Chapter 1
Coma.
'Dr Shashank we have started the work on the new 'Zone' machine and I guess you remember one of our patients, Ms Riddhima, has been transferred to that ward. But sir, are you sure she is fit to be put on this machine?'
Dr Shashank and Dr Keerti walked down the corridor of Sanjeevani hospital, which an innovative masterpiece of its own, with the topmost equipment in the world.
'Sir, everyone's waiting for you to start the conference' the nurse stated.
All 30 best doctor and scientists from different countries gathered to see this genius machine.
'Good morning everyone, my apologies for coming late, so shall we start the conference?' Dr Shashank asked.
*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP* - Suddenly all the alarms set off with flashing red lights.
'DR SHASHANK, DR SHASHANK, we have an emergency in room 62' the nurse explained, huffing and puffing. This was where Ms. Riddhima had been monitored for the past 2 months.
'Sir, the machine seems to form figures and frequency' the nurse continued, running to the room.
Dr Shashank frantically ran to the beside of Ms Riddhima. 'Check the monitor and connect it to the computer immediately, I don't want to lose any data.'
'Sir, sir, the frequency seems to be compiling those figures into text' a shocked nurse stated.
'Dr Shashank, is everything OK?' inquired Dr Keerti, as she reached to read the text being printed out of the 'Zone' machine.
'OH MY GOD!!! This is unbelievable' a surprised Dr Keerti muttered.
****
'Good morning Armaan, get up!'
'Good morning, but can't you let me sleep for another hour, it's only 6 in the morning' he saif groggily.
'No, because it's a beautiful day' isn't this the song you're always singing?'
"It's a beautiful day
The sun is shining
I feel good
And no-one's gonna stop me now, oh yeah
It's a beautiful day
I fell good, I fell right
And no-one, no-one's gonna stop me now
Mama
Sometimes I fell so sad, so sad, so bad
But no-one's gonna stop me now, no-one
It's hopeless - so hopeless to even try"
'OK, OK ' I'm up' just shut up and give me a kiss?' He demanded, lying on the bed.
'Oh, so Mr. Supercool wants a kiss? I'll give you a million kisses if you get out of bed' she replied, escaping his grab!
****
It had been more than 2 hours since all the doctors had gathered around the bedside of Ms Riddhima. Everyone was puzzled and wondered how could this machine be gathering all the information from a human brain, and be compiling it into text.
They all waited for another half an hour and decided to meet another day.
Dr Shashank was still shock, still standing by the patient's bed. He looked cold and pale. An experienced doctor who had been working for the past 40 years, himself in his 60's, tall with grey hair, had no idea what had just happened.
'This machine is terrific!' Dr Shashank said in such a tone, as if talking to himself.
'I want to spend more time with Ms Riddhima, so we cn gather all the information. By the way Dr Keerti how do you think this all started? We've been waiting for this for the past 2 months, and also only this morning, you acknowledged a slight movement in Ms Riddhima's right hand. As you know she has been paralysed for the past 5 years and in a coma for 3.' Dr Shashank stated, still amazed.
'It is a miracle' Dr Keerti managed to say.
'But isn't it strange how no one from her family have filed a missing person's query?' Dr Keerti continued.
'It is sad' Dr Shashank said, disheartened.
When Ms Riddhima was bought to Sanjeevani hospital 5 years ago, the doctors had taken an extra step to find her family. They held press conferences and filed her name in the international missing person's directory. But there was no luck.
----
3 MONTHS LATER
Dr Shashank would wait hours and hours besides Ms Riddhimas bedside to read more. This was his only source to get to her family, if there was anyone alive.
'Any luck sir?' Dr Keerti asked, as she entered the room.
'No, nothing yet, but we shouldn't lose hope' Dr Shashank replied.
*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP* - the machine began printing out text.
****
'Finally' what took you so long?' she said annoyed.
'Well, sweetheart if you were with me, it wouldn't have taken so long!' he teased, sliding his arms around her small waist.
'Are you ready for the best honeymoon ever?' he whispered in a husky voice.
It always gave her the chills down her spine, when he spoke to her like this. Turning around his hold she replied ' Always, I have to see whether this honeymoon's better than my last!' she replied with a wink.
'Oh, really now' so there's tough competition?' he teased back.
'I love you' they said at the same time, with a passionate kiss, to confirm their love for one another.
----
'Woww, I love this place' it's amazing. Armaan, how did you know I wanted to come Mauritius?' she asked like a kid.
'It's beautiful!' she whispered, looking around.
'Yes it is' he replied, stirring at her.
'I love this place' she said, sitting besides her.
'And I love you' kissing her.
'So ma'am, what would you like to do today? Your chauffeur is at your service.' Giving her a million dollar smile.
'I'll leave that for you to decide, I'm just happy to have you beside me' she replied with a twinkle in her eyes.
Before, they knew it, they were disturbed by a group of boys in racing cars.
'Yo grandpa, fancy a race?' the boy shouted.
Annoyed for being disturbed, Armaan's temper soon rose.
'No, I don't' Armaan shot back.
'Armaan ignore them please' she feared as her heartbeat increased.
'Let's go back to the hotel' he suggested.
Riddhima agreed to the suggestion, thanking God.
'Not so fast, grandpa. Not until you've had a race with us. Asking for her permission? Don't be such a wuss!' the boy teased.
'OK, that's it, he's having it now' Armaan's anger clearly visible.
He started the car and accelerated from 0 to 100mph within seconds. All 3 cars drove with the speed of light.
'Armaan please slow down, please' she pleaded.
'Don't worry, nothing will happen, trust me' Armaan replied, concentrating on the road.
'Not bad for a grandpa' the boy shouted and drove off even faster.
'But let's see how fast you can go?' another boy challenged.
'Nobody challenged me' Armaan shot back.
They were soon coming to a busy highway, and street racing being illegal, their licences could be terminated forever alongside a hefty fine. It was clearly visible that these boys were street racing pro. However, this was Armaan's first time on the street and that too in Mauritius.
Losing control of the wheel, Armaan didn't want to scare Riddhima any further. There could only be a miracle to stop the car without having an accident.
'Sweetheart, say something'' Armaan said
'Is there anything for me to say now, that you want me to say something? I just want you to stop.' She replied, crying.
'If only I could stop' he mumbled.
'I love you with all my heart, and forgive me if I ever upset you' Armaan replied out of the blue.
'Armaan why are you talking this way?' her pulse rose one last time.
'I love you and will wait for you' he said again.
*BOOM*
The car crashed into the post.
****
'Sir, sir' we're losing her' Dr Keerti shouted.
'Check her BP, give her gas and air, immediately HURRY' Dr Shashank shot back.
'Sir we're losing a lot of blood too' Dr Keerti panicked.
*BEEE''''*
'It's too late, we've lost her' Dr Shashank announced.
'But sir, how is it possible?' confused Dr Keerti asked.
'Read the last page from the printout' Dr Shashank replied.
'But, but'" Dr Keerti uttered.
****
'where have you been? I've been waiting for so long' Armaan shot back.
'I'm sorry' I got lost and confused too, I was actually waiting for you somewhere else' Riddhima replied.
'I missed you so much' he hugged her.
'I love you' she said.
"Ishq hota nahin, sabhi ke liye
Ye bana hai, ye bana
Kissi kissi ke liye
Oh ishq hota nahin sabhi ke liye
Pyaar ke afsaane, yaar tu kya jaane
Ishq toh karte hain diwaane
Oh.. pyaar ke afsaane, yaar tu kya jaane
Ishq toh karte hain diwaane
Oh..hai zaroori, hai zaroori
Zindagi ke liye
Ho,ishq hota nahin sabhi ke liye
Ishq hota nahin sabhi ke liye
Ishq ishq ishq ishq
Ishq aisa nagma hai, ishq aisa jazba hai
Jab bhi andhera badta hai
Ho.. ishq aisa nagma hai, ishq aisa jazba hai
Jab bhi andhera badhhta hai
Ho.. jalta hai dil, jalta hai dil
Roshni ke liye
Ho, ishq hota nahin sabhi ke liye
Ishq hota nahin, sabhi ke liye
Ye bana hai, ye bana
Kissi kissi ke liye
Oh ishq hota nahin sabhi ke liye"
