Chapter 56

Part 55:

Prithvi had the rod charged up and was about to hit Aliyah's stomach to kill the baby.  They were too shocked to act or respond to anything that happened.  What happened next completely stunned Angad and Josh.  They heard three gunshots in a row.  Followed by many gunshots in a row that could not be counted.  They heard girls scream after every shot.  Angad and Josh quickly made their way into the deep woods and helplessly saw Kripa slide down against the tree, drenched in blood, while aliyah let out a mournful howl, drenched in blood as well.

Angad: KKRRIIPPAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Josh: AALLIIYYAAHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both men rushed to their respective wives.  Josh was both shocked and relieved to see Aliyah in perfect shape but then it scared him.  Did that mean that all those shots hit Kripa?  Josh and aliyah rushed to Angad and Kripa.

Angad: Kripa..kya hua...Kripa say something....kuch bolo Kripa......Kripa....kuch bolo please........

Kripa was having trouble keeping her eyes open, the world around her was spinning, all three, angad josh and aliyah that is, were talking at once."Kripa..say something","Where did she get shot?", "Kripa.....open your eyes".  Kripa wailed in pain, her head resting in angad's lap, hiccuping for breaths, the pain was growing constantly.  Aliyah chekced properly and couldn't find a spot on Kripa's body where she could have been shot.  Kripa managed to pull her hands out of Angad's tight grip and rested them immediately on her stomach still yelping in pain.

Angad: Josh!  Shes in labor!!....Hospital...QUICK!!

Flasback:

Kripa(sobbing): PRITHVI STOP!!!  TUMHE KYA MIL JAYEGA??  AGAR TUM ALIYAH KE BACCHE KO MAAR DOGE TO KYA TUMHE TUMHARA BACCHA VAPAS MILEGA??  Nahi na?  Please prithvi hume jaane do....

Prithvi: Im sorry sweetheart....aliyah....tum apne baby se puch lo ki uski akhri khwaish kya hai.....EK MINUTE....tumne abortion karne se pehle to mere bacche se nahi pucha hoga na?

Prithvi lifted the rod and was ready to hit Aliyah's stomach when a bullet pierced through him followed by one more a second later.  Kripa had been struggling all this time to break free and and last she has succeeded.  She had made a run for the pistol located a few feet away from her.  Without giving it a second thought, she pointed the pistol at Prithvi and shot him twice in a row.  She shot the third bullet at the rope which had trapped aliyah.  As soon as Aliyah was set free, she darted for the second pistol and started shooting at prithvi.  Prithvi stood in the middle facing bullets shot from the back by Kripa and also consumed the bullets coming from Aliyah in the front.  Blood Splattering in both direction drenched both shooters.  Prithvi's body fell to the ground after taking in 18 bullets.  Kripa leaned back against the tree feeling dizzy and uneasy.  She thought she felt a contraction but she wasnt sure because of all the action that happened in merely few minutes.  She slid down against the tree and onto the floor and closed her eyes.  She heard Angad screaming out her name and felt like she was going to die of happiness.

Kripa was rushed down the hallway with Angad running beside her stretcher holding her hand tight, saying soothing words to her.  She twisted and turned her head in pain and Angad's heart sunk at the sight.  He reluctantly let go of her hand at the OT(operation theatre) door.  Angad looked at Aliyah who paced back and fourth in front of the door.

Angad: Aliyah...what the heck was all that about??  Why did Prithvi...

Aliyah: We knew him from before...remember how the doctor said the other day about my first abortion?  Well...that abortion was two years ago when Me and Kripa were in Canada.  Prithvi wanted to take revenge from us and kill our babies because I aborted his.

Josh(surprised): That was Prithvi's kid?

Aliyah: yea...

Angad: You had a relationship that serious with him?

Aliyah(angry): NO I DIDNT!!  HE....He tried to rape me and Kripa.....

Angad & Josh: WHAT??!!??

Aliyah told them everything from their meeting with prithvi till the abortion and from the return of Prithvi till his death.  Angad and Josh were truly shaken by the reality they faced alone without anyone by their side.  Josh felt terribly guilty for losing faith in aliyah so quickly.

Josh: Aliyah....I am so sorry...mujhe puri baat jaane bina koi faisla nahi lena chahiye tha...mujhe at least tumhe apni baat kehne ka ek mauka dena chahiye tha..

Aliyah: Its ok josh...I know you love me and thats all that matters....agar tumhari jagah aur koi hota to shayad apni biwi ko harrass bhi karta...lekin tumne aisa kuch nahi kiya...its completely understandable...and dont worry...everything is alright....our relationship, our love, and our baby.

Josh and Aliyah hugged each other and looked over at angad who still seemed to be absorbing all the information.

Aliyah(putting her hand on his shoulder): bhai...dont worry...Kripa ko aur baby ko kuch bhi nahi hoga...

Angad: I hope so aliyah...but that isnt troubling me...Kripa is really strong...she has been through so much and still she hasn't broken down or given up...and the baby.....bhagwan ne pehle hi humse hamara baccha cheena tha...iss baar aisa kuch nahi hoga....but the thing is...how will i face Kripa...yea josh lost faith in you but..I..Slapped her...i cant believe i did that......i dont know what came over me...

Josh: The brother in you grew stronger than the husband at the moment...and nothing is wrong in that....dont worry...Mein Kripa ko bahut acchi tarah se jaanta hoon....woh kuch bhi nahi kahegi...

Angad: I know...and thats what makes me feel guiltier about the whole thing...i wish she would yell at me so i dont feel as bad....but i know she wont.....I just want to be with her right now...She needs me right now...i know it...i can feel her heart screaming for me....

Angad, Josh, and Aliyah had been outside for 5 hours now.  No nurse or doctor had stepped outside.  They couldnt even ask anyone what was going on.  A few minutes later the door opened, it was as if their wish was granted.  But before they could ask the nurse anything, she ran up the hall and into another room just to come out a few seconds later with an oxygen cylinder.  After another hour, a nurse came out accompanying the doctor.

Doctor: Congratulations.  She has delivered a healthy baby boy.

Angad sighed with relief and grinned ear to ear while Josh and Aliyah congratulated him with equal happiness.

Josh: Angad...congrats...tum papa ban gaye!!!

Aliyah: aur mein bua ban gayi!!

Josh: wait...agar tum bua bani to kya mein uska fufa hua??

Aliyah: aur agar tum mama ban gaye to mein maami??

Josh: kya confusion hai!!!

Angad: Shut up you two!!!  Im trying to talk to the nurse here...Is Kripa alright??

Nurse: She is perfectly fine.  Must say havent see a woman like her in my 10 years of working here.  6 long hours of labor, then the delivery and shes still wide awake...other women would normally faint or create a huge scene here..if we got patients like her everyday...our jobs would be so much easier....(giggled) anyways...she will be shifted in her room shortly, you can all meet her there.

A few minutes later, Angad stepped into Kripa's room.  Feeling his precence, she looked up immediately and smiled.  Angad rushed towards her and gathered her in his arms.  He placed a gentle kiss on her lips and parted.  She was about to say something when he stopped her.

Angad: Kuch mat kehna...pata hai main kitna darr gaya tha mein?   Kahan kahan nahi dhunda tumhe....jab tum nahi mili to mujhe laga ki maine tumhe ek galati ki vajah se kho diya....phir aaj raat jab tumhe dekha, drenched in blood, my heart stopped beating...but see....god has given me one more chance....I am sorry about what I did the other day kripa...i wasnt in my senses...i really dont know what got into me

Kripa: Angad...

Angad: no Kripa...let me finish...Thank you so much for being with my sister when she needed someone close.  If it werent for you, she would have broken completely.  Thank you for not leaving me for my stupidity.  Thank you for making me the happiest man on earth today and you have to promise me that you will never do anything like this again.

Finally, when he finished, he looked at her.  She had tears streaming out of her eyes.

Kripa(smiling through her tears): Are you done?  Ab mein kuch bol sakti hoon??(Angad nodded)...sach bolu to mujhe bhi ek pal ke liye aise hi laga tha ki mein shayad tumhe kabhi nahi dekh paungi...tumne jo uss din kiya...uss mein tumhari koi galati nahi thi...you were just really concerned about Aliyah...and Mr.Husband...aliyah tumhari behen baad mein hogi pehle woh meri dost hai....I wont be leaving you so easily so dont even think about it, I promise that i'll never do anything like this again...and if I made you the happiest man on earth, you've made me the happiest woman in the universe....

Angad was still a little down and Kripa decided to change the atmosphere.

Kripa: So....mera prince tumhari princess se pehle hi aa gaya na?  waise kahan hai woh??  Tumne dekha usse...Does he look like you or me??

Angad: I dont know...I havent seen him yet...

Kripa: Angad.....woh.....Prithvi?

Angad: Naam mat lo uska...ab woh hamari zindagi aur iss duniya se chala gaya hai.....aaj ke baad uss topic par koi baat nahi hogi...

Kripa: Prithvi..dead.....I....I killed him!!  Angad I killed him....Im a murderer...

Kripa started freaking out of guilt for murdering him.  Aliyah and Josh came in rushing hearing Kripa freak out.

Josh: Kripa enough....stop..

Aliyah: Kripa...sirf tumne usse nahi maara....meine bhi to goli chalayi thi uss par...

Angad: Kripa...Listen to me...(cupped her face)..LISTEN TO ME.....you killed him for your own defence...agar tumhari jagah koi aur hota...to woh bhi yehi karta..

Just as Kripa was calming down, two policemen entered the room.

Cop1: Mrs.Khanna and Mrs.Sharma?

Aliyah: Im Mrs.Sharma...

Kripa: I am Mrs.Khanna....whats the matter?

Cop2: We reached the location where you two were kept a day ago and the forest where we found Mr.Bose's dead body.  We found two pistols near by and figured that all 18 bullets were shot into him.

Kripa: Yea...I shot him.

Aliyah: No...She is lying!  I shot him!

Kripa: Aliyah shut up!  I shot him officer.

Cop1: well...doesnt matter who did...we actually wanted to Thank you.  We have been searching for him for a few months now.  He is a Most Wanted man in Canada for a couple of murders and 3 rape cases.  He was  beast alright.  And for some reason, he videoshot the whole incident with you ladies.  From when he kidnapped you until we reached.  Apperently, he was recodring everything in cell phone.  You two will just need to give your statement in the court to agree with the evidence and there will be no actions taken against you.

Angad: Can you take their statements right now?  I mean...My wife just delivered and My sister, Mrs.Sharma, will deliver anytime.  We might not be able to reach the court on the hearing date.

The cops agreed and told Angad and Josh to step out of the room.  Angad and Josh encouraged their wives and reasured them that nothing bad will happen.  About half an hour later, the police officers stepped out, thanked Angad and Josh and left.

Angad: Chalo..ab sab kuch theek ho gaya hai...acchi baat hai...

Kripa: Angad...DADI!...unhe iss sab ke baare mein pata to nahi?

Angad: nahi...mom, dad aur dadi iss sab ke baare mein kuch nahi jaante....ek baar woh vapas aa jaye to mom aur dad ko bata denge lekin dadi se kuch nahi keh sakte..

Aliyah: Bhai...atleast phone kar ke bata to do ki woh dada-dadi ban gaye...aur dadi ko promotion mil gaya hai...

All four laughed.  Yes, everything was back to normal.  Each and everyone had left the horrible past behind.  Angad called but couldnt rech dilip or Naina's phone.  He gave up trying and sat by Kripa's side.

Angad: Phone nahi lag raha hai....Josh...ek kaam karo...Aliyah ko ghar le jao...she needs rest...they have had a horrible time...aliyah..dont argue okay?  Just go.  I promise you will be the first one to see your nephew after me and Kripa....

Aliyah: you better keep that promise or else!!...

Angad: I will dont worry....

Josh and Aliyah bid Angad-Kripa goodbyes and left.  Angad stared deep into kripa's eyes for no reason trying to catch some of the happiness in her eyes.

Angad: kya baat hai...bahut khush lag rahi ho..

Kripa: of course khush hoon...hum sab ke beech ab sab kuch theek hai...hamara baccha theek hai...khushi to hogi na...

Angad: aur bhi khush kar sakta hoon tumhe...

Kripa(innocently): Acha?..Kaise??

Angad leaned on her and covered her lips with his.  At first she stiffened because of the sudden movement but soon relaxed in his arms deepening the kiss.  Their lip-lock was broken when they heard footsteps approaching their room.  They pulled apart but still stayed in each other's arms.  The nurse walked in with the bundle of joy wrapped in a white blanket.  Kripa sprang up to get a glimpse of her son.  The nurse carefully handed her the baby.  Kripa handled it with great care and gentleness.  Both angad and Kripa looked at their son together.  Kripa's eyes welled with tears of joy along with Angad's.  Angad kissed Kripa's forehead and whispered "I love you!".  Kripa kissed his cheek and reciprocated with the same sweet words.

Nurse: Birth Certificate mein Naam Kya likhna hai?

Both angad and Kripa looked at each other, smiled, and said "Prateek" in unison.
