CHAPTER 7

"ENOUGH! Kripa and Angad outside now!" All three (angad, kripa and ms smiti stormed out into the hallway)

"But...maine kya kiya? Maussi, am I in trouble?! I shouldn't be! This is all stupid Angad's fault!"

"Kripa! That is no way to speak to your boyfriend. This is about you two. In class, I have seen you little miffs and flirting and what not. I just want to say....I know you two are in love and I understand that about you youngsters..."

"Mausii, we're really not in..." Kripa was cut off by her aunt.

"No Kripa, let me finish. You two don't interact with the other students, your so stuck on eachother. The number one thing in act6ing is interaction. Connecting with the audience...If you two cannot understand I'm afraid I am going to have to fail you. Before it comes to that, I'd like to ask you...would either of you want to move to another class?"

Angad smirked at the opportunity given. Well I might as well free her from her misery of Julie.

"Smiti Aunty...we would like to change classes. But both of us would. We're glad you brought this up. See, I don't think these freshman understand what kind of a relationship we share...Maybe we should take that Marketing class instead."

"What?! No." a confused Kripa argues.

"Now, now Kripa. We will have to take something...we can't elope like you suggested. I mean that would be WRONG." Angad loved this game.

"I won't fail you. I'll just transfer the credit. You'll take a business class instead of a humanities one. You two want to get married?
Already?"

"Well she does. I told her I'm not ready yet so...We're waiting. I don't think our parents will say yes..."

"ANGAD!!!!!" Kripa was truly mad. How can anyone joke about something so serious? I mean there's a limit to everything! And he has definitely crossed the line this time! Kripa stormed off thinking these words.

"Is she okay?" asked a concerned Smiti, "I think I'm going to go check on her."

"No, I'll go." said Angad

Kripa had just gone into the girl's bathroom. Great, I have to go in there. Well, here goes nothing... Angad reluctantly stepped toward the girls washroom.

Just then two girls stepped out of the bathroom, having to run into a nervous Angad face-to-face.

"This is the girls' bathroom sir." giggled the obviously freshman girl (after all, she DIDN'T recognize Angad)

"Naw, you think?!?" Angad replied sarcastically, the girls briefly scoffed at him and then moved on.

"Kripa!" Angad yelled stepping into the girl's bathroom. He gasped when he saw what the bathroom looked liked. Pink everywhere, music playing, and what amazed him most was the…

"Yo, you guys get a sofa in here!"

Kripa walked out of the stall, hands on her hips, dry tears staining her cheeks.

"Like you guys don't." She stated in a calm, matter-of-fact tone.

"WE DON'T! If the guy's bathroom had a sofa, no guy would ever show up to class."

"Figures. Why are you here anyways?"

"You have incense too?" Angad said not paying attention to Kripa, fascinated by his surroundings.

"Angad!"

"Huh? Oh, I came to make sure you were okay…"

"Well I am so get out!"

"But you were crying."

"No, I wasn't"

"Why?"

"Why what?"

"Why were you crying?"

"I WASN'T!" Kripa screamed defensively.

"YES YOU WERE!" Angad yelled at her. Tears began streaming down Kripa's face. Angad sighed and took his handkerchief. "God women," He mumbled handing her the cloth. Kripa wiped the peaks of her cheekbones.

"What are you, on your period or something?"

"No, I just hate being yelled at."

"Why were you crying?"

"BECAUSE I HATE BEING YELLED AT!" Kripa screamed.

"BEFORE THAT IDIOT!!!!" Angad yelled matching her tone.

"Stop yelling at me, god!"

Angad was getting irritated. He sat on the pink satin sofa, he breathed deep breaths to calm himself down. Kripa was enjoying herself. She never knew tears were such a powerful tool. Or emotion itself in that matter, this feeling explained why Angad loved pestering her.

"Okay, let me ask again. Why were you crying in class?"

"Because you're a first class imbecile."

"Oh." he paused, "Wait, what?"

"There's a limit to everything Angad, and what you told my aunt out there crossed the line…and it brought back… bad memories."

"Bad memories?" Angad was confused, what would Kripa possibly mean by 'bad memories?' He had known her his whole life, as she had him. Their lives were open books to each other.

"I don't want to talk about it. Point is, you were WAY outa line out there."

"How do you know I was joking?" Angad's tone suddenly got serious.

"Because we're not in lo…" She stopped midway under his gaze. He was watching her, there was so much care and love in his eyes, it was something Kripa had never seen in his eyes…for anyone.

"Angad." her voice softened as she looked away from him.

"Kripa, who are you hiding from?" he asked stroking her cheek, "Me or yourself?"

"Uh YOU!" Kripa resumed her usual self, "God Angad, trying to be romantic or something?"

"Dammit Kripa!"

"What?" she asked innocently. She was sure Angad was serious with whatever it is that he felt for her, but she enjoyed teasing him. He teased her all the time. It was how their relationship was…mutual teasing…okay, that sounded weird but for Kripa and Angad it worked. Their relationship had lived in that state for twenty plus years, why should she be so eager to change it so quickly.

"Are you serious?" Angad asked. He was REALLY taking her teasing to heart.

"What?" she repeated herself, less innocently and more realistically. She didn't understand why this was bothering him so much, Kripa was the uptight one. Why was Angad being so weird bout this? "WHAT ANGAD WHAT?"

"Why are you acting so…difficult?"

"How am I being difficult?"

"You have this dumb wall up between us, and you put it up so we can go on pretending like everything's okay…"

"Everything is okay."

"Everything's okay…between us?"

"Yeah...well no. It's not. But I don't get what's wrong with me though…What's wrong with US?"

"Well maybe it's the fact that we're trying to be just friends when we really just…" Angad was stating the facts as Kripa's cell phone rang. Angad sighed (quite annoyed), "take it."

"Hello?" Kripa said. her facial expressions changed as the voice on the other end proceeded.

"Why did you call me?............. No! I don't want to talk to you! …………I told you not to call me! ………………No, I don't want you to meet me either, stay away from me and my family!...... NO! I'll call the police on you! …………….I swear to God, I will. …….I don't want to talk to you…BYE!"

"Who the heck was that?"

"The bad memory…" Kripa mumbled loud enough for Angad to hear.

"Who was it?" Angad repeated himself, expecting an answer.

"No one…I'll talk to you later. Okay, Angad? We're cool….don't worry bout it."

Angad looked at her concerned, Kripa looked at him and moved toward him. She touched his face lightly. "Don't worry, I'm fine." With those words, she left. Angad was worried no matter what she said. He left after her and met her in the hallway again.

"So shall we?" Angad asked trying to act normal. He offered his arm and she threaded her arm through his as they walked toward the admissions office.

An hour later, they had enrolled in the class, so they decided to go visit the Marketing professor, after all they had to spend the semester there. They reached the door, while class was on break and the professor was surprised to see them. Instantly, Kripa ran in and higged the professor and began crying.

"Umm, hi beta. What's wrong?"

"Angad got us kicked out of Drama cuz dumbo told them we were going out. Which we aren't and then the kids were so mean to me and Mausi and Angad yelled at me and now I have to take this dumb business class!!!!!" Kripa cried between sobs, "Papa, help."

Angad was VERY afraid of Kripa's father, especially after hre sudden outbreak. The professor gave him a stern look as her pulled a crying Kripa off of himself.

"Sir, whatever she just said is NOT true." Angad defended.

"It's not?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Okay, it is. But it didn't happen like she said."

"It didn't?" The professor questioned.

"Okay, it did but…she yelled at me too!!!!!" Angad tried to come up with an argument.

"Relax beta, I know this girl as well as you do…She probably started it. It's okay. But on a side note, Welcome to Marketing 109: Introduction to International Marketing."

"Papa, I CANNOT believe you…How can you say that…" Kripa again was interrupted by the phone. Her eyes grew at the caller ID. She picked up and let out a muffled "I told you not to call me." before hanging up.

"Beta, who is it?"

"Oh kuch nahin, just a dumb telemarketer. Oh dang, I shouldn't call them dumb, after all I am one. Ha-ha. Dumb me. Wait huh?" She attempted miserably to act like her normal self, a failed attempt recognized by both her father and Angad.

"Let me get you a textbook." said the concerned professor.

"I'll come with you…" Kripa volunteered. She knew it was easier to hide trouble from her father than it was to hide it from Angad. Absent mindedly, Kripa left, leaving her purse and cell phone on the desk.

Angad was extremely worried. Why would Kripa ever hide anything from him? What could be so terrible that she wouldn't tell him. He had to know who or what this bad memory was.

He reached for her cell phone and went to the menu. With a heavy heart he scrolled to Received Calls. Last two calls were under the same name: PRITHVI.

Angad was even more confused, he had never heard of this Prithvi before. Just then her phone vibrated in his hand, nearly scaring his heartbeats to stop. It was only a text message…from Prithvi. It read:

jaan, you really think you can forget me so easily? u owe me so much more dan dat. and I mean dat in SO many ways…you know it. im in town…and im coming to see u. weather u lyke it or not. after all we've shared, u owe me sum of ur time…even if it is forced time. darling, the next three days ur going to B with me…ready or not here I come ;)

That text messaged scared Angad so much, in so many ways. It sounded so sinister, so menacing. forced time? owing him so much? whether you like it or not?

He had no idea who this man was or what he wanted from Kripa or how she even knew him. But from that moment forward, in some corner of Angad's being he vowed to protect her always…whenever it was in his power, he would keep her safe.

~I posted after a really long time. I hope you people like it. You guys will never guess who Prithvi is. Hehe. My idea is quite novel…or so I think. Hit me up wit sum comments. Try and predict what will happen. I like hearing from you guys. It gives me motivation and direction.~
