Chapter 19
The Devil Wears Armani
She stared at Angad, dumfounded. Could it be…? Was he really…? Since when…?
Angad warily took in the expression on her face. All he could tell was that she was surprised. He had no idea what to do, what to say. One wrong move, one wrong word and everything could be ruined.
"Angu!" Mishti whined, completely oblivious to the tension circulating the room; she wanted him to accept his love for her so she could call all the reporters and make it public as soon as possible.
Mishti's voice broke the spell for Kripa. She hastily spun on her heel and was out of the door in a couple of seconds. Before she could even think about what to do, where to go, her phone rang and Elise's name flashed across the screen. "Hello?"
"Hey Kripa. Listen, I have to go in a few so I'm just going to make this quick alright?" Elise said, sounding out of breath. Before Kripa could respond she continued talking speedily, "Today's the photo shoot. I know, I know- it was supposed to be in two days, but there's been some sort of emergency with Armani and Angad's needed back in New York tomorrow so we have to move the shoot up for today. Which means we have to move fast. So I need to you to be on your A-game today okay? You need to be completely focused in order to get everything done. It's going to a very long and tiring day- so please, please, please forget everything other than this shoot. Forget eating, forget sleeping, forget friends, family, boyfriends- just forget it all. Complete the shoot and get Angad back here ASAP. I have to run now; things are crazy with the meeting and him coming back, so I'm low on time, too. Someone's going to forward you an email telling you about the shoot and everything that has to be done. Good luck, bye."
Kripa stared at her phone. She did not need this right now. She needed a long bath, a good romance novel, and lots of chocolate. Her phone beeped and she saw the email Elise was talking about. Sighing, she shook her head and started going through the email. Today was indeed going to be a long, long day.
****
Kripa got ninety-five percent of the list done, making all the calls and zapping out all the crucial emails she was supposed to. All she had to do now was get Angad to the location, help him complete the shoot, and hop on a flight back to New York City- with him.
She took a deep breath and knocked on his door, three hours later. She figured three hours would be enough time for both of them to once again put up their facades. And get that vile bit*h to leave.
"Come in," She walked inside the room to see Angad dressed in black pants and a dark blue long-sleeved shirt. He looked at her with no emotion on his face. Even his eyes were unreadable to Kripa.

Angad Khanna was scared.
For the first time since he was a young boy, Angad Khanna was scared. It made him feel so small, so powerless. So he did what he did best- he blocked out all his emotions and put on his classic I-don't-give-a-sh*t face.
He kicked Mishti out, ignoring her pleas. Then he finished all of his emails that he was working on prior to all of the drama. Finally, he took a long shower and got ready. Just when he was about to call Kripa to tell her to remind her that she was indeed his assistant, a knock resounded throughout the room.
"Come in," he said, making sure his voice was steady. Kripa walked in, looking beautiful. Or maybe that was just him. Regardless, she walked in and he peered at her, trying to gage her expression. All he saw was a determined look on her face, and her hand filled with a bunch of manila folders.
"There's been some kind of emergency in Armani so you need to be back in New York tomorrow," Kripa started.
"What about the shooting?" he said, scrolling through his phone. He must've missed the emails about the meeting.
"That got moved up for today," Kripa said. He looked up, his eyes wide and his jaw slack.
"What?! This is such an important shoot and we have to do it today?"
"Yes, but don't worry- we have everything ready. All we need now is for you and Suhit to get to the location and complete the shoot and everything will be fine," Kripa reassured him. Angad shook his head in frustration. Today was just not his day.
"Let's go," he said.
