him…Kripa!!!!
K- Anagd stop teasing
A- Ok fine, I'll stop
K- Thanks, and its not love….its just fun
A- FUN?
K- Not like that!!!! I dunno, I like being ith him. I always liked it.
A- Always?
K- Yeah I……
A_ What happened?
K- Its strange, I tell you everything…Im really comfortable with you
A- Yeah..me too. Like about Vedika, you were the first person I told
K- That's cool
A- Yeah
K- So lets promise…no secrets, we'll tell each other everything. Deal?
A- (sad yet smiling)- Yeah….no secrets.
Angad thought deeply..what would his friends say when they found out? Kripa, who trusted him to much, who he trsted more than anyone…he couldn't even tell her. Why? What was stopping him? But deep down he knew why…he knew what was stopping him. It was because no matter how much he said her didn't care…he himself couldn't accept it…the truth. So, by not telling anyone about it, he kept the truth a lie. He kept it a secret…from the world and maybe himself.

After school Mr. Das went to Meem's house.
D- Hello Mr. Ahmed
MA- Mr. Das? Hello, please come imn
D- Thank you…
     After a long conversation, Mr. Ahmed agreed. Oh, he didn't agree to sadi Meem upstate with her friends. He agreed to send Meem on a research prigram upstate. Meem was one of the lucky few who would get this chance, since she was such a good student. Now…I knew knew this was bull, you knew this was bull, and Mr. Das knew this was bull. But Mr. And Mrs Ahmed they thought this was the best thing that ever happened to Meem. So they let her go.
    Meem packer her bags and was all read. Now, Meem felt bad…she hated lying to her parents. But, deep down, she was excited. This was the first time Meem would get to live her life…do something she wanted to do. It was wrong…but then again…if kids did the right thing, they wouldn't be kids anymore would they?

They were all packed and ready to go. WINTER BREAK HERE WE COME!!!
