Part 70:

 

Armaan ran backstage as the crowd started demanding for Tanya's performance.

 

Armaan: guys!  BIG problem…the crowd wants Tanya…they wont let go easily if we tell them that she wont be performing tonight.

 

Mishti: what do we do now??

 

The whole group was desperately looking for a solution when they heard the crowd go silent followed by Piano Keys.  They all rushed towards the area from where the stage was visible.  They were all surprised to see Tanya seated at the Piano playing the keys for her intro.  Rahul couldn't be happier.  He was pining to see her and at last he did.

 

Tanya gracefully started singing "hello" (Originally by Evanescence, sung by Amy Lee)

Angad joined the rest of them backstage.  Everyone, except for Rahul, looked at his accusingly.

 

Angad: what??  She wont listen!

 

Everyone's attention was grabbed by the next verse.

The crowd poured cheers for her as she ended her song with the closing piano keys.  She walked backstage after the curtains closed.  Everyone was standing there with their arms crossed.  Tanya rolled her eyes.

 

Tanya: oh come on!  I couldn't keep my fans screaming like that…and you all knew you would be in big trouble if I didn't come.

 

Armaan: that's for sure!...but still…you shouldn't have..

 

Tanya: don't worry…im fine!!!  Girls!  Our performance up next!  Lets go!!

 

Tanya went to the change room and came back in no time wearing a coffee-coloured sleeveless top, which showed her flat belly, and clung to her body, shaping out the perfect curves, with a funky design on it with black jeans that had chains hanging on it.  She looked like a complete rockstar, especially with the arm band she had used to cover up her tattoo.  Tanya, Mishti, and Barkha, Armaan, rushed onto the stage and took their positions.  Tanya behind the mic with her guitar, Armaan behind the drums, while Mishti and Barkha took positions behind their mics.

 

Tanya looked to her side to look at Angad.  He simply smiled back as he gave her a thumbs up.  Rahu thought she was looking at him because he was standing in front of Angad.  He didn't realize it and drew in a deep breath when Tanya flashed her million dollar smile.  She strummed her guitar cords to the slow opening as the curtains opened.

All seven sat around the big rectangle table at a Chinese restaurant.  Tanya looked at Riddhima who nodded.  Tanya tapped the crystal glass with the tip of a fork to grab everyone's attention.

 

Tanya: Thank you.  Now that I have your attention, Riddhima has an announcement to make!

 

All looked at Riddhima while she gave Tanya a "what the hell?" look.  Tanya cutely raised her shoulders as if saying "what?". 

 

Riddhima: I don't know what she's talking about…actually…Tanya has an announcement to make..

 

All heads turned to Tanya at the other end of the table.

 

Tanya: I don't have to say anything…

 

Barkha: Oh my god!  Just say it already….alright…I'll say it..

 

Riddhima: no no….its ok…please Tanya…Angad!  Tell her na!

 

Tanya(rolled her eyes): there is no need…I'll tell you guys.  So we found out on the day before yesterday…and we had to change our dresses…now why we had to change our dresses was because they were too tight around torso.

 

Armaan(cocked his eyebrow): this is your announcement?

 

Tanya: Will you let me finish?

 

Armaan: go ahead!..

 

Armaan picked up his glass of coke and started drinking not trying to make sense out of the so called "announcement" they had to make.

 

Tanya: anyways…we couldn't choose that dress because wearing tight dresses like that isn't good for Riddhima since..(clears her throat) She is two months pregnant.

 

The drink that was supposed to go down Armaan's throat, came out the wrong way and hit Eijaz's face, since he was sitting right in front of Armaan.

 

Eijaz: WHAT THE ****!!

 

Everyone on the table had a hard time controlling their laughter so they all let it out.  Armaan and Eijaz's reactions were the "one in a gazillion" kinds.  Eijaz was ready to get up and beat the crap out of Armaan while Armaan looked at Tanya as if she had just murdered someone in front of everyone.

 

Armaan: SHE'S WHAT???!!!

 

Angad(pulling Armaan's ear closer and yelling): two months pregnant!!

 

Armaan was so delighted; he got up, picked up Riddhima and twirled her around not caring what the other guests in the restaurant thought of them.  Tanya's hand automatically reached Angad's shoulder as she watched the cute scene between husband and wife.  Angad's hand found its way up to hers and covered her hand like a blanket.

Kripa waltzed around in the kitchen while the CD player played "Aisa lagta hai" from refugee.  Prateek was giggling as he observed her from his chair.  She had her hands positioned as if she was dancing with a man.  Angad entered the kitchen and stood in the doorway observing her hopping around as if actually dancing with a partner.  She continued dancing completely oblivious to his stare or presence.  Suddenly, an idea popped in his mind which he followed and approached Tanya who was dancing with her back facing him.  She twirled around and the next thing she knew was that Angad had taken the invisible man's spot.  He took her hand in his, circled her waist with the other hand and danced away.  Prateek giggled and clapped his hands seeing the two.

 

She was losing it.  She had started losing it the moment he had appeared in front of her, the moment he had taken her hand in his, the moment he had put his hand around her waist.  It sent chills down her spine which converted into electric waves which traveled through her body.  He knew exactly what effect he had on her and boy was he proud of it.  Tanya froze in her spot when she heard "mamma".  She looked at prateek who was baby talking a few moments ago and had put an end to it with "mamma".  She walked to him hastily.

 

Tanya: kya kaha aapne beta?? Phir se bolo…

 

She encouraged him which made him giggle and baby talk.  Angad walked up behind her as well.  Then, he did it again.  Prateek said "mamma".  She picked him up and hugged him tight.  The single word seemed like water to a parched throat.  She couldn't help her self from moistening her eyes.  Now Angad was encouraging prateek to say it again. 

 

Tanya: he called me mamma!!

 

She hugged Angad as well where prateek was automatically engaged in a group hug.  After a few moments she realized the reality and parted.

 

Tanya: im sorry…I actually…..you know how I've been with prateek and all…couldn't control myself when I heard him speak.  I guess I'll have to wait until he calls me "didi" or "aunty"…

 

He could see the disappointment on her face, hear it in her voice, sense it in her body language.  Oh how he wished he could tell her the truth right then and there.

Days flew by and in no time it had been 2 months since Angad had met Kripa aka Tanya.  Prateek was seven months old now, trying to say words as Tanya taught him.  She still remembered how happy she was when prateek had addressed her "mamma" for the first time.  It wouldn't hurt Angad anymore to realize that his Kripa didn't remember him because the difference could not be seen.  He knew exactly what was happening in Tanya's mind and heart every second he went near her.  He was hoping to tell her how special she was to him and that he was "starting" to fall in love with her since it was Valentines Day.  Little did he know that Rahul was two steps ahead of him.  That evening Angad returned home in good spirits prepared to tell her how he felt, with the hope that she would confess what she truly felt.  He froze in his spot when he saw her in the living room arguing with Rahul.

 

Rahul: but why??  What is missing in me Tanya tell me!  We both have the same passion: music.  I got the money, I have a respectable job.  I love you…

 

Tanya: why don't you understand that I don't??  I don't love you in that way rahul...i'll always love you as a friend but…

 

Rahul: tell me why??  I know you don't love me but you'll fall in love with me…I'll make you fall in love with me.

 

Tanya: rahul…if you really loved me, you would understand that I don't love you…and you cant MAKE someone fall in love when they already are in love!

 

Rahul(outraged): WHO IS HE??

 

Tanya: you don't need to know!

 

Rahul: YES I DO

 

Tanya(just as angry as Rahul): NO YOU DON'T!  WHY DO YOU CARE ABOUT WHO I LOVE RAHUL?  Why don't you understand???...

 

Rahul:  because you don't!...why don't YOU understand that I love you…if you don't understand me you cant expect me to understand you…

 

Tanya: you know what rahul?  It isn't necessary that you get the one you love..look at me…im never going to get the man I love…because he loves someone else..

 

Rahul: then get over him?

 

Tanya: JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT ME TO?

 

Rahul: you know what?  I don't even know why I bothered….i know who you're in love with….you're in love with Angad aren't you?..

 

Tanya: just leave rahul

 

Rahul: ITS ANGAD ISNT IT?  YOUR NEVER GOING TO GET HIM BECAUSE HE LOVES HIS WIFE….RIGHT?  JUST SAY IT…ITS ANGAD.

 

Tanya:  YES IT IS!  I LOVE ANGAD… is there anything else you want to know?

 

Rahul: let me tell you something…he'll never be yours…your going to have to spend your life alone in hi anticipation.

 

Tanya: I know…I don't need you to tell me…but just because he loves someone else, I cant stop loving him. 

 

Rahul: im going to go tell him how you feel….he'll kick you out of his and Prateek's life after that.

 

Tanya was shocked.  She couldn't believe that rahul could stoop so low just to get Tanya to agree to his proposal.  She had to stop him.  She had found her lost family in Angad and Prateek.  There was no way she was going to lose them after losing her family and memory.

 

Tanya: Rahul ruko!!

 

Rahul: No way!  I am going to go tell him right now.

 

Tanya:  rahul please listen to me!  Angad se kuch mat kehna….please…

 

Angad:  he doesn't need to say anything to me!

 

Tanya was even more shocked.  She turned around in disbelief only to see him standing there looking angry like never before.  Rahul took steps towards Angad determined to tell him that Tanya harbors feelings for him.

 

Angad: Don't say anything rahul.  For now, Just leave!.

 

Rahul saw the rage in Angad's eyes and left without arguing.  Tanya felt like she was going to pass out any second.  Her heartbeats accelerated with every step Angad took towards her.

 

Angad: so you love me?  (she stared back him with a blank expression)…do you love me Tanya?

 

Tanya: i…uh…i….

 

Angad: yes or no??

 

Tanya: Angad…i..

 

Angad: YES OR NO??

 

Tanya was taken aback as he raised his voice.  She looked down, scared, and nodded gently.  She felt his finger push her chin upwards making her look at him.  A tear escaped her eyes.  She was sure she was going to lose them now.  Both Angad, and prateek, the ones she loved dearly will be lost because of rahul.  She would kill him if she got his hands on him.  Angad wiped her tears and smiled at her which relaxed her a bit.  His smile just got wider.  She looked at him confused.  She was surprised when he went back to the coffee table, picked up the roses bouquet, and kneeled in front of her.

 

Angad(holding up the roses): Tanya…will you marry me?

 

Her haw dropped when he finished.  Did he just do what she thought he did?  A smiled shined through the tears but faded just as quickly.

 

Tanya: Im sorry…I Cant.
